Pam Shriver sees it as a strategic ploy from Maria. I pretty much agree with Evert on this one that this is about personal feelings being hurt. I find it especially amusing given Sloane Stephens' interview in which stuff she said about Serena was in a similar "off the record" type moment. Sloane had an excuse being a relative newbie to the media; Serena really doesn't.

Get well soon fala - and yes, PT is critical. Boring, sometimes painful, but it makes all the difference IME.
Holy hell, that is stunning. I definitely wonder if Nadal is somehow not in top shape? Losing is one thing, but in straight sets, in the 1st round? Shocking. It's not like he's a guy who's prone to going off the rails now and then, he's consistent. I was dismayed at Fed's draw, but this is not how I wanted it to open up. Hope Nadal is okay.
Can't watch(listen to) Vika, at all, but I hope she's okay too. That would suck.
And damn, they should lay the hell off Andy M: talking about it in a documentary is completely unlike being hounded while trying to do one's job, and a job that requires intense focus yet. He was a kid, a victim, and I'm sure he's said all there is to say about it.
ETA: Oh, JMac has it bad for Nadal! He's been bleating about him being the "real" GOAT since at least like 2008. Oops, no, I lie - it was 2007 the year before Nadal's 1st epic Wimbledon win, at a time when 2/3 of Nadal's wins over Fed were on clay, and they didn't play that much in the late stages of other GS because Nadal had already lost. Much more even now, unquestionable that Nadal was better than Fed a while, but that has nothing to do with what JMac was saying.

Pretty clear we will eventually hear about Rafa's knee (unlike in the Rosol match, it looked to be an issue today) but good of him to not mention it now.
So much for questioning if Lleyton Hewitt is a serious threat here. Given how erratic Isner is on grass, I dare say Hewitt might be the favorite to make the QFs!
Oh and I realize the Centre Court matches ended quickly but putting Keothavong on there to fill time was just asking for her to get destroyed.

Ha! I shouldn't have disparaged ESPN so quickly for including Hewitt in the top-heavy bottom half. He's looking good out there. Cannot believe he managed to come back from 1-4 in the second.

I am a bit speechless at the moment. Wow.
But not enough to prevent me saying that JMac is an over-opinionated ass.

Wonderful about your new place, fala, and horrible about your ankle. It's true about PT and doing the exercises is key. I made the mistake of not doing the exercises they gave me when I twisted my ankle very badly, and it's never been the same. Hope you're enjoying your new home.
I wonder if the 3 week break between the French and Wimby (2015) will help someone like Rafa. Rest his knee for a week or two and play one tune up tournament on grass? I watched a little of the match before I went to sleep and expected him to win. His knee is a huge, huge problem right now. Maybe he should have had that surgery.
Hope Vika is okay from her spill and that it doesn't affect her too much, but I'm doubtful.

Serena's skirts get shorter and shorter. I wish she'd cover her ass. What the hell is up with this mini skirt phase? Weird.

Let's not forget, this is the woman who walked out onto Arthur Ashe in a shiny black catsuit. Serena has never been interested in covering her ass.
Hmm . . . that sounds almost metaphorical.

Thanks skyz! I had no idea they were doing that. There appear to be some great interviews there.
Has anyone here ever actually been to Wimbledon? I seem to remember someone talking about it, but I can't remember who. I'm kind of curious about the cost of tickets/grounds passes, how easy/hard it is to get them, and what it's like to watch a match on Centre Court.

Wow, thanks from me too skyz! Hope this streaming will continue through the tournament!

I'm not enjoying this Ferrer match. I'm not interested in watching him lose.

This forum is so fucking awesome, I'd read it even if I never watched tennis. I also laughed because my sister has frequently said to me, "That's not a dress, Kiki. It's a SHIRT."
I know this is weird to say after the French, but I wonder if Nadal is effectively done (cue chesty sweeping in).
Late to the game, but who do you all see taking the titles? I'd love to see a surprise on the men's side. Maybe Haas [/fantasy].
I still miss Santoro...

Oh wow, I hope Nadal isn't done! I mean, he's awesome, and the game would miss him so much - a big gaping hole. Incredible player, and class to the bone.
The titles? Serena all the way, and I expect Djok. I mean they're the favorites for a reason. Djok has more competition, less total dominance, but still. Maybe Andy, I'd put Fed in 3d. Haas would be so fantastic I can't even say, Tsonga would be fun, but not the same joy as Tommy. If Fed can't win I'd love to see someone new, not the same old.
Oh Fabrice, love! Didn't we have a riff going about Fabrice on a tropical island?
ETA: Wow, Feli is taking it to Simon. Of course grass is his thing, and definitely not Simon's but I wouldn't have expected this. Though the match isn't done, so we shall see.

We totally did, acre! Something about yachting in the blue Kool-Aid waters of French Polyneisa. I'd love to go back and find it, but have no idea where to start.
What, there's a tournament going on?
