Okay, I need to get some sleep. It's way late. This is does not bode well for tomorrow. . .err, I mean later today.

I assume you're referring to her play. Do you think it's just vanity that keeps her wearing dresses that are too small around the booty? If her goal is to sell these dresses, surely seeing that the dress doesn't even flatter a supremely fit, six-foot tall goddess will dampen sales.
It just occurred to me for the first time that she and Michelle O. have the same body type, with Venus obviously a younger version. I hope for Venus's sake she marries half as well. :-)

Yes I am. The dress bothers me.

Venus' dress is nice... but not for tennis at all. Someone on another board compared Caroline's dress to something Miss Piggy would wear and I can't unsee it.
Davydenko's loss messed up my bracket too. Had him going to the quarters.
What is it with Querrey and the majors? 10 out of 14 first round losses. That is absolutely horrible.
Cilic and del Potro are back to back on Court 2 today. Both matches are against opponents who normally shouldn't matter to them (Donald Young, Dudi Sela) but they're so up and down.

I took a nap so I could watch Nole live and just woke up from actual sleep. I think I deserve an award. LOL! He and my ladies pick Sharapova look good so far so I'm happy. ESPN cracked me up boo hooing about Ryan Harrison. I mean, dude had a decent US Open and they're ready to anoint him as the next big thing? Where is Mary Carillo?

She left ESPN.'
Mannarino had two good tournaments leading up to Oz and really seemed like an obvious choice to beat Harrison. I didn't hear the ESPN discussion, but I can forgive PMac for "boo-hoo-ing" (ha!) given his position in developing young US players. The rest of the ESPN folks? Give me a break.

Grand Slam tennis hooray!
Amassing comments on various things: Venus has the legs for anything I think - personally the outfit I loved best on her was a few years ago at Wimbledon when something happened to her regular outfit and she just wore short white shorts - yowza. Goddess indeed.
I'm dumb and missed that the tourny had actually started, so haven't seen anything yet, but definitely hope to see a rerun of Roger's sublime match - I can never get enough of watching him in full flight, to me that is the ideal, the embodiment of what tennis could/should be.
But I'm in mourning - Davy, sweet Davy gone already!
AND I just really realized that Clijsters-Safina have a 1st round match, that is truly horribly awful luck of the draw. Two of my favorites, and someone has to lose in the first round! I do expect it to be Dinara, and I guess that's what I want, but really I don't want either of them out already. If I thought Dinara could make a serious run I might root for her, but then again I love Kim, and I also have much more confidence in her, for obvious reasons.
Venus or Kim winning would make me very happy. And yeah, if Zvonoreva can actually do it, I will bow down and take her seriously, for real. I should already, she has the results. And right, who's #1? Woz? I'll believe it when I see it.
Men, well - I'm a certified Fed-fan, love him to death and that's the only outcome I would truly celebrate. But I do really like Rafa too, and would be happy for him if he makes the historic win. Anyone else, eh. I'd like to see DelPo do well, but would be well satisfied if he makes like the quarters or something - that's very good after a long bad injury layoff.
Just generally looking forward to wallowing in tennis and all of your company!
ETA: Ok, I just saw a shot of Venus and her "dress", and really, who is she kidding? That's a shirt, not a dress! I mean it's not even a LONG shirt, it's just a tank top over shorts.

Damn. Chardy is playing like crap and that insufferable Tomic is going to win.

Yeah, I'm not so pleased about that outcome either.
I remember Venus wearing shorts--that was a good look for her. This dress is too short, too tight, too bunchy at the bizzarro zipper and too shiny. What is up with all the shiny this tournament? I know there is a cotton shortage out there but I don't think satin is a good replacement. Djokovic's outfit is super shiny too. And so matchy-matchy that he looks like he's wearing Hugh Hefner's summer PJs. And the "Nole" on the tail of his shirt across his butt? Is he paying homage to Juicy Couture? I wonder what Rafa is going to come out with. Hopefully something much better than his end-of-the-year nothing matching outfit.
I finally saw Wozniacki's outfit and, sadly, I was reminded of my college years when I would buy skirts from the Goodwill and roll the waist to make them shorter. I think Wozniacki can afford to not have that effect.
For the good, I love Roger in blue but I like the yellow. He looked nice. Maria's dress was okay. I'm watching Radwanska/Krumm right now and Krumm's lime green with pink accents is good if a little sherbet-ey. And Radwanska is wearing the always-good white and black. I really do prefer the top/skirt for the women over the dresses.

Rafa and Roger have been wearing their AO kit since the beginning of the year, so if you've seen Rafa play at all this year, you've already seen what he'll be wearing. To me, the material Venus used looks cheap. That and the fact that the cut is not suited for movement are my main problems with it.

It's just not a tennis dress is it?
Marcos Daniel is awfully handsome. It's good to look pretty while you are losing.

I really like the slimmer shorts on Rafa. They're more like the shorts Roger wears.

I'm watching Donald Young and Cilic. Young looks like he's put on some muscle, and has some nice depth to his strokes. I don't expect he'll win, but with the way Cilic has been playing lately, who knows?

Too bad ESPN isn't showing that match or, heck, any of the other matches. They can't bitch and moan about airing an awful match when they don't need to be showing it. Good thing Daniel just retired because it is thoroughly annoying that the ESPN tennis producers still don't get it after all these years. (I got PMac's book from my secret Santa and even he talks about how annoying it is.)
Of course I just wish Court 14 had cameras, but I'll have to sit here hoping Feli makes it through to the third round when he'd meet Rafa. Only way I'll see him on TV--although he will be meeting Tomic in the 2nd round and I'm sure that will be on a show court, just not a court ESPN will show.
BWAAHAHAHA--is anyone watching Radwanska/Date-Krumm on TTC? Radwanska smashed her racquet but kept playing with it and a few points later she hit a ball and every part of the racquet except the handle went flying into the stands. Radwanska just stood there holding the handle with the most confused look on her face.

I saw it lt - it was hilarious, mostly because of her expression. I've never seen anything like that before.
Breath easy, Lopez won.
I'm hoping the Hewitt/Fat Dave match is still on when I get up in the morning. I'd forgotten that they didn't like each other. Then again, does anyone like Hewitt?
