As long as Rafa's injuries don't involve clay season, he's not going to be in Serena's position. However, he does have to do well at AO to not fall behind Ferrer.
The doubles tournament is all over the place. The losing team had MP in all three matches... and pretty sure no one figured Granollers/Lopez (due to playing the Bryans) and Marray/Nielsen (due to lack of play together) would have come through.

But that is her position, basically. I mean she's #3 and he's #4. Oh I think I see. She is totally, hands down the best, don't know if I'd say that about him: one of the best, not the best.

I wasn't referring to the end of 2012 Serena. Yes, now she's #3 but for 2011 and pre-US Open 2012, she was lurking at lower numbers.

Gotcha, I was thinking of now, but in the past S (and V, to a lesser extent) have been vastly under ranked based on how good they actually a-e. Actual results(well, lack of), no, but on potential, histo-y, and in S's case especially, th-eat and upcoming domination.

Is there absolutely no body in Murray's camp that is kind enough to stop him from playing in gold shorts?

Gold shorts with that black bicycle top - tolerable. The white version - gross.
ETA: Can someone (by someone, I mean Marray or the British crowd) please convince Freddie Nielsen that it's perfectly okay to be a very good doubles players and it's not purely a money issue? I realize that Wimbledon check would allow him to make any career choice he'd like but it'd be a shame to break this partnership up.

Speaking of which Mooncreek, they won again! Now normally I wouldn't be happy to see Max and Daniel lose but in this case I'll make an exception because I just love the fact that Marray and Nielsen keep winning matches they aren't supposed to win.

lt - thinking of you, hope you made it out to London! The snow hit in CT about 10-10:30, but not too bad until noon-ish. I imagine it hit NYC ea-lie-. Would suuuck to miss going to YEC when you have tickets and plans set.
Djok and Andy do indeed have a big rival-y going on, too bad fo- me that I can't get excited about them, o- feel much affection. I mean, they'-e okay. I'm not against them, but I don't see becoming a fan. Except of the games obviously, and the-e I like Djok's best. Some dumb a-ticle made a little comment about maybe Fed/Nadal should step aside fo- the new big rival-y. Step aside?? What an idiot. The time will come when they step aside and until they'-e damn good and ready they should continue to play thei- own awesome games.

Watching Murray-Djoker today I realized something that puts me off about Murray: the sound the ball makes coming off of his racket. There's this little muffled thud, which contrasts with the satisfying, crisp sounds coming off other players' rackets. I remember early in Federer's career, he hit a hard, flat forehand down the line that sounded like someone shot a rifle. That, plus I don't like the aesthetics of his movement. He has this way of hitting his forehand that's kind of an abbreviated bunt. It reminds me a bit of how McEnroe hit his forehand, but McEnroe's movements were so much more beautiful visually. ETA: I forgot to post this article from the NYT about Roger's fitness guy: Roger's fitness guy

I did! I switched to the 9 am flight and found a hotel near the airport to stay at last night. Worked brilliantly. My regular hotel let me check in early this morning and I went to the day session. I'm getting ready to go to the night session (I'm missing the doubles as we speak) so I'll write more later but I'll say four things: 1) Feli was there! Cheering on Granollers and Lopez and then the three of them snuck in a side entrance (luckily right in front of me) to watch some Ferrer. Did I take more pictures of Feli watching than I did Roger or David? Maybe. . . 2) Damn but Paes and Stepanek piss me off. They're just so BMOC. (Mostly Paes but he seems to expect Stepanek to act like a pompous ass as well.) 3) Roger was not playing well but it wasn't because David was playing poorly that Ferrer lost. Roger just kept picking it up when it was most important to do so. And Ferrer had more troubles in the last games of the two sets than he did in any of the other games. Fun points though. Some real beauties. 4) While I was waiting for a changeover in the doubles to go to my seat Greg Rusedski came out to take a phone call (he's doing commentary here). He looks so much like a run-of-the-mill business man that I didn't even realize it was him for a few minutes. It's that big head of his that gave it away. eta: I mean that literally, he has a big head compared to the rest of his body.
Don't know what to wish for tonight. I want Ferrer to join Roger in the semis so I'm not quite sure the best way to root tonight. I think I have to go Delpo in three (or maybe I'm telling myself that because I cannot root for Tipsy in any situation).
eta: I just checked the flight status for my original flight last night and it was cancelled. PHEW!!!!! Good thing I get so paranoid about things.

Here in NY, we had a snowstorm that normally wouldn't have meant anything more than shovevling and a bit of wind. However, due to Sandy making everything weak, it actually caused more damage to my place than the big storm. Every bush and tree that was on my neighbor's side of our chain link fence is now hanging on my side and the metal siding that was holding our phone line snapped and took the phone with it - while during Sandy I was good due to having dial-up and a charged laptop, the opposite is a different kind of annoying. I now have to teach my mother, who doesn't like cellphones (and really doesn't need one normally due to never leaving the house alone), how to use this simple one I just got at Walmart.

Thanks for asking harry, it really was making me nervous. Since I couldn't reach my cat sitter through the vet I ended up calling one of the vets on the cell phone # she left on the animal hospital's door. Luckily, they are a very caring bunch so they reached my cat sitter for me (she's a vet tech) and she contacted me. Hopefully it's all good but I don't know if I lost power again so I'm keeping my fingers a bit crossed. I hope everything gets fixed quickly on your end, mooncreek.
Boy, did Tipsy stink it up tonight. I was getting a kick out of how many racquets he would throw to his coaches to get re-strung. I think the first one was for tension and all the rest were broken strings. You know its bad when I stopped caring about what it meant to Ferrer and just wanted it to end so I could go back to the hotel to go to the gym.

Won't have the phone until at least Monday but my mom is okay regarding the cell phone.
My reaction to Tipsy's match went like this: he was fortunate last year to get in as an alternate. He should bow out and let someone else get that same chance. Pretty much doesn't matter who as Ferrer would wear any of the options down (neither alternate has ever beaten him).
How nice of Andy and Jo to eliminate all suspense regarding SF qualification. Andy only needed to win 1 set to advance - and he accomplished that very quickly.
