Li Na's win made me happy, but I'm thinking the Radwanska/Cibulkova match will be much more fun to watch. Ranwanska makes me miss Santoro. Ah, Fabrice, we are still sailing the crystalline lagoons of Polynesia in my perfervid dreams...

She really is breathtaking the way she's playing now. It's so exciting on a visceral level. Plus I think she's so cool. Go Na!!!!

Oh, Radwanska.

This is so disappointing. After playing so astonishingly well yesterday, to have Radwanska just disappear like this. It's results like this that make me wonder what women athletes do to handle their periods. I mean, I can't imagine having to play sports at the highest levels on the worst days of my periods. I felt more like being taken to the hospital. (Hope that's not TMI for you non-gals out there.)

Can anyone tell me - was the Roger / Murray match on ESPN2 last night? Or was it ESPN or did they lose the transmission up at ESPN due to all the snow? When I put on my recording it was 5 hours of Sports Center and Mike and Mike ... but clearly it said ESPN 2 on the screen...Is the whole tournament staying on this channel in the US? Thanks gang.

Did you watch him play doubles in the Legends with Yannick Noah? I watched their match against - I think it was Wilander and Cash - the other day at the Open, and it was so entertaining. Santoro was in full magician mode.

roseha, I saw it on ESPN after Sports Center around 3:30-4am Wednesday morning. I think it switched from ESPN2 after the Nadal match. And it looks like all the semi's and the final's will be on ESPN and re-air on ESPN2 at a more reasonable hour. 3:30 AM est for the next semi's match, and 3:00 am for the women's final, and men's final.

I woke up this morning to the results and have seen nothing, but what the hell Aggie? I like Cibulkova. Being a short girl with muscular thighs myself, I identify with her. Did she up her game or did Radwanska just suck?
I'm happy for Li Na and will be happy with either winning.
In other news, Go Stan. I cannot get up at 3am to watch tennis. I'm old and creaky or something. Thank goodness for smartphones so I can roll over and check the score the moment I wake.

The Australian Open does the retired-players doubles the best, everyone seems to show up. Happy Slam indeed. The US Open doesn't even bother anymore and I miss it.
Yup, the early-morning stuff is on ESPN--and from here on all the live matches they're airing will be on ESPN.
Yeah Na. I only watched the beginning because Bouchard looked so nervous out there that it hurt to watch. Was she able to calm her nerves as the match went on? Poor Aga, I really want her to win a major but good for Cibulkova. Llodra/Mahut are out of the doubles so I guess I won't have to go searching to watch the final (although, thanks to the WatchESPN app I've been able to watch any show court so it actually wouldn't have been hard to find a stream).
Yeah Stan! He needs better sunscreen for the tip of his nose, I wonder if anyone calls him Rudolph in the locker room.

Had been hoping for Aga in the final (credit Domi for holding it together at the end) but really now figuring the stars have aligned for Li Na. Her draw is comparable to Bartoli's at Wimbledon, plus being inches from losing to Safarova. Just seems right.
Will be rooting for Roger - which tends to not go well. Stan's odds aren't great against either one but Rafa facing Grigor and Roger prior to him sounds like a disaster. I don't want to see Stan get embarrassed and we know Rafa can do that.
Let's talk craziness about the rankings: if Roger loses to Rafa, Roger will be #8 in the world and Stan would be in the Top 5 (and top Swiss player). A Roger-Stan final would determine who is #3! A Rafa title would have Delpo at #3 and Ferrer at #4.

I don't twitter. (Hell, I don't even Facebook. I BARELY linkedin.) Is that kind of reaction common from fans if say, Rafa congratulates Murray for beating Stan, do the Swiss fans go twitter nuts? If Ferrer congratulates Rafa for being Murray, do the Brit fans go nuts?
Anyway. The Stupid. It Burns.

I don't know, but I'm guessing the fan bases of everyone pile on their "foe". So, is it better to know people are insane or were we better when we had no clue until they did something? It makes me laugh that these people think they are hiding behind anonymity--if someone wants to find out who they are, they can. This weekend I had friends over and someone who hooked on to my wifi looked something extremely random up on their phone--not my computer, not my phone, it was theirs--and the next day when I went online there was a google ad for that very random thing on my computer. We're all visible.

Unfortunately I didn't see any of Santoro's Legends match, breezy. Woe is me.
Unfortunately Radwanska just sucked, apocalipstick. (Also, I'm with you re: Twitter and Facebook and LinkedIn. Ditto.)
Bouchard got over her nerves, lt, but she was simply outclassed. I'm not quite on the Genie train yet, but she has the makings of a really good player. And I like Stan, but you're right about the nose. It's distracting. As for Twitter, pfffffft. Sound and fury signifying nothing.
Am I getting up at 1:30 a.m. Mountain time for a match I will surely regret watching? Will anyone here be with me? Will wine be involved? Life's imponderables.

Alas, I think it's a distinct possibility, tiki. Which is why I plan to sleep through it and only watch the recording if the outcome beats the odds.
That said, it's so great to see Roger playing beautifully again. If he can maintain that level this year there won't be any more of those incredibly distressing losses to the Stakhovskys and Robredos of the world, which will be a great relief. Whether he can compete with the top three guys again remains to be seen. I am so hoping that when I wake up tomorrow morning I'll feel as thrilled seeing the final score as I did when I saw the scores of the Stan-Djokovic and Roger-Murray matches. Fingers crossed.
Enjoy your wine, tiki. :-)
