You know what, I thought I was okay withaccepting Roger's result but I'm still sad and it makes me feel better to have some company here. The only other thing that makes me feel better is that after all the tennis I've watched over the years I really believe the sport cannot be predicted and I believe therefore that he can still win a Slam or two in the future. It just frustrates me what happened this week but what can we do.
These last 2 pages are full of great posts people! I love apoc's Carillo quote:
*stupid inappropriate laugh*
- I feel at this point that Carillo follows *every* comment with a *stupid inappropriate laugh*!
And yes, I think most tennis / sports journalists are incredibly lazy. They don't seem to know the history of the game and don't realize that the immediate past doesn't predict the future. That said, I freely admit I can't predict either and I remember telling someone about a year and a half ago that Maria's career was shot, because her serve had gotten so bad. Now she looks like a shoe-in for Wimbledon. So what do I know? What does anyone know? I would never want to bet on tennis like they do in England, heh.
ETA: Hey, feel better oops and tiki, and acre.

And rosheha, how's this for a little wackiness--I was thinking about it a couple of days ago and Dick Enberg mentioned it yesterday: remember when Roger said he was going to keep playing "at least until the 2012 London Olympics?" That's next year! It felt sooooo long in the future when he said it and now, it's next year! And Roger is still playing well enough to make it to the quarters of every major. Of course I hope he plays for ages more than just next year's Olympics but it is interesting how quickly time flies.
C'mon Tsonga, don't give your break right back.
eta: I love this aggressive Jo but I'm worried if he expands too much energy early on that his long quarterfinal match will come back to haunt him. And, I love that the ridiculously handsome Tsonga has a box of striking-looking people. I'm now picturing them all sitting in a cafe in Paris while passerbys turn to look. . .

So many good things said I'm not gonna quote anybody specifically, cause if I did this whole post would be quotes! But I'll talk about a bunch of the things:
Okay, I am taking (cold)comfo-t in the fact that Fed didn't actually lose any points he-e, he equalled last yea-s showing ... ugh, that I should be reduced to thinking Fed going out in the 1/4's is at least not a loss f-om last time! Should have not happened, at all. Not that the winne-s didn't dese-ve it, I'm not at all anti Be-dcyh o- Tsonga and they played so well but ....
If Tsonga pulls his "limp noodle following big win" act then I'm gonna be done with him. It's absolutely respectable fo- anyone to lose to Djok at this point, but make it a match. And please, if you can, also win, I don't ask fo- much, you beat my guy(you owe me damnit!) so I usually want you to win the whole thing cause then see - well yeah he lost, but he lost to the champion.
Y'all a-e b-ave- than I am, I haven't even watched Fed's match. Yes I slept all kinds of late and then it was off to the dentist(no biggie), and done when I came back. I might, might watch some of the 1st two sets, but I can't handle watching Fed lose it, even if Tsonga was playing out of his mind.
Huh, yeah 2012 isn't so long now, is it? I have no doubt he'll still be a-ound and in the mix, he'll be what, 31? Maybe 32? See I love him, but not to the point whe-e I have his bday down cold. I know it's in the summe-, and I think he'll be 30 this yea-? Yes, I am Fed-focused enough that most any random "he" will mean Fed, heh.
I haven't -ead PMac's STUPID, STUPID book, don't know if I even knew he had one? Must have hea-d about it, but just passed on th-ough my mind as if the wind I guess. Now I'm thinking I'll have to take it out of the lib-a-y? I give the commentato-s some slack, I mean they have to talk, that's what they'-e paid fo-, and so they make up talking points I feel like. Only some slack though, stupid is stupid.
Ack, have lots to say, almost outta time - omg Jo Willy go, go, go, keep it togethe-! Nadal and Andy(1st name/last name based on how many/any "r's") could be inte-esting. Andy has a game that can beat him, and I feel Nadal is way mo-e beatable in a semi than a final. Well, that's the histo-y anyway, plus Nadal is fucking fie-ce in a GS Final, and obviously, no special ne-viness fo- him - done this is it 4 times? 2 wins vs 2 losses in Wimb finals? Plenty anyway.

Oh my goodness Djoker family--don't stand up for opponent's faults! That's just ridiculous.
acre, Jo came out firing and and aggressive. The problem is, that made sense when he was going to get a quick set but Djokovic got his feet under him and evened the first set and I just don't think Jo can keep his energy up this high. I think he's already tiring.
I was telling tiki, the thing about the PMac book is that it is poorly written and PMac just really hasn't had anything interesting happen in his tennis life so he and Bodo (I think it was Bodo who was the co-writer?) seemed to throw in some stuff they thought would be controversial but it was all kind of bland. Eh, it was a quick read so a library read wouldn't be a bad thing (for me it was a gift from a cousin's husband).

Wow, and still, they continue to suck. If they could just calm the fuck down, I'd probably like Djpker a lot more.

Jesus, waking up to the faces of the Djokovic family is not recommended.
I wish I could imagine some way for Tsonga to take this match -- but I can't.

I think losing this first set is going to make Jo feel every tired muscle in his body. So sad. Think I'll go watch the second set from the gym.
And in a "how many years has this been going on and I just figured it out?" way--the player boxes are now separate? Boy, I'm slow.

So apparently the second men's semi will be shown at noon local time. Guess what, NBC, I'll skip your stupid-ass delayed programming and not buy the stupid products that you stupidly advertise. In fact, I can happily not tune in to your stupid station again. Yes indeed, I live in a trash can in the morning.

And I'm back - wow the playe-s boxes a-e sepa-ate now? Duh me, I still hadn't noticed that, and likely wouldn't have if you hadn't mentioned it.
Sigh - okay, Djok is the bette- playe-, no shame in losing to him, but it's how you lose. Sadly, this is not a shock f-om Tsonga.
And I'm absolutely with y'all on the Djok family. He himself is not so bad the last couple years, but I will always hate that fucking box of his! Eve- hea- of spo-tsmanship assholes? It's fine and to be expected to be wildly happy fo- you- guy, it is NOT fine to be nasty to the opponent. They act so entititled, and they have no manne-s. Guess it's a blessing fo- anyone laying Djok that they don't have to sit with those fucks.
And I must say I will be unhappy if Djok wins Wimbledon. US Open, okay I can handle it, but not Wimbledon, just does not compute. Nadal made his name on clay, but that's well in the past, he can play on anything, and he's wo-thy, I like him tons and would love him madly if it wasn't fo- the fact that his successes usually come at Fed's expense. But he's a good guy, has complete -espect fo- the game and his opponents ... and given just how good he is, he's also quite humble. Yes, he says he know he's one of the best eve-, like yeah, you think? That's a no-braine-.
Eh, Djok talks quite -espectfully about most of his opponents, and pays due homage to the G-eat One(one guess who I mean), but with that family you always have to wonde- if he's just being pc, and -eally thinks ... nope I'm the best, the mightiest, I'm the one!
