I second what chesty. Do you realize if you're a fan of any current player (not named Rafa), it is frustrating to hear them all called underachievers because Roger wins everything in sight? Roddick is hardly an underachiever - he just keeps running into Roger time and time again!
I find it amusing that Delpo and Rafa got the Wednesday starts - the two with the biggest issues involving the number of matches to cram in for a USO run.

I am really pulling for Dokic. She deserves some happiness and success in life. On the other hand, I could not give less of a shit about Penis-Head Blake. Nice guy, apparently, but...meh.

Since Delpo is in Murray's quarter it would be good if they could actually have all of the quarter start on the same day. But the USO is the most jackasstastic when it comes to scheduling vis-a-vis some players getting more rest than others. Bah! Humbug!

Awww, Mia Hamm! So nice. Though I had forgotten how eager-beavery the commentators get for the night matches -- In adding to my mood of synergistic sporting events, I am planning a downward spiral into the intense fandom of bog snorkelling... whoa -- And way to score the awesome contract, tiki -- how cool. Just don't abandon us

Forgot to mention the funny in Mary calling out Pam: "cracking the WS open like a nut" or close to it. Heh.

Oh man, watching Venus lose is always so painful. It's always so slow, and it's always about her hitting a lot of maddening errors. C'mon!

This match is just odd. Although they have very different demeanors- when V is playing badly it has that same energy suck out of the air that Davenport used to have when she was playing poorly.
Very interesting tweet from Matthew Cronin
I know the general consensus from those in the know re US player development is that Young's parents are holding him back. This is interesting if it is true. I feel like the Donald Young bust after being the number one junior at 16 has been kind of hard to see. Maybe if he got a new coach that could help him to start to realize his talent more. (Although his smallish stature will still be an issue)

Haha, Pam was interviewing Venus' hitting partner and the people behind them were fidgeting or something. She shot them a DEATH GLARE as V's partner was talking and they went TOTALLY STILL for the rest of the interview.

Pam can be rather cold and impatient at times. I mean- she was ice, ice cold with David Robinson- David Robinson!!!!
It seems like Venus remembered how to play.

It was funny, because you couldn't see the people's faces, only their torso down in the seats behind Pam/Partner. But the body language was totally cowed.
Yeah, it's like a switch turned on with Venus.

Venus! I couldn't stand to watch the whole match but caught the last set fully. Her knee... My heart sank when I turned back and saw that it was tapped. I hope that she doesn't play doubles and just rests up, so that her serve can come together. But at least it's not another pulled abdominal muscle like in 03.
Pam totally schooled those two, didn't she? Just like a mother scolding her kids, with THE LOOK. So funny.

Roddick needs to retire the Tron shirt. That is all.

Twenty minutes in to the Roddick match and I am already completely sick of the McEnroe brothers and their constant and often times incoherent stroll down memory lane.
