I haven't gotten off the couch yet either. . . . and Rafa is just the cutest cute who ever cuted. Those nutty Australian reporters--why the hell would Rafa be nervous about getting Tomic in the next round? Not only at all, but two days before the match? Yeesh. Have fun at the aquarium Rafa, bring Feli, he could probably stand to look at some pretty fish.
I had an RA in college who had long hair and guys hit on her all the time. She cut it short--an adorable cut--and they stopped hitting on her. Same pretty lady, just short hair. Very weird. I used to have hair down most of the way down my back and when it was braided people would pull on it like a bell pull on the subway. What is it about hair? I used to love long hair on guys but, as I've gotten older, I don't find it attractive anymore.
Me too! They were going on and on about her having to "take her clothes in." Um, yeah, that's what happens when you lose weight. Supposedly, Baghdatis is in good shape too.
I hope Vera turns it around as well. Not only do I have her winning the tournament I just want some female to hold it together when they get to the top. Only Serena and Venus seem to be able to do it. Maybe Kim too, and Maria when she's healthy. But those are four women who are reaching the backside of their careers. The young ones can't seem to do it.
eta: HEEE! Both PMac and Fowler were upset that the camera feed pulled away from Youzhny before he finished his post match salute to the crowd. They spent the last few points of the match talking about looking forward to seeing it.

That was so cute. I have such a soft spot for Misha- and a soft spot for Chris Fowler so I was all gushy.
Now I really have to go to try to sleep.

I had never seen it before, so I was a bit upset too.
I guess I could youtube it, but I wanna see it live!

I was describing it to my dad so I was irked too.
I went to bed when Vera's match was mid-way through the second. After she broke, I was hoping I'd wake up to a victory (intended to wake up for Baggie/Delpo but that didn't happen either). What a relief.

Love it. You just know Kim could barely focus on her match waiting for the post match interview.

I saw that this morning on ESPN--so funny. And you're right, she was absolutely dying to get it out. Good for her.
Not happy that Baghdatis beat del Potro. There are people I root for over Delpo, but Baggy is not one of them. I don't know where I turned on Baghdatis, but he's just not a fave anymore--and I really like JMdP so either way, not happy.
Looking at the scores from after I went to sleep: boy, Hewitt must be pissed today. I always think of the loser from the match before when I see their opponent retire in the next round. Good for Feli and Juan--they lost the first set and pulled it out in three. After the singles debacle I'm pleasantly surprised Feli could do it. But, then again, he's always mentally tougher when he has a partner. Really happy Vera pulled it out but, like mooncreek, I had a feeling seeing the way the 2nd set was going.
Soderling is the definition of flying under the radar right now. This is going to get interesting. And Isner had a good win over Stepanek. I'm still really liking Isner--I think because he has such a nice, normal family that don't seem to glorify him and that story about becoming buds with Mahut goes a long way with me. Besides, like Mischa's salute, I love John's toss between the legs during his serve prep.
Jer2002, did you see they have Djokovic/Troicki first on Hisense? Could be worse for them--11 am is not the heat of the day yet. I hope TTC realizes that showing that match would be smarter than showing Wozniacki demolishing Cibulkova.
Oh man, DAMN! Fed/Malisse is third on Laver. I really need some sleep. . . I guess I have to hope that Woz and Sveta win their matches easily (see what I did there? Not rooting for Justine over Sveta. . . ). But at least chesty and I will get to see what Sveta looks like now. And *sob* Fer/Kei is the first night match. Do you think anyone would notice if I crawled under my desk and took a nice long nap now?
If I was in Australia right now I think I'd spend a good portion of my day on Court 18. Max and Nestor first up in doubles, followed by the Llodra/Zimonjic pairing. I want to see what those two are like together.

I must confess that I'm still a BagD fan even though he's underperformed for several years. I love DelPro too but stayed true to Marcos.
It's going to be a very long day since I've been up since 5:30 a.m. Yikes!

I got about 6 hours of sleep last night, so I feel much better. Unfortunately, I've got another early morning tomorrow, so I'll be turning in at a sane hour again tonight. At least they scheduled Venus as the last night match on Laver, so I'll hopefully be able to catch some of it while I'm getting ready in the morning. I'm not optimistic given Venus' injury and Petkovic's play in Brisbane. We'll see how it goes.
The entire order of play for tonight seems really interesting. The entire remaining field seems to either be strong veterans or showing decent form. I wish I could stay up and see it all. At least it bodes well for this weekend's matches.

I enjoy both Marco & JMdP so last night was a push/pull for me.
I really liked Sorana Cirstea's dress, it was the dignified cousin to Petrova's whirly mess. If only she could get her mind together...
Cibulkova will probably loose against Woz but I can hope.
At first I attributed a lot of the bullshit surrounding Tomic to his dear old dad, but seems like he is quite the little charmer all on his own.
Breezy, does Raonic's game remind you of Phillippousiss? I didn't see much of him last night but that was BG's assesment.

Oh my! Henin-Kuzzie tonight! I did not realize they were meeting so early. Kuzzie is Henin's bitch for real, but maybe, just maybe, she can pull off something special. I'm also intrigued by Woz-Cibulkova (since Domi just beat Caro recently) and Pova-Goerges, so it will be a late night for me.
I'm surprised Venus-Petkovic is the last match on Laver. I don't remember the Aussies ever putting a women's match last on the main court. The cynical part of me thinks its because they hate Venus for some reason (I thought their lack of support for her last round went beyond rooting for the underdog; she was visibly injured out there and could have retired but was fighting through it like a champ, and the crowd with their boos during her ball toss and what not seemed rather disrespectful to me)
Speaking of Venus, she is definitely carrying extra weight, her legs look unconditioned and she has a spare tire for the first time. Its not surprising given that injuries kept her from training hard during the offseason. I am quite scared of Petkovic who is in good form. I think she'll beat Venus. I just hope she doesn't do that idiotic victory dance of hers. She's a little too much when she wins.

The first thing that occurred to me was that Venus requested a later start because it would give her more time to recover from her injury. Didn't the Aussie Open start alternating women's and men's matches as the last match of the night last year? Or was that that US Open?

I don't know. I hardly watched Phillippousiss play. Raonic has a tremendous serve but some good ground strokes to back it up. His movement still needs improvement as he is 6'5" but we aren't talking Karlovic levels of imobility.

I love the London tabloids. In an article about Tomic they described Rafa's off day like this:
Hee, it's all in the wording. . .

Okay, so I'm in and out of the room, barely watching the replay of Baghdatis/Del Potro, trying to get a ton of chores done, and there's this constant obnoxious chanting in the background. Whose fans do I blame?
