I definitely want one more too (I'm greedy and never cared for Pete) but I don't think I'll stress over 15 the way I did over 13 and 14. Now that he has the career Slam and is tied at worst with Pete all time, I don't feel like he needs 15. Before I felt like without the career Slam he needed 15. Now, I'm going to try to enjoy whatever come along. I like Nadal, Murray, Tsonga, Del Potro, even Roddick so I don't have to freak as much. As long as Djoker doesn't start winning everything, it's all good.

Good point, lt, and Feds also beat the man who beat Nadal here. Count me among those who can't wait to see the site in black.
Anyone think the crowd is cheering Soderling for losing? Nah, I think he was pretty classy throughout and didn't do badly for his first major final. (See, I can give him props now that Roger won.)
And, Roger really does cry more than my two-year-old niece.

I'm surprised at how really happy I am! I know that Roger was a Marat-like junior so it's hard to completely get rid of that kind of volatility. I'm a pretty composed person but when I do cry, I'm a sobber! Soderling has a sweet voice And equally nice sentiments...

Soderling was very classy! And, Roger really does cry more than my two-year-old niece. So sad and so true. I think I love him even more for that.

Aww, Robin has some sweet-looking parents. Wow, this speech from Robin is first-class. And I love the "yokeing."

Nicest possible speech from Soderling.

"My lovely wife, who's pregnant."
Do you think Roger realizes that it is pouring?

I couldn't stand Sampras so I'm rooting big time for Roger to win 15.
Huge kudos to Soderling for being so gracious and classy in defeat.

It's probably my feel good mood, but maybe Soderling's "difficult" personality was partly due to the pressure of trying to live up to Swedish tennis expectations. He just seemed so darn nice...
I'm going to avoid most tennis boards b/c I really don't want to read about Fed's "luck" Soderling's play had dipped considerably but Roger's career isn't based on people folding.

I love when Roger is so happy because he gets so talkative!
I agree Francie. As Robin said, he couldn't get his own game going because Roger was playing so well. That's part of being great--making the other guy look like he doesn't belong on the same court sometimes.

Mats Wilander was saying that Robin is tense before matches and never really says hello, etc. to fellow players and that it wasn't personal vis-a-vis Rafa. And it seems that Rafa felt it was personal even before their match at the 2007 W. I have always thought that Robin seemed nice in his interviews- although he has been known for being gruff in competition for years- independent of Rafa, etc. I did not like the stuff that happened at Wimbledon in 2007 but perhaps it is time for Rafa to let it go. Because Robin does not seem to mind of fellow players do not like him and it irks Rafa more than Robin. It seems that Robin does not need to have "work" friends but is pleasant irl.
Congrats to Roger and all of his fans.
Both guys gave good interviews.
Now- onto grass season. What a quick turnaround time in tennis.

Don't know if I could have sat through last year's Wimbledon final if Roger had lost the French. As it is, I'll look a the pretty grass and the happy Rafa.
eta: oooh, for those who want to watch, ESPNews is going to go to the Federer press conference in the next hour. I'll post here when it starts. It will be at 1pm ET. Outside the Lines is on now.

I, for one, enjoyed watching Soderling play and I found him very likable and will have no difficulty rooting for him in future matches.

I'm here! (Not there!! Sorry everyone --)
I don't feel that it's even REAL yet. WOW! WOW!!!!
As for using my miles to go -- I think we're deciding to use them for the whole family (in advance it's cheaper!) to go for Wimbledon! We'll let you know..
Sorry if I disappointed you all. But it was so enjoyable just to watch it in the calm of my living room with the kiddies - one a Chicago day that much resembles the one in Paris...
Way to go, ROGER!

Aw darn. Still, Wimbledon would be the best. I've only been there in November. You know, if you don't go then, come to the year-end championships--we could meet up and cheer Roger on.
