Wow, wow, wow. It didn't even occu- to me to check the tv until 10:30 and shazam the match was done and FED WON!!!! I am so damn excited I don't even know what. Silly me, yes in tennis Fed-Djok is the "big match", i.e. 2nd match, but in England obviously it's Andy M, I wasn't thinking.
Oops, aide here, showe- time, mo-e later.

Tsonga takes the third despite getting hit in the nads. (After which someone yelled, "New balls, please.")

I didn't hear that! How funny. I just loved how the crowd started cheering for Tsonga more after that--can't help but feel either sympathy (if you're a woman) or empathy (if you're a man) after that.
The more Tsonga plays serve and volley and with his size and all his throwing himself to the grass is making me really think about "Boom Boom" Becker. Very reminiscent. These two semis really are old school Wimbledon. . .
eta: wow, moon, that's quite the upset in the men's doubles. If Andy gets through the Brits aren't going to know what to do with themselves. Meanwhile, does that tartan cap with the bright orange fright wig attached that people wear when Andy's playing not quite feel like a compliment to anyone else?

A Brit is in the mens doubles final! First time in the Open era. Jonathan Marray (the Brit) and Frederick Nielsen (the Dane who played with Caroline at Hopman Cup) are into the final, beating the Bryan brothers in the semis.

On a ridiculous return forehand winner! And with a challenge that made both guys laugh. I cared more about Roger winning but it was Andy's reaction that made me tear up. I do now believe that winning Wimbledon will make the rest of his career easier for him to handle and him happier overall (because the press will ease up on him and let him live his own life).

Now a Brit in the men's final! I cannot believe he held on!
Anyone claiming Andy isn't emotional needs to see the rollercoaster of a last point.

Murray seems (tearfully) stunned that he finally made it to a Wimby final. I'm happy for him though I love me some JWT too. SW19 is going to be electric on Sunday.

How funny was that shot of Lendl when the rest of the Murray's box was cheering madly? I guess he probably saw that the ball had initially been called out but it did look funny to see him not move a muscle (to quote Chris Fowler) while everyone else is going nuts.
A "probing and prying" interview indeed. Yikes. No wonder Andy comes off so badly in the press--they're not going to report "and we asked him a ridiculously personal question that he has previously shown he doesn't want to answer that had nothing to do with tennis and he got a bit cranky and wanted the interview to end."
eta: that's an interesting point that Hannah Storm just made. For the latter part of his career, Lendl devoted his time to trying to win Wimbledon and was not able to do it. If Andy Murray were to win on Sunday that would be a monkey off the back for both Andy and Ivan.

So Nole stays #1 with a Murray win but loses it if Roger wins. Did I hear that correctly?

Yes, GrandSlam, and with Pete's weeks at #1 just one week more than Roger's. . . . There is so much history happening on Sunday it's ridiculous.

Somehow I will be disappointed no matter who wins. It would be cool for Roger to get that record after so closely falling short, but I also really want Andy to win his first major. For all his faults, its clear that he's trying his damnedest when he's out there, and I'd like to see him rewarded.

It's amazing how many men's finals in recent years have had a ton of tennis history turning on the result: Rafa-Roger Wimby 2008, Rafa-Nole French 2012, now Sunday's final. And there are probably more that I'm forgetting.

Aw geeze I feel like a bad pe-son not wanting Andy to win on Sunday. I mean, it would be so lovely fo- him to finally win his 1st Slam and omg at Wimbledon yet! Big, big deal. And yet. I don't think I am physically capable of rooting against Fed, it'd p-obably b-eak something, at least give me wicked indigestion and a mini hea-t attack.
Well, this is gonna be a hea-t attack match in any event. I won't be mad if Andy wins, in fact I would absolutely love to see him win Wimbledon, love! But not against Fed.
Yes on the histo-y I think you can count Fed and Nadal's career Slams, too. It's been a magic time in tennis.
And one little bitch(gotta have one!) The "Nole era"? Since when is one y an era? A phenomenal, magnificent, dominant y, oh yes, and maybe 18 mos, but c'mon. He may have an era, but he needs mo-e time fo- it to count as that, to me.
And mo-e goodness: V&S in the finals, no B-yans. Well, maybe mixed.
ETA: I'll be crying no matte- who wins on Sunday, and it will be both joy and sorrow.

The Bryan bros losing is always reason to celebrate. I see that they could end up playing each other in the mixed doubles final. Has that ever happened before?

acre - I have to say it went from the "Roger and Rafa Era" to "Nole and Rafa Era": one or the other won the last nine majors.
There's so much fun left in the mixed doubles draw. Bob Bryan/Liezel Huber vs Leander Paes/Elena Vesnina - tough because I dislike Liezel and really want Elena to get payback on her lying ass. However, active dislike for Leander + the possibility of Mike Bryan/Lisa Raymond in the final trumps all.
