Maybe early, but there's never too soon to start talking about the best slam of all

Most of the WCs have been announced: www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/about/pdf/wildcards_2009.pdfI'm disappointed to see Alex Bogdanovic being given yet another wildcard. He is well past the time and age of showing any real promise, and has shown constant contempt for the LTA and the people time and money put into helping him become a failure. The WC would have been better off going to a young promising British player, even if they went out in the 1st round, because chances are, that's as far as Bogdanovic will go too. I'm not surprised that Laura Robson has a wildcard, and i hope it's not too soon for her, but i think it will be a year too early. I'm also delighted that Lacher De Brito has been given a wildcard. I'm hoping for more drama. Just realised that Nic Mahut isn't down for one, they have to give him a card, damn it. He IS grass court. I hope he wins Queens now!

Cool, thanks for that news. It should be another great slam. This year has been on FIRE with the slams.

SERIOUS!? How old would she be now? She was around in Graff's era of players...

38. years. old.
Seriously. I've only heard it from the BBC Eurosport coverage, but i would doubt they'd be wrong. It was David Mercer and he knows much. I knew she was having a 'comeback', but yeah..
Aha, here it is: "On 6 April 2008, nearly 12 years after retiring, Date announced she would return to the women's professional tour at the age of 37"
Also Laura Robson will the youngest player to compete at Wimbledon since 1995 and Martina Hingis.

I'm interested to see the seeds this year on the women's side. I wonder if Venus and Serena will be bumped up to #1 and #2 given that Dinara got knocked out in the 3rd round at Wimby last year? Of course she made it to the final of s'Hertogenbosch, but I don't think that measures up to winning or getting to the finals of Wimby. I think it could go either way.

Wimbledon is the best slam for really looking at the player's ability on grass and seeding (hey! gardening pun) accordingly. That said, if Dinara drops down in the seeding I hope someone explains to her it had nothing to do with her French loss because she's a bit fragile psychologically right now.
I love Mahut. Crazy alien.

When you get groups of women and tennis players together and well... it all goes crazy.

Nothing really interesting coming from the qualifying round so far. Hrbaty is out, young Aussie Bernard Tomic is through to the 2nd day, lots of British women crashing out, the usual.
Sesil Karatanchdrugban is through so far. Also, she's taken Kazakh citizenship and is planning to play for the Kazakhstan Fed Cup team. I think she upset the Bulgarian Fed Cup people at some point last year, choosing to play elsewhere instead of their round match, so i dare say they didn't want her anymore. Or maybe she's thrown a wobbly, who knows*.
*Ah, now i know. It's money. They're playing her to play for them.
