In the battle of the jerks, the cute one (Clement) won.
I'd say, based on the score, Santoro lasted about five minutes so you better be quick on that one.

Dang. Feli out to Tipsy.
For those who have the DirecTV channels and want to see more Fabrice (and in more of his element), he's playing doubles with Llodra on Court 2 after the Massu/Wawrinka match. Fabrice, playing in Paris, with long-time doubles partner, for the last time? That's going to be a fun match.

Aw. I have my DVR set to record as much as it can.
Poor sweet Fabrice. He and I are going to celebrate his final loss tonight. He's dressing in black tuxedo trousers, crisp white shirt and burgundy smoking jacket. I'm wearing a canary yellow sheath dress and black feather boa. We are painting the town red.
Yeah, tiki needed some more amusement!
Poor Feli. He's so pretty, but you can tell he hates clay. The Petrova/Shrieky match looks interesting. Anyone watching and ready to comment?

I'm watching Petrova/Sharapova right now, and it's entertaining. I'm not sure what happened in the first set, but Nadia looks sharp in the second set. I expect the third set to be a bloodbath, because Maria's not going to go down quietly, and Petrova's been playing well and, I'm sure, sees her opportunity to get a win over Maria. Maria's playing ok, but, of course, she's not at her best.

It does seem to be a fight to the death. I'm listening to Radio RG. Matt Cronin just pisses me off. But yay, ELI! I can hear Shrieky grunting like mad. It's more annoying on radio I want to like Petrova, but I just can't...

Maria started pouncing on Petrova's serve to get that break back, and then turned up the notch on her serve in the next game. I like Petrova, so I'm waiting to see if she can stick with Maria and/or if Maria can maintain the level. Petrova seemed to be playing the longer points better up until this last game that Maria won to go up 2-1 in the third.

Petrova holds...
I'm in agreement that Maria is "good for the game" but MartinaN's love is getting to be a bit much...

Petrova played better to get that break, and the intensity of Maria's serve went down a bit.
I have the sound down now, but I was surprised with how much Martina was waxing on about Maria the other day too.

I hate Shriekapova, but I have to admit that I like her dress. Too many of the women now wear outfits that makes you look as big as Serena even if you're only 5 lbs over your desired weight. At least Shrieky's dress would make you look OK if you'd had seconds the night before.
The other day, Martina said something like, "well, Shrieky gets this bad press, but all she does is go out there and play hard. It's not like she plays mind games or anything like that" and I thought, WTF? Shrieky turns her back to delay her opponent's serve, does her walkabouts, and employs a variety of delay tactics during the match. I've always thought she was one of the most eggregious examples of the mental games players employ.

Yeah, I've never seen Maria as some paragon of on-court civility.
I have Petrova making it all the way to the quarters--where she was supposed to meet Amelie--so you can guess which way I'm hoping this match plays out.
However, I'm sticking with Marat on live scores. I could go searching for some livestream but that has been exhausting me lately.

Pova is playing the important points well. Honestly Petrova deserves to lose this match. She has squandered her break lead and numerous break points. If she can't beat Pova on clay after she's been out for 10 months, there's no hope for her. If Pova pulls this out (and I expect her to) she'll probably make the quarters. She couldn't have asked for a better draw to work her way back into grand slam form.

Petrova tried to hit winners off the serve on the big points in that last game rather than play the point out which is what got her to the break point in the first place. She's donw that a couple times at key moments on Maria's serve. It's annoying.
ETA: And Petrova just fucking lost. Another disgusting development. You're right, she did deserve to lose based on the way that she played the big points.

I feel strangely happy for Pova, even though I'm not a fan. It's nice to have someone back who knows how to win. The rest of the tour minus the Williamses and maybe Safina (the jury is still out on her) are mental midgets. Prime example Petrova! She was ridiculous.

I have nothing more to add but like Henin I have respect for Pova if no love!

I agree with you completely, except for the happy part. I had convinced myself that I had gotten over my dislike for Maria, but apparently I was wrong. I would, however add some other to the mentally tough list, unfortunately, the ones that you've named are the only ones who are tough and who have been able to win big.
