That's what I don't get either. Fine, they want the finals--keep the finals. The rest, leave it to ESPN2 please. And as a Days fan, it isn't soaps that they're desperate to air either. That's the only soap that is left on NBC and they've fired every actor that was a vet and making more money than they wanted to spend--they sent one extremely popular couple out to lunch, or a vacation, or something and they didn't even come back for their daughter's engagement and subsequent kidnapping (I love soaps).

My haterade for today goes to... myself.
I HATE feelign this nervous before a Federer match. The guy has now won all four majors... why should I care? Oh wait, he still has a record to brake. DAM IT! Urgh, I just want to chillax but I can't. DAUM!

I hate myself for living in this country, where NBC can embargo the Federer match. Asses. Really? They think some casual fan is going to want to watch Karlovic? They're just hedging their bets and wanting to stack the deck. Pricks. I need Fowler stat to make some heavy allusions to the score.

I agree. I LOVE me some Federer but I can see most fans enjoying the Haas/Joko game MUCH MORE. Ivo's game was a serving contest. Where as Haas and Joko will deliver the goods!
I say this because whilst I am grateful for seeing Channel 9 show Federer, I can see many more people enjoying the Haas/Joko game.

As an AMC viewer, I feel your pain for watching legacy characters/vets just one day randomly going out for some milk and never returning. But clearly NBC's biggest issue is the Today juggernaut. So they can't broadcast tennis when Matt and his prison hair is on air, and since the Today show doesn't air live across all time zones, and broadcasters seem to forget just how huge the US is, they just schedule their tennis broadcast for the same time in all time zones, thereby saying "Screw you, California tennis fans, probably the largest contingency of tennis fans in the US due to the dense population and year-round temperate climate, we can't broadcast our Wimbledon coverage live, because Matt will throw a hissy fit and we pay him an assload of money, and we can't let ESPN2 broadcast live, because then, well, you'll realize how badly we suck, so...you can't watch anything other than the first three hours of ESPN2's week two coverage because, well, as you've already suspected, we suck ass." That's what really, really chaps my ass about NBC. The west coast only got the last set and a half of Wawrinka/Murray on Monday. And we probably won't get any subsequent ESPN2 coverage today because their broadcast window was only from 10-2 ET, which gives us a whopping one hour.

Wow, West Coast gets more screwed than CT.
Weirdly though, here in WI it is some local show. Not the Today show at all.
And to continue on in the NBC hate--they don't want Beaker/Haas. Why can't they let ESPN continue airing just that match? They let ESPN2 finish up with the Federer match when NBC wanted Roddick's match.

Federer was in a third set tiebreak, so the assumption was that the match would end quickly. With Haas/Djokovic they hadn't even started the third set when the window was about to close, so they just didn't begin the broadcast.
I agree that it's STUPID not to allow them to broadcast the end of a match the network has no interest in covering, but, again, rather than understand how sports broadcasting has changed with the advent of live streaming, and allowing ESPN2 the early matches while NBC could have covered the later matches, ALL LIVE, they embargo what they think will draw the largest audience, and screw everything to hell.

I like how they seemed to be shamed into admitting that the Roddick/Murray match was "previously recorded." No freakin' duh, jerks. When we were stuck watching last year's final we kinda figured out the stupid "embargoing." And all so that they didn't have to interrupt Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb and whatever crap they talk about ON THE FOURTH HOUR OF THE TODAY SHOW!
What kills me is they'd never pull these stunts with golf, or NASCAR and yet they don't give a second thought to screwing around with their tennis coverage. Like we're all a pack of halfwits who can't figure out JUST BY THE LINE SCORE when their broadcasts begin who wins and in how many sets.

I have to say that I hate Serena today. Like really, really. I'm so pissed at her. How she reacted when she won, falling to her knees, rubbing it in. Acting like she'd never won anything before. It's irrational because Serena deserved this win and can behave anyway she pleases, but dammit I wanted her to be a little more thoughtful to Venus. I can't stand her today and am so mad Venus lost.
I haven't ever been this mad at Serena like this and I think it's because Venus actually looked gutted to lose today and usually she can at least grin and bear it when Serena beats her. And now I'm mad at Serena all over again!

It's the Venus/Serena dynamic, though. Venus has always been the more sensitive, thoughtful sister, and Serena's always been the brash, obnoxious one. They do follow their parents that way, and while Venus may look more like Richard she clearly has Oracene's temperament while Serena is all Richard's daughter.

You know, the Bryans did a bit of an interview with the BBC just before Wimbledon started and they seemed nice and i'm sure they are.. but when they do that chest bump, i just want to run them over with a flatbed truck.

Nenad Zimonjic just took his shirt off and NBC failed to show it. Fuck you NBC. Of all the bullshit moves you've pulled this year, I think I hate you for this one most of all.

Aww, NBC just redeemed itself by showing it after the commercial in slow motion. Thanks NBC! I've always loved you!
