Whew for Lindsay! I think this win is good for her- because she had to scrap it out and did not get that down on herself during the course of the match which she used to do all the time.
Good for Young to get the first set.
roseha- Murray is steamrolling Tsonga in the third set. 5-0 and most likely a bagel. A switch went on for Andy- and off for Jo.

roseha- I think it will be a short time from here on out. The wheels have completely come off of Tsonga. sad to see.

Ugh, Amelie lost the first set.

Tsonga's back seemed to be bothering him in the third set. He has had chronic injuries during his brief career- one reason why he is a relative newcomer at his age.
A think Momo is still in the funk that has plagued her over the past months.

Ungh, must sleeep. A lot of seeds seem to be having rough first rounds, Jelena's debace included.
Didn't know what to think of Lindsay's haranguing of the chair - has that tactic EVER been successful? For what it's worth, I called it out as it happened (and I noticed that they didn't show the replay that they did for other points...) so I thought it was more that the chair wasn't clear than that he made the wrong call.

Wow did Momo wake up. Reeled off 11 straight games since losing the first set.

Goodbye Andy Murray! Bwahahaha. I derive so much satisfaction from seeing the much-hyped, much touted British #1 lose to the 6th highest ranked French player.

Haha, Andy Murray can be such a brat. He redeemed himself somewhat by waving to the crowd, but he's just so... undisciplined.

Wow, I really thought Tsonga was just going to go away after losing that 3rd set. I was torn in that match-I like both players.
Ugh on how Donald Young is doing. I don't think I will manage to stay up to see if he pulls his match out.

Heh, they're reporting on the betting scandals... (shallow: whoever did Davy's makeup should get an award, he looks cute on the interview!) Sigh, I'm not a Davy fan, but seriously, all the innuentdo is ridiculous.

I thought Davenport had two arguments about the chair umpire overruling the call: (1) it was the far sideline and (2) he didn't announce the overrule clearly. The scoreboard showed Davenport winning the point, so obviously she wasn't the only one confused.
I like Tsonga and damn, this is the fittest he's ever looked. Gasquet vs. Tsonga in the 4th round would be great.

Sharapova's dress is almost a white version of what Gajdosova's was. It looks very, very different on her :-) That being said, the vertical tux shirt ruffle is pretty ugly, even when it's fitting properly.
Thanks amaranthe for the explanation.
OK, this is silly. I HAVE to go to bed!

I guess I'm the only one crazy enough to still be up, and I had one hell of a work day, but I just can't resist. In case anyone signs on in the next hour or so, I'm watching Moya/Koubek on ESPN2 HD. There is way too much armpit in this match, sad to say. Hopefully the tennis will distract me. Also, Kanepi/Molik is at 5-4 in the first, with Nadal's first match to follow. I wonder if chesty set her alarm clock for that one!

And (double-posting is so fun!) I think I'm going to have to call it a night, although Nadal's match could start shortly. Koubek/Moya looks like it could go on forever, and Kanepi/Molik is just not that scintillating -- not at 3:30 a.m. anyway.
