Thanks, lt. I'll have to look around and find out if there's an analogous program for my pc.
He totally overdoes the nicknames to the point where it feels forced and douchey. There are so many things I wish he would stop or at least cut back on, because he actually has some good insights on play and strategy (other than his overly enthusiastic calls for fist-pumps players are not looking upbeat enough for him during matches). He really knows the game (obviously), I just wish he didn't annoy me some much.

Ooooh, falafaclese! Just because I'm that person who needs to know answers, I googled about transferring from a Comcast DVR to a PC and it looks like you can! I didn't read through the step-by-step instructions but it looks like the only real purchase is a firewire. Hope it works. I agree about Brad too--just like with other sports I want specific insight to why the players are doing what they're doing and what they're seeing from their opponent that fuels their decisions. But it's couched in such bizarre frat-boy chatter that I can't hear the good stuff. eta: and now I can't stop: falafaclese, looks like that first link might not be the best way to do it, I also read this which might work better. Either way, looks like it can be done without too much craziness or expense. eta2: (oh, make me stop) that last one looks like you have to actually play the show on the DVR in order to record it--my TiVo-to-Toast transfers it over without me needing to play the show so you might have to do a little research to find out the best way to do this (aren't you just so glad you made a little mention to this?).

Why should you stop, lt, you'-e helping someone(t-ying anyway, I have no idea.) That's nice, and umm helpful!
Sigh, and damn isn't it annoying about BG? He obviously can and does know shit about motivations and st-ategies and assessments, but instead he just babbles bullshit half the time. I mean, things sound made up and stupid cause so many of them a-e.

The second method you mentioned isn't the most efficient thing because it's basically using your PC as a recorder (so you go in real time, like the old-school audio tape/VCR dubbing, not like fast transfer), but it's the only way I've found to get clips off my Bell receiver (mostly Glee songs and SYTYCD clips - don't judge!).
The device I use is the Hauppage HD PVR. It works over USB and seems pretty good so far with the included software.

He does better when not paired with PMac or Chris. (the guy Chris - I'm blanking on his last name.) He's much more tolerable with Cahill or Drysdale.
But, still, the only thing I would miss if he left would be the hilarious way he totally debunks any sign of injury from Murray (at least after Murray's missed a shot.)

aren't you just so glad you made a little mention to this? Actually, yes I am, lt! Thanks for the info, it's exactly what I would have been researching for if you hadn't beaten me to it. It looks like Vania King pulled her customary Slam upset against Pavly.

But, still, the only thing I would miss if he left would be the hilarious way he totally debunks any sign of injury from Murray (at least after Murray's missed a shot.) Cahill can pick up that torch. They've worked together enough. Actually, Murray matches with Gilbert in the booth are worthwhile because you know it still stings Brad how much he got yelled at from the court. What we saw last year from Andy was nothing compared to the Gilbert term. It's been about an hour or so and I'm still puzzled as to how Federer took that drop volley from Ivo and, from that close to the net, lobbed over Ivo's head!

Can't believe I missed that! Do you think it's online anywhere?

I'm not sure if mooncreek saw it live - here, they aired it in replay in the first set that wasn't aired. *grumble* "Wow this game is boring right now, but it was really exciting when we were airing basketball!!" - Commentators ETA: was it in the tiebreak? if so, it's here, i think... www.youtube.com/watch?v=b19-lthHqT0ETAA: Yep, at the 8:40 mark

Thanks so much liz and mooncreek! I can't believe he made that in the tiebreak at set point down!

Well, the easy answe- is that Fed's a genius, but I haven't actually seen the point yet, so my bias may be showing just a tiny bit. Tiny little bit. I do give all c-edit to othe-s, and I have no doubt that all the toppiest top guys can/do amazing things like it's an act. Ho-hum, guess I'll hit a totally ridiculous shot and let y'all know who's the boss he-e. Yawn, anothe- point? Okay.
I've got you- video on play lizm (apologies if you saw it, I messed up the c-edit) and I notice it's completely soundless, at least on my pc. Not complaining at all, just took me awhile to fiddle with all my volume buttons and finally get it. But my god I am fucking c-anky with this all night shit. Objectively it is totally awesome that tennis is global, and even mo-e awesome fo- the Aussies and all in the timezone, but fo- me (me, me, me, meeeeeeeeee) it sucks. But all night Slam tennis is still bette- than any othe- tennis, except Slams I can mostly watch. Way bette- than no tennis.
ETA: Watched it. Actually, watched it twice because I was like "what, what just happened, that was so quick and fleeting" ... but yeah, my answe- stands. Fed is a genius, what, did you even question that? Not that he eve- has much difficulty with Ka-lovich, lots of -espect and a bit of fea- even, but I see the -esults buddy, you keep beating him.

Hi acre, yes it's soundless on my pc too so I guess the guy uploaded it quickly without the sound or something. Anyway glad we got to see it!
Yes, I agree, I have never seen anyone do what he does. But again that he did it at set point down in the tiebreak - makes it even more dramatic and amazing.
I know exactly what you mean about all this night tennis, and to make it worse I work till 10pm eastern so there's only a small window of time that I can see these matches and then I tend not to remember what's on. Heh. Maybe they will run them tomorrow on tape delay.
Now I know what you mean fala, about the different networks because I had thought TTC was carrying everything this year. Only they're not. Hmm. Will have to study up for the AM.

acre, I totally agree this time zone difference has my sleep patterns fucked up beyond all repair. It doesn't help that around 12pm, I start feeling for coffee... made that mistake last night and then could not get to sleep until 4am.
Luckily (?) I'm having an extended time off recovering from minor surgery (nothing exciting or painful) so I don't have to try to go to work after that.
Oops, I totally didn't notice the sound because I was watching TSN on my TV simultaneously so my computer was muted.
ETA: I want to see the 3am match but... I think I need sleep, so it's going to PVR. I prefer live because I don't like knowing the results, so I can't catch up on the forums till I'm caught up on the tennis!

Ugh, I've been up working and being disappointed by Christina McHale. Oh well, I guess she can't always be brilliant; she's still young. But Caro/Jankovic? Talk about a must-miss match. I'm going to bed now and will have to be up again in about 4 hours.[/grumble]

ESPN has that Fed shot as their highlight of the match if you want to see it.
Feli is with Wilson clothing--I had no idea. Poor Jomo, they never really broke through. Love that the chair ump calls Feli by his nickname, "do you want to challenge, Feli?" just sounds so cute.
eta: heee, the Bryan brothers' jerseys look like wrestling unis from the back. And now, sleep.
