Oh so Jo-Willy wants to make it inte-esting, huh? Well I'm ve-y pleased that he at least got a set and maybe some self-respect back, but I think coming back f-om 2 sets down, 2 matches in a -ow is a big, big, ask. Especially against this quality of playe-. I think it's mega unlikely vs any opponents, but these? Hey, only 2 and 3 in the wo-ld, one the GOAT, the othe- having an unbelieavable season, yeah I don't think so.
But thank you Tsonga that at least we have a 4th set.
Ugh, I typed too soon - a 4th set and going down, down, down. Maybe only one b-eak, but I don't see Djok letting go of this one. And one b-eak is all you need.
Oh wait, I think I messed that up? 2 b-eaks? No, one, but Djok se-ved 1st, do I have it now? Yeah obviously I'm not watching it(is it even on tv?) - had one appt at home al-eady and about to leave now to anothe-.

And in a "how many years has this been going on and I just figured it out?" way--the player boxes are now separate? Boy, I'm slow. I noticed that a couple of rounds ago, but then I thought that maybe it's only in the final that the players share player's boxes. Then I thought that this might be the first year, although if that's the case, I'm surprised that none of the commentators have mentioned it.

Well, everyone at the gym sure knows who I was rooting for. . . (and a full hour on a stepper is a bit too much.)
I was putting together a bit of a lecture to Tsonga during the second half of the 2nd set and the first half of the third. Talking about how I was now actually angry at Tsonga for beating Roger and that I was no longer going to be okay with him beating my favorite players. It wasn't because he was losing to Djoker, there's certainly no shame in that, but that he was giving Novak an easy win into the finals. I didn't want to wish for an easy win for someone in the Rafa/Andy match but how else would that person beat a fully rested Novak?
But now? It's a win for Djokovic but it is a full hour longer than I thought the match would be and Novak can't feel as confident as he did that one hour before. Good for Tsonga for fighting back.
I'm no fan of Novak's (obviously) but there is no question in my mind he's been the #1 player this year. Even if Rafa wins Wimbledon this year. I know how important the Slams are but Djoker killed it this spring and deserves his #1 spot.
Meanwhile, I agree with something Chris said very early on--with that Texas Rangers cap on, Jo's brother really does look like baseball's ARod. It's the eyes, and of course picking that particular team. When the brother was covering the bottom half of his face it was quite startling.
Off to find a good stream. . .

And Djoko is now the new # 1. Congrats to him. He's definitely earned it. But I don't have to like it...
On the one hand, I want Andy to win the semi because he has a decent shot at winning overall then (if he continues to step up). Plus I'd hate to see Nadal lose a fifth final to Djoko this year, which is wholly possible. On the other hand, I really hate matches between Andy and Djoko - they're never any fun for me to watch. And if the Wimbledon final is anything like the AO final earlier this year, I'm not interested in seeing Andy not bring his game to the finals.

So, is NBC going to join the semifinal already in progress or are they going to start at the beginning of the Nadal/Murray match? I wonder how long I'm going to be listening to the french commentary on RDS. "C'est un ace!"
eta: excellent, joined in progress.

Yeah, Djok ea-ned the #1. And now if his family would go a long, long way away, and stay away fo- a long, long time I wouldn't have any cu--ent issues with him at all. He behaves himself fine as fa- as I can tell, no mo-e bullshit withd-awals in Slams(I'm not saying he wasn't sick just that the multiple withd-awals we-e pushing it), and I've always enjoyed his game.
Tsonga aquitted himself okay in the end - he played well fo- most of 2 sets, but that going off in a match has just got to stop. You have to play well the whole time JWT, all of it counts!
In the second semi, well - I definitely like Nadal mo-e, but I'm kinda taken with the idea of seeing new faces in the final. New at Wimby anyway. This would definitely not apply if one of those faces could belong to Fed, but eh. And if that did happen I'd want to see Andy finally win his goddamn Slam.
But I think, as I always have, that it's Nadal all the way and I'm good with that. Same as with Ma-ia, I'll be shocked if she loses, but winning is okay with me. And you know they all want my app-oval. Good matches people, just play good matches.

Hmmm, I wonder what they'll do in CT? About a half an hour till noon here. But I've got a good stream going so I might not even bother.

Yuck. They're on their way to produce my least favorite variation of a final.

I'm following the live score tracker while I get my pool ready...we've already had a ton of days over 100'F so I'm dying after chilly, rainy New England.
Not sure who I'm rooting for in this match -- whoever is more likely to beat Djokovic, I guess. Who wants to give me a quick summary of what happened in the first set? Pretty please!

Yeah acre, I meant Central Time. But since I'm normally a Jersey girl, Connecticut is not that far away. . . (just saying. . . )
Something completely random, and proof that I'm not the nicest person in the world, I actually enjoy Djokovic more now that I've stopped going to the Forty Deuce site. All that Djoker-love/Roger-hate (amongst other stuff) just set me off. Sad for me that it took me so very long to figure it out.
For me, going into today, Rafa/Djoker was my least-wanted final so I'm a bit happy right now. Not that I think Rafa is finished in any way. But a good first set for Andy.
tiki, someone who was not also working while watching can give you a better summary but the first set for this match was the opposite of Jo/Nole--nothing too thrilling here. Solid play from the baseline and some good angles. Andy did step it up with some good shots and a little net action to get that break to win the set.

Trying to figure out what the universe wants from me: keep ignoring tennis, or go support my paisano? Maybe even writing here will have been a terrible event? So confused! ;/

oops, if it means anything--I just checked the TV and they are joining live so you wouldn't have to watch on your computer. . . I'm sticking with my computer though. The first thing Ted Robinson said was as NBC went to coverage here was "great start to this match." Good thing I'd been watching 'cause that would have pissed me off if I'd been waiting to see the match on TV. So, NBC, you lose. . . random stream from some country I don't know, you win. (but boy, I do seem to be listening to Boris Becker a lot this tournament.)
