No! Please oops, go. He's playing, you know that and that's the big jinx hurdle. Think of it as a reconnaissance mission. You'll come back and tell us all what getting around the grounds is like and how it is getting to Roland Garros from Paris and then more people will go next year.
Could not have said it better myself.
hmmm, admin, face is quite puffy but besides that, he looks okay. Doesn't look a thing like he used to but that's another story.
eta: oh, and oops, I don't know if you were an Andre fan but he's giving the trophy to the winner on Sunday (10th anniversary of getting his Grand Slam).

Heh. It's still on the table - but will take some thinking, to be sure. And I can fill you in on some details already: the B train at CDG to the #10....

Okay, so I went over to Twitter to see if Roddick had any reaction yet to Fed's win (he didn't) but, well, I don't know that I can hate Andy anymore--he got as excited at finding a Whole Foods as I always do when I travel. Pathetic, but true.

Congrats to all of Fed fans. He is fighting tooth and nail in this tournament.
I am a huge JMDP fan (have been following him for a long time.) Although he did not pull off the upset- I am proud of him for the match and the tournament. I am sure he sobbed after the match- as he cries a bit- but from getting wiped out by Fed 3,0,0 at the AO- plus his other continued growth- makes me very happy. I hope he continues to grow and one day can get a grand slam title.

Chesty, that's exactly it--he didn't disappear in this match. Once he's over the extreme disappointment (his postmatch was upsetting) I hope he recognizes that no choking occurred. I still don't love JMdP when he's serving out of his head--as he was for a large portion of the match--but I like him lots when he has to go to his other weapons. eta: Roger's postmatch is up now and there are loads of good lines in there but this exchange cracked me up:

I think I ages a 100 years watching that match.
The hardest part of all was knowing that Del P was playing amazing tennis and at times, Feds couldn't do anything about it. He was playing like Soderling. Huge serves, BIG strokes from the back of the court. I am spurprised Feds took this out, seriously. And people couldn't have said he played bad either. had he not won. DP was just playing THAT amazingly.
I am however SO happy Federer won. This type of victory, this type of player, really sets him up well for the final. I so SO SO want him to win now. I am annoyed as I have made plans for Sunday night (when the match is on here in Australia) so I'll have to either be at a place where the match is on or get updates SOMEHOW! BAH!
Brilliant match. So so happy. Now I am babling. WIN THIS BABY ROGER!

I just found out that I'm going to be working all day Sunday. Do I record and watch unspoiled or not? I'm leaning toward yes, but I don't know if I have the willpower. Also I did that for both the French Open and Wimbledon finals last year, and well, it didn't turn out the way I wanted (although Roger losing to Rafa wasn't nearly as devastating as him losing to the Sod would be).

We're here for you, baby! Can you get updates via cell? Otherwise you might just have to cancel your plans and hang out online with us crazy people.

I'll be working during the match as well, I'll be recording the match, following it every 30 minutes at work via scoreboard and watching when I get home if Federer wins. Erasing it if he doesn't.

I just found out that I'm going to be working all day Sunday. Do I record and watch unspoiled or not It's a relatively big deal if Fed were to win or lose so depending on your "lifestyle" it might be harder to avoid the news than you might think. I moan about mainstream media's lack of interest in tennis but you might be spoiled by mistake...

I couldn't do it. I'd have to know. I am however embarassed to admit that I'm hesitant to watch the men's final on Sunday because of the extreme tension I'll feel. I might actually go out for the morning and play tennis while recording the tennis and then check the internent when I get back before I watch it. That sounds absolutely awful I know.
That's why I'm looking forward to the women's final tomorrow. I like both of them and will be equally happy no matter who wins. It starts here at 8:00 so me and my coffee can curl up on the couch, relax and watch a, hopefully, great match. I can't do that though when I'm really pulling for one of the players. Does anyone else feel this way or am being really weird and what the hell am I going to do when I'm at the Roger's Cup in the stands and Federer or Ferrer or Lopez is going down? Curling up in the fetal position behind the seats with my fingers in my ears, singing "la, la, la" won't be an option.

Breezy, I have acted that way even for major finals in which Roger was way ahead. That he ended up winning in 3 or 4. You'd look back and think "I was worried about that?"
I have to be honest, as much as I like Dinara (and don't dislike Kutzy) I won't have any nerves watching the women. And I will have nerves watching Roger. I've been having this cautious optimism for him but needless to say it was almost gone today. I was saved by the fact that I had to leave for work where I have no computer (I'm a proofreader) and I was busy so the best I could do was check the cell periodically. But a co-worker announced it when he won! Easiest way to get through a nerve-wracker I know.
I'll probably make sure it's recording and check it from time to time, check to see if the website is ahead of the cable TV (it usually is) - that sort of thing. Maybe do laundry. And if he wins, watch it all again.
The one time I really felt bad was when I had to work during last year's USO, but this is Sunday so I'll be watching.
That's okay with me admin. You're a good sport, heh.

I moan about mainstream media's lack of interest in tennis but you might be spoiled by mistake... Well, I'm a college student, so the work is at a grocery store, which means no access to a computer. If that was the case there's no way I'd be able to hold out, I'd be checking every two minutes. The last couple of times it's been relatively easy to avoid finding out the result, although I did make my brother start my recording of the Wimbledon final last year so I wouldn't be accidently spoiled during some sports update or something before I could get it started. I think I'm going to try to hold out and watch, but if Roger gets behind I'll probably end up cracking and checking the score. And I agree with what others have said about the women's final. Even though I came into this tournament totally behind Dinara (and I'm still slightly rooting for her in the final), I'll be happy no matter which lady wins tomorrow.

What is hilarious is the local news reporting on the semi results: 1 - Three different broadcasts. All three only show clip from the first semi. 2 - None mention that Roger had a serious scare. Only one even mentions del Potro. (Well, del Portrow) 3 - Three different broadcasts. Three different pronunciations of Soderling. Sod-erling, SOW-derling, Sow-DER-line. Makes McEnroe seem normal.
