Seconded.
That is fascinating to me--in the US (not just the Open, but any larger tournament with multiple courts) that would not draw any crowd at all. And if I didn't hate both Tipsy and Tursonov with the heat of a thousand suns that would totally be my "get away from the crowd" match. And Kohlscreiber/Monaco? That would attract maybe ten people in the states (well, maybe Miami would have a slightly better showing for Monaco). Also interesting that the weekend is the same everywhere--too crowded, too chaotic. Weekdays really are the best because it's got the fans who take off of work/school to go. Is the AO also like the US Open where they sell more tickets than they have room for on the grounds? Judging by the fact that the AO sells tickets for both Laver and Hisense (and grounds passes as well?) I'm guessing the grounds can be a madhouse.
Thanks for the new pictures, printwhore, isn't Bahrami smashing with all that grey hair/mustache? He's a better-with-age guy for me. Oh, and if you do end up on Mallorca with Feli and Rafa, remember us and keep us all up to date. . . (but maybe pick a neutral island since you don't want to deal with Rafa's entire family all the time).
That makes me sad. I dozed off when Monfils came back from his injury timeout and had no idea he could even get to five sets.
Looks like the Rafa/Feli match should be right around when ESPN2 goes on the air tonight at 9pm ET so I'm happy. Tomorrow is going to be a late night (go Giants!) and I've got to save up my no-sleep nights for later in the tournament. They're showing the Hewitt/Raonic now. I didn't wake up early, did they show this match overnight or was Murray/Llodra on? breezy, I'm sorry about Raonic's loss. Is Hewitt feeling good and playing like it or is the Aussie crowd really giving him a boost?

Yes, and by all means, take more pictures! ;D
I'm bummed out by the outcome of that Monfils match too. For him to come back from what must have been a shitty start and take it to five sets and then get distracted by a dumb fan has to suck. As kooky and frustrating as he can be, I still enjoy him. I guess I've come to terms with the fact that the sometimes crazy shot selection will always be there, so I choose to enjoy the ride and shrug off the occasional frustrating results (I say occasional, because I feel like he has gotten decidedly more mature in the past year or so.) I watched something about him on the tv a couple weeks or so, and he made a comment where he basically said "I know sometimes I get a little nutty out there, but sometimes I can't help it, it's like happiness to me" and he actually used the word "happiness", which kind of disarmed me even more. I have a hard time begrudging him that
I can hardly call his injuries 'bad luck" given that he regularly throws himself around the court like a rag doll, but at this point they certainly are holding him back almost as much as the flightiness. the fact that he's a top fifteen player in spite of having missed 4 out of 8 mandatory masters level events because of injury last year is fairly impressive.

Thanks lt. I was up early enough this morning to watch the last two sets. You could really see how nervous Raonic was during the last set. I'm not a Hewitt fans by any means but I do respect his dedication to the sport and it's sort of good to see him have a good Open.
Fala - I so agree with you about Monfils. I love watching him. I never miss one of his matches when I go to the Roger's Cup - which by the way I'm planning on attending again this year.

If I was running off with Rafa and Feli any pictures I would have would just be plain filthy and wrong.
But I'd still post them.
Kidding aside, Nadal is being given 7 to 1 odds which I think is amazing. Federer is given 4.50 (WTF?! With Nadal in his half of the draw?!)
I'm going to head over to the sports betting agent and I'm going to put down ten bucks on Rafa. Those odds are insane, Rafa is still the second best player in the world and he's playing lights out tennis.

printswhore, I'm so jealous! I love Sports Book but unless you happen to be in Las Vegas when a Grand Slam is going on there isn't any (trustworthy) tennis betting. (Online betting interests me not at all.) New Jersey just passed a law allowing Sports Book but that'll get held up for ages since the mob doesn't want it to happen and even when it does pass it's not like tennis will be an option.
I just went over to the australianopen.com website to check the livescores and has anyone seen the player photo of Benesova? Is she looking to become a model if tennis doesn't work out for her? She looks really pretty in the picture, but it is a little silly as an official player photo.

Huh. TTC did a poll about who you think will win the Slam, and it came out 55% Fed. I don't know who answers these dumb polls, but that is a whole lot of wishful thinking. I wish it too, but I wouldn't bet on it. Djok, duh. And Nadal got 12%? These people a-e d-eaming. It's possible, but again I wouldn't put money on it. Uhh, not that I eve- do, I'm just not a gamble-, but still. Live in reality folks.
P.S. Yes I would love Fed to win it (kinda goes without saying), but hello I live in the real wo-ld. He could, but I don't expect him to. And anyway, he doesn't owe me a damn thing. I am fully satisfied if this is the end. Not what I'd prefe-, but c'mon, it's enough.

Feli's racquets are missing? How random is that?
eta: damn, damn damn. ESPN2's coverage has started and Gilbert is in the booth. He's already said that Rafa is lucky with the draw because "Isner would have given him more trouble than Lopez" and called Feli "Flo." Such an ass. eta2: hee, as soon as I write that Gilbert compliments a big serve and his improved court coverage. ARGH! But now he's already had a "Lopez loves his mirror time" comment. I'm sorry but it is just so damn unprofessional.

They're showing the Hewitt/Raonic now. I didn't wake up early, did they show this match overnight or was Murray/Llodra on? Serena's match started the same time as Murray/Llodra so they showed about two points of it. It's a shame because that sounded like an entertaining match. They had the entirety of Raonic/Hewitt live, which was scheduled after Serena's match on RL.

Damn, I'm old. I looked in on some of that cove-age of -aoinic-Hewitt, and what is that boy? 14? Maybe 15? Looking at him he could not possibly be an adult, could he?? Yeah, I know he is,but omg he's like a little boy. Well, a little boy that can play amazing tennis. Yup, I'm just too old now, they--e all child-en to me. Except fo- the actual g-ownups, which is actually most of them. Top4? Easy. Many othe- top guys and GS winne-s? Easy. I mean Hewitt, Andy -, noone doubts they a-e adults. But these little(huge) child-en!
I guess I'm just used to the women being young. But neve- most of them, but always a lot of them. Now is not the day of the young, young, women. They eisst, but they a-e usually not at the top. Unusual, actually, it's usual fo= the teens to rule. Guess I'm spoiled now. Kim, Se-ena, Stosu-, Kuzzy, Na(?), even also--ans like Ivanovic, all adults now, no child=en.

Virtual green chile risotto, heart of romaine salad with sesame dressing, and sparkling wine for all of you...
I'm hoping to see Feds tonight, but I'm on such an early schedule these days, I don't know. I've missed most of the matches tonight; any insight into Berdych/Almagro? I would've thought Berdych would make quick work of Almagro (who was much cuter when he wasn't so skinny).
I miss Youzhny. Where is he?

So is anyone else going to be up for the Federer match? If so, I might have a cup of coffee, as at least half the pleasure I derive from watching tennis comes from this forum!

I'm going to try to catch the beginning of it at least, but I'll be damned if I'm going to stay up for Woz and Jankovic.

God help me, tiki, but I am hoping to get up @2. But I'll need a livestream at that time, and the frustration might just send me back to bed! Cross fingers!

Yay, fala and oops! I'll get that coffee going. But...
Even if you did, it's a sleeping pill of a match.

Ha Ha tiki!
I think I will do the opposite for the Fed match - try to wake up really early and hope the local news stations think the result is worth mentioning in the sports report. I mean, I don't expect Roger to lose, but in early rounds I sometimes record it and watch later. I don't mind at all. But 3am start is just too much for me, because it really means staying up and watching till at least 5. Will have to rely on the DVR again, off to erase some other stuff. Have fun folks
