Yes! Come on, Rafa. Make this a match.

Fucking never mind, then. If you break and can't hold serve then what's the point?
I think John said that Novak was throwing up his arms because of the crowd noise during points. Good comparison though, lol.

Heh. There better be a tourney official sitting near Uncle Toni (barf) if Brian Early is sitting near Marijan Vajda.

I admit I've never been a Federer fan but I can appreciate what he's done and his matches in his prime are genuinely good matches. It would be frustrating, especially if I wanted his opponent to win, but I will say I would enjoy watching because he would at least stay classy during the match. Rafa is as humble as they come so no need to even say more.
But there's something about a #1 player egging the US Open crowd to cheer for him (as he did in the fifth set of the semi and the final) that really irritates me and makes me hope Novak's dominance ends soon.

It's interesting to me how cyclical tennis is--no matter how good a player is there is always someone who they can't figure out. Rafa is completely gobsmacked out there. He's not playing worse than he has the rest of the tournament and Djokovic isn't playing better than he's played--but their match ups since Djokovic has gotten better this year just show that Rafa cannot figure the guy out.
And the top players all seem to have a thing that is really annoying: Roger is so haughty about believing he's the best no matter what (and this is coming from a fan, I want him to be dominant more than any other player I've ever been a fan of); Rafa cannot process that his ticks are time consuming and disruptive; Djokovic needs to be the one the fans are rooting for--so much he cannot just play the match without begging for applause; Murray gets sour and curmudgeonly whether he's winning or losing. They all got something. . .

If Rafa hates wet shirts then why does Nike put him in shirts that cling so tightly when wet? I hate this look for Nike. It looks disgusting. The shirt, not Rafa.

I don't understand what is with Rafa's shirts this year. They all stick to him like fruit roll-ups when he sweats. It looks so uncomfortable.

Fucking nice rally! But Novak you don't need to raise your arms for praise all the time. You look needy then. But he really is needy which is bizarre.

Some amazing rallies in this match (including the one just finished, with Djoker down 3-4 in the third), and the game at 2-2 in the second, I think, was sublime. But the match overall, despite the electricity in the crowd, just feels off to me.

I agree. But I can't figure out why--by and large, the points are ridiculously good but the match itself feels herky jerky. Maybe too many breaks? No rhythm?
