LT I hadn't heard about that technology. I think its too late for a marked improvement in my game, but it might arrive in time to help my kiddos Didn't get to see a minute of Li but am surprised. Didn't think she would defend but thought she'd get past Shvedova. I hope Brad Gilbert is wrong and that the upset isn't contagious as I really like Petra and would love to see her win. Am so glad men's matches were perfunctory affairs, hate when scheduling plays into outcomes.

Ha, yes I was in Montauk lt, very nice.
Is that story about the racquet chip for real? It sounds like science fiction to me. It definitely shouldn't be allowed on the tour I agree. But how will they police it?
Sorry for Li Na.
I have to look at the draw, I'm still not clear who's left in Rafa's side. Oh, now they show it, thanks TC.
I have to say though, it really is ridiculous for Tennis Channel to put American French Open results from the early rounds on their screen feed this morning. I mean if you have nothing to say...

I'm really surprised that Na is out. In her last match she looked like she might have been starting to find her rhythm. I'm glad I didn't see that match.
I just noticed another great name, although he's playing in the boys' event : Max De Vroome. It sounds like a character from that cars Pixar movie. He better be fast.

Indy on the girls' side is still the cooler De Vroome name.
Figured when I left the house that Maria was the one to be concerned about, having just lost the second set and her serve going to hell again. Hadn't heard a thing about Na's match so never thought she'd be the one gone.
Though the Maria match was more getting on my nerves than anything - partially due to Maria's serving issues, more because I wouldn't be able ot watch even the start of Murray/Gasquet. Though looking at the score, looks like it took Andy a while to get ready as well.

Wait, there is a Max and Indy De Vroome out there? Spectacular. As soon as Maria remembered she could get back to #1 just by getting to the final she went to pieces. Glad she got it back together (although she lost her serve again serving for the match at 5-2). Sorry for Madame Li. If TTC is currently airing the tournament why can't they still stream? Although do I want to see Andy/Richard? Scoreline makes it look wacky. Yup. And judging by the hemming and hawing and "we're number one in Europe" when asked about worldwide racquet sales (Wilson is #1 worldwide) I think Babolat is smart to really push this on the hoi polloi. No reason for the pros to use it, but it seems kind of brilliant for the club player. First time I ever thought of getting a Babolat.

I started watching near the end but from what I could see (and per the commentators), Na was simply outplayed. Too bad -- I really like her.
Maria had to work for it today but prevailed.
Rafa cruised along nicely.
From yesterday: it was nice to see Sloane Stephens play a respectable match against Stosur.

Watching the Murray-Gasquet match on DVR, and it struck me that for all Gasquet's less than ideal proportions, Lacoste has managed to find him clothes that fit him nicely, unlike what they've done for Isner and Roddick, who both look like a pile of dirty laundry.

That's a good point, harry. And while Andy's shorts are long, they aren't baggy. His outfit fits him as well. I missed the first set completely. How did this turn around so so emphatically?
No more waking up to tennis. Starting tomorrow the main courts won't begin until 2 pm (8 am ET). Oh well, at least I'll have the radio on the bus/walk across town.

Given the amount of tugging on the sleeve Isner and Roddick do when they're serving, that's not really a surprise. The French players who wear Lacoste don't seem to have that habit. Reading through stuff (since I won't actually see any of it until I get home from work), apparently the key to make Murray play lights out is to have the crowd continually booing him. Keep that in mind at Wimbledon, Brits.

Ha, mooncreek - you want your Brits to show direct aggression rather than the passive kind that is their (our??? yikes) MO....
But so very true....

I forgot to DVR yesterday and it's pissing me off. I wanted to know if Nadal just gave Pico a shellacking or if Pico was exhausted from his match with JMac Loves Milos. (J<3M might be my new name for Raonic.*) I know Rafa has owned Pico in the past, but that seemed uncharacteristically awful.
I have decided to pull for Errani to win it. I am not particularly found of any of the remaining women and I still have that irrational loathing of Sam Stosur. So I'd say "anyone but Stosur" but that seems terribly lame of me. Errani for the WIN.
*JMac was actually blowing Raonic AGAIN during the couple of games they showed on FOT. What is with that?

A Tsonga-Rafa final could be fun. (Long way to go, of course)
So disappointing seeing this level of play from Roger after how well he was playing in the months after Oz. I was resigned to his not winning the French (because, duh, Rafa), but seeing him playing so poorly makes my hopes for a Wimby and/or Olymp win fade.

Happy for Tsonga - come on!!
Good thing I have to go pick up the little man, because my heart can't take watching Roger's psyche unravel here.... If it were just a decent loss, I'd have no problem (or I would - you decide!). C'mon Roger!
ETA: Phew. Some steel.
ETAA: Are they cold?? I feel cold just watching them... Mirka has like 4 layers on...
