Yeah. Here I was, all happy to not have Mary Carillo in Australia and all it meant was more Pam. Talk about lose/lose.

I've decided I want Dolgo to win the whole thing. Wouldn't that be a hoot Yeah. Here I was, all happy to not have Mary Carillo in Australia and all it meant was more Pam. Talk about lose/lose. Oh I know! If only they'd get rid of both of them and bring Martina and Lindsay (but I agree - not one or the other - need both).

Looks like it's on its way to happening, boring!
It was pretty wacky commentating during that match with people chiming in from all parts. But Pam piping in with that one had me agog. There was a whole bunch of salt being tossed around among the commentators as well, with a whole bunch of snark at Brad....

I know, and Brad is too thick to get it. That's what makes it fun.

Holy. . . he did it! Was Robin not playing up to snuff because of himself or did Dolgopolov's game just make a mess out of Soderling's game?

All right! I can breathe easier and watch tennis now! YES!
Good going Dolgo. Really, he needs to grow a nick name? Lexie-D? A-Dol? Al-Do? Dolgo? Alexie? Al? Sasha? SOMETHING.
Okay. Come on Vera.

I like the detail on the back of both women's tops. I need a better look at it, but I think I like Benesova's outfit.

Oh my, oh my - fascinating stuff. I mentioned I'd not see Dolgo before, but in fact I'm not sure I'd even heard of him! Well I guess I must have, obviously I do follow tennis, and he's in the top 50. I guess it just never sank in, but oh my. And he's really not a big guy is he, looked like Courier rather towered over him in that on court interview. And awww, when he was 3! So cute, and I freaking loved Medvedev, saw him win in New Haven many a year ago (beating Agassi in the final for extra acre satisfaction.) Yeah, I'm impressed,
I was wanting Sod to win, but not where I care very much. Not at all bothered by this very interesting win and player. Always is someone in a Slam, somebody who takes out a high seed, that you don't expess. Just never know if they're a flash in the pan, or someone you say "I remember when....." Can't give too many examples of the former obviously cause they don't make a lasting run - but then there are the McEnroe's(John of course), the Becker's and so forth. We shall see, but regardless, an impressive win.
I like both women's outfits, as far as I can tell. Rather on the skimpy side, but basically nice. Geez have I been confusing Zvonoreva with someone else? Doesn't even look like her to me.. And I'm sure I'm not confused, after all she was in the last 2 GS finals, right? Or 2 of the last 3? Sigh, that's how much impression the women's game makes on me these days, I feel like I don't even recognize the #2 seed.
And is it just the atdhe feed or is Benesova really that thin? Not scary skinny, but mighty mighty slim, like Mary Jo in her day.

I have to admit that I really enjoy Dolgopolov's game. It's a lot of chipping and the bounce was strange but it's nice to see someone really screw up Soderling's timing.
The interview with Courier was so cute... and Jim must have felt so old when Dolgo said he was too young to remember their first meeting.

Okay, it's taken a long time and a lot of work, but I'm finally getting impressed with Vera's game. But still, again, some more - win a Slam and then we'll seal the deal.
When Jim Courier feels old, I am ancent. And yeah, he's 40, that's officially not a young thing anymore. Jesus, Courier is 40, I reallly am ancient. Shivers - and Edberg is 45, oh lordy. Aren't these guys supposed to not age, unlike we ordinary mortals? I have no issue with MccEnroe getting middle aged and grey, but these guys were the kids I watched. Bam, you're offtopic acre, warning, warning!

Agree that Benesova is slim but not skinny. Speaking of weight- is it just me or does Vera look like she has lost a we e bit of weight during the tournament? She is still not at her USO weight but she looks a little smLler than she did a week ago. And where are the camera shots of her coach?
I was watching one of those TC classic matches once and Chris Evert was a tiny little thing. In particular in her first years.
Liked the Jim Dolgo interview

Hah, BORING(again sorry about caps, keyboard issues make it hard to bold etc), I was gonna say hard work by Vera, of course! But yes, it's been quite grudging from me, so I suppose I've put in a bit of work myself. But mostly hers. It's not that I ever disliked her - I just didn't even bother to think about her. Umm, still don't mostly, I don't know why, can't help it. I'm still in a bit of disbelief. Vera? Zvonoreva? SHE'S #2 in the world? Surely you're kidding me. But yeah she is, and yeah she has the results, and yeah I'm starting to see why.
But I'm sorry, the fact that Woz is 1 and Vera 2 mostly to me reflects on the pitiful state of women's tennis. As does Schiavone winning a Slam. I like them all, I'm happy for Schiavone, but gimme a break. Give me Steffi, or the like. Serena, Kim yes. Maria and Justine healthy, yes. Venus at Wimbledon, absolutely. Ummm - can't think of anyone else I really respect.

Ugh. The lack of sleep and over indulgence in wine has caught up with me.
Cheer for Melzer for me.
Sweet dreams.

Well Vera did make two slam finals last year. I agree though. Other than Serena and possibly Kim there don't seem to be any really tough women players.
