Serena is injured? I'm watching the score board and decided to listen to AO Radio. That sucks.

Seriously, Andy complained about the scheduling? Come on. He's a featured match on Laver, does he actually think he should get the prime time over Fed? Fed?!! I can't comment on matches before today, I haven't paid much(any) attention to timing, but this is not the day to complain about it.
Well, I hope Fed-Tsonga is entertaining, which it should be given who they are, but not looking for tight, bit-my--nails competition. No thank you!
Damn, Serena is making this more difficult than it ought to be. All kudos to Sloane, but c'mon they are not actually in the same league. ETA: Oh, I take it back if she's injured, nothing she can do about that. And damn, I hope it's not much!

I'm pretty sure Serena choked at the end. Congrats, Sloane.

Well, congratulations to Sloane. Now, just beat that noisy, blonde b*&%^, Sloane!
Seriously, probably the most enjoyable thing about this match was that there was no screaming.
I've often wondered when pondering how injury-prone Serena's been, whether the extended periods where she let herself get out of shape could have lead to more injuries down the road. Anyone know?
Oh, and now I'm dreading all the excessive ESPN Hype around Sloane and "is this the end for Serena" and all that bs.
All that said, well done for Sloane to keep her concentration and confidence together in a situation that is often very difficult, when your opponent is injured but still able to keep playing. How many times have we seen players crumble in that situation and the injured player come out on top?

Oh fuck that noise. I mean excellent job Sloane, but we all know this is the end of the line for you and goddamn Serena deserves that trophy. Yes, I know, I know, you have to win it to win it. But she is so obviously the best in the WTA, and I would've loved to see the match-up with this take no prisoners Shazza, that would have been exciting. And I don't know if she is injured but damn that family has already had way more than their share of health issues.
Please Fed, don't completely ruin my day. I mean Tsonga is a worthy opponent, but still.
I like both Vika and Masha just fine, if they would just fucking shut up! A match between them is unwatchable for me, except checking in on mute. I'm sad.

Yay, as a rather quiet person who is quite over Serena, this makes me happy. Oh and hi, how are y'all?

Aw, now that's cute. Sloane's grandmother stays up to watch Sloane's matches on "that machine," meaning the computer.

Hi Jer, good to see you. I'm cool with you being over it, S has definitely tried one's patience over the years. I'm not personally attached, she's just so damn good I enjoy watching her. Same way that in my Djok-disliking time (he's matured) I still always loved his game.

I could be here for a Li Na vs Sloane final. Not gonna happen, but I can hope.
That's an interesting thought, harry. I think the doubles did her in. She was into it and running around and maybe tweaked her ankle and her back a little. She should not play doubles again for a while I think. I know she loves it but she's not a young thing who can bounce back and Venus isn't playing as well either, so the load is heavier. But Serena is in the best shape of her life, six pack and all, so I hope it won't be a recurring thing.
I guess hearing ESPN hype Sloane is better than them slobbering all over Sharapova. If she wins this title I will rage. I hope Li Na beats her. Sorry for the Maria fans out there, I can't be rational about her. I hate being petty but I want her to lose.

Hey jer! I was worried we might have lost you for good. Good to know you're still around!
I'm bummed for Serena, but I'm really happy for Sloane. I think I'd feel much better about it if I was at all confident that she had the ability to go all the way, and I think she's got it all going on physically, but I don't think she's quite there yet. I hope she has some kind of epiphany in the next 24 hours, because it would really be fun to see her do it.
Most importantly, I'm behind Li Na to beat Maria. Although I'm okay with Maria, i can't get behind her winning. Plus Na is definitely a top five favorite for me.

Seriously, Andy complained about not getting the night match! I wish they'd listen, Roger gets the night matches in every major tournament and I definitely think it's a disadvantage to him no matter how well he generally does in them. I still cringe remembering the Berdych match last September. Plus we US fans don't get to watch him live down under...
I don't think the commentators were unfair to Serena. She was obviously hurt but Sloane also seemed to be doing a good job of hanging in there. I liked that they pointed out her success at the net, that's always been one thing I've wished the Williams would do more of, in singles anyway.
I have a feeling Serena is mainly playing doubles in support of Venus, so I wonder how she will deal with that conflict.
Jer, I wondered where you were too, given how your guy has been playing!
I would love to see a Sloane / Li Na final too though I realize that's a tough road.

I should be asleep, I so should be asleep ... but since I'm not, I'll just babble on. I take the point about night matches and if they're actually always an advantage or not, and yes Andy should get one, he's good enough. Today just wasn't the day to complain about it, especially with that yawn of a so-called match.
Still bummed about Serena, I thought she would sail unimpeded to the 16th Slam. Oh well.
And boys, good on you and all, obviously Tsonga wasn't gonna be a cakewalk(I actually love Jo-Willy) and I'm fine with 4 sets. Fed, you win the 1st 2, then the 3d can go to Tsonga, win it in 4, it can be a nice competitive match without giving me angst, okay? God I just wish all these players would get with the program and do what I want. My ideas are the best, just follow them!
