So happy to see Verdasco and especially Ferrero win their titles.
Tournament play and Slam play is so different though... seeing the matches now, compared to the Aus Open... Slam tennis is just a different intensity.

Wow. Very strange. I'm watching the delay of the San Jose tournament on SNY and they decided to skip ahead in the match. In the third set. For the game that Verdasco broke Andy to go up 5-4. Huh? They couldn't skip over a couple of games in the first set? 2nd set? Earlier in the third? They picked the game where Fer basically won the match?
eta: on my tv I can see that the guy next to Jose isn't Fer's brother. Phew. I was worried.
Even more annoying--they skipped those games so we could listen to Gimelstob and Leif talk for 5 minutes. They didn't even show the trophy ceremony--it was going on in the background behind those two talking.

I am NOT going to fall into the Shakira/Rafa rumors but here is a clip of her new video.eta: I know it's all over the internet today but my, oh my. Love ya Fer, but when Mehcad Brooks says "Don't be shy". . . *fans self*

Oh, Mehcad Brooks. I was introduced to the power and glory of Mr. Brooks on "True Blood" and while Eggs was tedious, he was made bearable by Mehcad doing a lot of his scenes shirtless...and occasionally pantsless.

So Serena just enrolled in manicurist's school. She's so odd. I get that she's coming out with some kind of nail line, but still. Odd.

falafaclese, have you seen her blog about it? She's one odd duck--but completely enthusiastic so very endearing.
Mpol, check out the full screen version of the video I posted above. Everything is larger. (wait. That did not come out right. . . )

I did read it. It is endearing, and yet . . . odd. Here it is for anyone who's interested. What I do find amazing is how unselfconscious she can be given how much criticism she gets for stuff that has nothing to do with her game. I'd probably shut down completely. It's kind of fun to see her engaging in such everyday stuff too.

Aw, look at Serena drinking her contractually approved sports drink like the company woman she is.

If only that lady had asked for a Gatorade. She would have been able to offer one of those. . . .
Eating off of styrofoam plates and out of styrofoam cups from some wacky cafeteria? It's just so hard to imagine.
I was talking about this with a co-worker. I think this is what happens when you are told from before you hit puberty that you are going to do/be one thing. You spend your adult life trying to figure out what you would have been if the answer hadn't been foisted on you. Because she keeps searching for that answer I can never completely not like her--even though I'm not a fan of her game and some of the stuff that comes out of her mouth annoys me.

Aw, look at Serena drinking her contractually approved sports drink like the company woman she is. LOL. I noticed that too. She's a puzzle for me. There often seems to be an air of childishness about her that maybe springs from the predetermined reason for being that lt was talking about, but often when she does interviews she seems more mature, it sort of makes it difficult for me to know how to take her.

I cannot stop laughing about Serena and her quest to be a certified nail technician. Is there a bigger fruit loop on tour?! I think not. I especially love how she stocked up on supplies from Hello Kitty. The pic of her wearing the pink backpack has me dying. Gives me flashbacks to my first day of kindergarten. Oh Serena, don't ever change.

Does anyone know who is commentating the Roddick/Querrey match? I get that they really, really love Roddick because according to them he's the best at everything in the whole wide world. Also STFU for 5 seconds.

I suppose that's necessary because the commentator can only kiss one American's ass at a time. Someone posted here from their match last week they called Querrey a stud? I can't be the only one who looks at Sam's face and thinks he's a bit slow (the glass table did not help that image).
Then again, the tour is all confusing right now. I mean, how the hell did Gulbis make a semifinal?
