Is Tomic a counterpuncher? His strokes are very deliberate, but he doesn't seem to be putting much on his shots. Maybe that's why Feli seems so irritated?

Geeze- from some of the quotes they were saying from Tomic on the court feed- he really does not lack self confidence does he? Martina was slobbering over Raonic- saying he could be top ten. But between his performance today and the performance of Rebecca Marino against Schaivone yesterday- there could be some future for Canadian tennis I like that Rafa is playing more up in the court. It is good for me as a fan that he is remembering his successful hard court game. Of course, Sweeting is not hitting it like Soderling, Berdych or Delpo so it may be easier for him to play up in the court but I still like the mindset. ETA: Oh my- Sweeting just broke him. I have the feeling that Delpo/Baggy may be dramatic. Trying to decide whether or not to go to sleep early and try to catch the end in the wee hours. My husband may not appreciate an alarm at 3 am but he falls back to sleep easy.

I have a feeling you may be right, but i have an early day tomorrow, so I'll have to catch it in replay. I haven't had a chance to see JMdP yet.

I loved when she talked about how bad his posture is and that he should start doing pilates now to avoid injury later. Max starts every day with pilates and he's probably the most effortlessly-fit on the tour. Raonic should listen to Martina.
I agree about the Baghdatis/del Potro match having the potential to be a barn burner. I'm going to keep my alarm for its normal time and catch (maybe) the end. Work is bizarrely busy right now and I'm not used to working so many projects on Aussie Open (lack of) sleep. I'm going to mess something up really badly if I don't get more rest. . . But I'm still not going to sleep until Feli is off the (singles) court.
eta: yeesh. Lopez and Tomic are just having a hit out there in the tiebreak. Neither seems to want to pull the trigger on the points.
Rafa's shirt material got so shiny when it was all wet that he looked like he was wearing rubber.
Hey, the match is on my TV--I know they won't keep it long but I'll enjoy it while it's there. As long as Gimelstob doesn't start talking--he's so jealous of Feli that he says the strangest things about him.
Awww, Rafa is rooting for his buddy. Sweet.
Wait a minute. I've been watching Feli play for the better part of a decade and I do not remember his left arm being that much bigger than his right. It's practically Rafa-like big.
I do not like Tomic's game. He throws so much junk.

Not even any interesting spin or shot placement. He's just lofting it back, waiting for Feli to miss. Is this his whole game? Because if it is, I don't get what all the excitement is about.

Normally I would be too but I'm Canadian and I've been following Roanic since I saw him at Roger's Cup in 2009. He's just the nicest kid, very talented and I hope Martina is right about him.
ETA - Can they just shut up about the freaking Rafa Slam already? They are making me not like him.

It is 11:16 and ESPN has yet to show any actual tennis. C'mon guys! Show something! And Chris Fowler has three shot glasses in front of him. PMac has none.
I like that they're giving him all the love but it really is dead horse. stick.

Oh Feli. He's going to be angry about this match. I hope he doesn't let it affect his doubles.
You mean the outfit? Yeah, all ruffles all the time is our Nadia. But I always get a kick out of how, no matter how many are in her outfit, her visor will have all the same colors.

Feli needs to follow Roger and Rafa and cut his hair. Maybe that would fix it.
(Yes, I'm grasping at straws)
After Venus' abominations, Petrova looks almost... conservatively bad.

Nadio Petrova continually has the ugliest clothes- clothes that a 4 year old would think was pretty.
lt- sorry your dude lost. He just was out of it by the end. I do agree with the announcers- his ranking is not up to his talent. But he can go away....quite easily at times.
The Pico/Flo doubles match will be a very pretty one.

That is exactly it. The bright colors, the ruffles, the match-ey/match-ey--it's like how I would dress my Barbies when I was a kid.
Eh, the thing about Feli is that he cannot get out of funks by himself. It's not even that he isn't mentally tough--he just loves the drama of whatever is going on and lets it get to him. lizm, I agree about the hair. The anti-Sampson, if you will. And he doesn't need all that hair when he has those cheekbones and those eyes. Monaco has the same bad hair issue (but most of the Argentines do have awful hair) and he's another guy with a gorgeous face.
My goodness, Court 2 is PACKED! Everyone wants to see Tsonga. I see that the Australian Open makes the same mistake that the US Open does--too many women's match on the main court. First week, those matches just don't draw a crowd.
Love ya Tsonga and Seppi but I need to go to sleep. . . Night all.

I confess to having had long hair in the past. I got lots of compliments (and some people seem to have a -thing- for it)... but when I cut it, almost everyone confided that short hair is MUCH better. So it's a touchy point with me, looking at these people who would look better with short hair.
Man, I need to go to bed.. will stick it out a bit longer. This Open is HELL on sleep patterns.

I actually love Monaco's hair. It is so curly and beachy. It looks like there should be unicorns and sexy elves living in it. He is such a fun and friendly and expressive dude that I think his wild hair suits him to a t. It can get a little too long at times- but I like it when it is kinda long-ish like in this photo. the-slice.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/178211116.jpgI've gotta turn in because I want to catch some of the end of the Delpo/Baggy match before I go to work . But I hope Vera can turn her match around. I hope to see Sveta in the next couple of days too because the announcers keep talking about how much weight she has lost and I wanna see.
