Great minds think alike b/c the minute I saw Dancevic I thought of fashion mags "Who Wore It Better" and Serena wins this round hands down. While I'm on hair, downthelinetennis.com has a pic of JMDP with his new do and he looks lots better. But I'm partial to short hair on men... Oh, Sue Mott, how I love to loathe you. Last year I'm pretty sure she and Gilbert appeared together. I'm not sure what was said about him in the Murray book but I doubt we'll get all of their unctuousnes in one screen. I know this is no news flash but listening to Bud continues to be painful. He was babbling about Estonia being a part of the Balkans, he did correct himself but the pp who said that the rest of the crew is treating him like Grandpa Simpson had it spot on

Fabrice is up third on Centre Court tomorrow. Here's hoping he has a little magic left.

I've been dang impressed by Aga Radwanska lately (she's Hingis redux for me) and I think she is going to reach the quarterfinals. Her only major obstacles in her part of the draw are Na Li, who is coming off injury, and Kuzzie, who played rather brainlessly today and was sent packing by Aga in Melbourne. Also hoping that Szavay has a nice run.

tikigirl-I don't think you were bashing her at all. I think it's a smart business decision for her to do it (as Pam Shriver noted), but as you said, trying to sell it as classy is a little silly.
I am fast forwarding through all of the ESPN 2's comments on Federer. I want Nadal to win, but I can't stand listening to them rehashing the idea that Federer is on his way out. Urgh. Oh, and yay for Baghdatis hiring Peter Lundgren as a coach. Maybe that will get him to climb back up the rankings.

After seeing Dubois I was hoping she'd win the whole thing. It would be nice to see a Canadian win who isn't Nester. Hopefully she'll learn from this and come back stronger next year.
As I was watching the Djoker/Berrer match, I was hoping Berrer would win. Then when Djokovic looked sad when he was losing, I wanted him to win again. He looks so dejected when things are not going his way that I forget how annoying he is.
I'm excited to see Roddick play tomorrow, I'm hoping he ends up going far in this tourny.
I agree, though I'm hoping Feds wins again. I'm really hoping they are wrong and the final isn't a Nadal/Djokovic match-up.

For each of the past four years, I've picked Karlovic to make at least the 4th round; and today, same as ever, he ends up killing my bracket in the first round. Which means that, next year, when I finally have him losing his opening match, he will inevitably make that stupidly one-dimensional, all-serving run to the semis that everyone has been expecting of him since he pulled off that first-round upset of defending champ Hewitt in 2003. At this point, I think Oli Rochus is more likely to make a deep run at Wimbledon than Dr. Ivo. I only managed to catch 30 minutes of ESPN's coverage today, which was enough to be annoyed by the fact that they spent fully 10 of those minutes recapping Serena's press conference comments about her collection of designer coats. Statistically, that's a small sample, but it's consistent with ESPN's "one-third useless" coverage rule. At least I managed to miss both Bud Collins and Brad Gilbert today. I like Radwanska's game, too. I don't think her instincts for court positioning and hitting odd angles are quite as sharp as Hingis' were in her prime, but she plays with the kind of guile that can really give some of the power-based women trouble. I haven't seen her sister, Urszula, play yet, but she plays Serena in her next match, which will definitely be televised.

Did anyone else see the Serena interview with Macatee and The Douche.
I was just kind of curious about what was behind this exchange as they were watching some footage from Serena's two Wimby wins (please forgive any paraphrasing):
Serena: That seems like it was ages ago The Douche: You're still beautiful, just different Serena: Thanks Justin, that was . . . very positive Then Serena breaks down into a (uncomfortable? nervous?) fit of laughter.

I caught that as well. Maybe he mentioned the blond hair? Or her boobs, knowing the Douche.
He seemed so deferential to her. Isn't there some story about a column he did about her and she then ripped into him on court at Team Tennis?
Safin. Safin. SAFIN. He almost threw that third set away. Someone needs to slip him a note that says "Novak called Dinara a bad word" so that he goes into angry protective brother mode and creams Djokovic.
ETA: More Wimby Primetime weirdness. As they were going through the draw.
McAtee: What about Feliciano Lopez? Douche: Well, he's the best looking guy in the tournament, just ask him. Martina: I agree, he is.
Douche ignored her. Martina cracks me up.

I heard that exchange too. I like Martina, although I've gotten the sense that she's not popular around here. Every time I see the two of them on screen I wonder what she thinks of him. They seem to get along, but she also seems like the type of person who would find that shit beneath contempt, and wouldn't hesitate to say so. On the other hand for all we know, he's doing this all for effect, he's not nearly as douchey in person, and they could be friends.
As was alluded to by someone here earlier, its a shame he seems to alternate between abject misogyny and transparent unctuousness, because despite the itchy, irritating packaging, he does have some interesting insights.

He says that every time he talks about Feli (the exact same stupid phrase). Jealous much? A psychologist would have a field day with Justin--his complexes are just so obvious.

I like Martina (although her thin voice sometimes irritates me -- I'm picky) a lot more than most of the announcers. My UO is that I can't stand Mary Carrillo. She reminds me of Bob Costas when he's covering baseball, always searching for the fancy word when a simple one would do. And let's not even get into her patented "big babe tennis" bullshit. YMMV, obviously; I'm not as kind as some around here. (Speaking of, where's chesty?)

I wish I could flip a magic button on my remote and get the BBC commentators on all the US channels. I couldn't even get the feed today.
I don't know where all this anti Roger hostility is coming from but it just goes beyond them trying to look "smart". He is an all time great player and champion and this lack of respect is contemptible.
Sorry I'm not up for 2 weeks of ESPN commentary if this is what we are going to get. I think I will have to take another stab at the BBC feed, much as I would prefer watching on TV.

Hi tiki! Work has been crazy lately and it is still going bad- don't they understand it is Wimbles. Urgh....
Had to satisfy myself with Radio Wimbledon and a quick Tivo scan of the ESPN coverage. And sad to say but my Reds-Rafa friendship shipper heart is going full throttle. Between Roger's adorable interview at ESPN (cute in so many ways....loved his joking that they could be nekkid under the desk) and where he talked about Rafa- to Nadal suddenly discovering the English expression of "come on!" to use sarcasm in English press when they dismiss Roger- they have been very supportive of each other. I don't think that means they don't want to beat the other in match- but they just respect each other as players and more and more talk about what a good guy the other is. It is very, very cute. I would squee a little more with some other incidents but don't want to give you all a sugar headache.
Nalby continues to disappoint. I mean- I know tennis folks talk about Gasquet giving away his gift but Nalby frustrates me even more. He is like Rios...but fan accounts say he is a nicer guy. He may have an injury but still....sigh.
And Patty lost- but I like Casey.
Agree with others who feel that Serena beat Frank in the battle of the matching 'dos.
Speaking of 'dos. Maybe this shorn head will rid JMDP of his injuries and sometimes "I don't care" attitude. Of course- he is an Argie....but I hope he will rid the curse. My family friend who works at Miami said he was really nice albeit shy last year when she worked at the tournie- so that fuels my like of his game and this weird thing I have for liking Argies (Coria, Gaudio, Nalby)
Forgot to say- stuff it Sue Mott.. Her bashing of Henman still goes. And then she insults Chris. By many accounts Tim is a fun and very witty guy off court - she needs to shut it.

Hmm, I wake up early and ESPN is showing Vania King in a painfully boring match. Pam Shriver corrects Brad Gilbert and Gilbert claims that he isn't wearing his glasses.
So, to enliven the broadcast, they invite Sue Mott and Gilbert together. Gilbert immediately tells Mott to "Let it go! He's retired! Let it go! LET IT GO!" I can't remember the last time I agreed with Gilbert, but there you go.
