I didn't think Gasquet had any chance in the race. I hope he can continue to kick butt during the rest of the season. I like Ferrer but I hope Gasquet beats him in the final.

I really don't want to see Tommy Robredo in Shanghai. Like the guy, think he's hot and a sweetie but I'd rather see someone who can spice up the draw--you know, someone who has a realistic chance of hoisting that trophy. Gasquet would be fantastic, short of Marcos B-Diddy I've never seen anyone flash his dimples during a match as much as much as Reeshard. He even gets wide smiles from Berdych when they play. :sigh:
What was I talking about again? Oh yeah, Shanghai. I want to see hardcourt players in that tourney which is why I'm praying for Gasquet, Blake, Berdych and Gonzalez.

Wow....been a while since I posted here.
I really want Ferrer in Shanghai, and it looks like he'll be there after this great run in Tokyo. A tournament he wasn't even scheduled to be in. I love him, and I think it's high time people started paying more attention to him.
I like Gasquet, so I'd like to see him there as well. But I still want Ferrer to beat him. And I love me some Tommy Robredo, and it ticks me off when people call him 'Boredo', so just to see their heads explode, I'd love to see him beat Murray. And heck, I'd like to see him in Shanghai as well.
Not a big fan of Berdych, so I don't much care if he makes it in or not. Same with Gonzalez and Blake.

whyistherumgone, Robredo is playing in Metz and Gasquet is playing Tokyo so try as he might, I don't think Tommy Robredo can beat Richard this week.

I noticed that right after I posted it, but didn't have time to change it. I meant to say I want him to beat Murray. It's Ferrer I want to beat Gasquet. I have too many dogs in too many fights. Not that David or Tommy are dogs, mind you. They are barking hot, though.

I'm rooting for Blake and Gasquet to get in. The way things are shaping up, unless something really weird happens, it looks like Roddick and Davydenko will be in for sure, which leaves 3 spots. I think that Ferrer is in a good postion too. It seems like it will be the last two spots that are up for grabs. As usual, Blake is cutting it close, and who knows what will happen at this point. Hopefully Blake and Gasquet will perform well at the two remaining Masters events.

Wow- Ferrer thrashed Gasquet in the Tokyo final, 6-1 6-2. Gasquet was off of his game- but Ferrer was on and very impressive. I think he may be one of those players like Blake who gets better at age of 25 and over. He has more aggression now and really does have good touch when he moves up on court.
I will be happy if Ferrer gets to Shanghai- I like it when players max out on their abilities. And he actually has done pretty well on hards- (I think has reached the semis of Miami twice) and is a fighter so it is not like he will be a chump opponent. If he makes it- which it is looking more and more like he will- he totally deserves it.
Even though Richard was off today- a very good two weeks for him and if he does well in Madrid- he has a real chance to make it.
Interesting stats-
There only only five players so far in the ATP with three our more tournament titles this year. They are:
Feds and Rafa at 6, Nole at 4, Ferrer and Juan Monaco (!!!) with 3. Two of Ferrer's titles this year are on hard.

Ferru beat Reeshard over the head with a baguette...repeatedly. I love Reeshard, so it was hard to watch him lose like that. But I loved watching Ferrer just completely dominate the match from beginning to end. People are finally starting to give him the respect he has deserved for a while now. I love it. I can't see him not making it to Shanghai now. He scheduled to play Stockholm this week, and has a great draw. And I think he'll do fine in Madrid. So barring an upset, he should make it to Shanghai with little problem.
I did have to laugh at the commentator repeatedly comparing Ferrer to a ferret, lol. Having been around pet ferrets quite a bit, I have to say it is kind of accurate.

I'm glad Murray is finally starting to come back from the injury-ravaged summer, even though it doesn't look good right now for him to beat Robredo. Robredo is in position to win despite getting bagelled in the first set.

Gasquet looked like he never even made it out on the court. Ferrer was everywhere. His energy was amazing. I'd heard he was a smoker (something about he had to pull out of a tournament and was seen watching from a box drinking and smoking). I'm amazed that he never seems to be out of breath. Yay Ferrer. We need to get him some love here in the US. I'm sick of Sharapova, Roddick and Federer commercials. And those commercials aren't nearly as funny as something like this: youtube.com/watch?v=_nX1Iw5SzUc with Nadal Or this youtube.com/watch?v=HempGPKmFzs with Tipsarevic. Give me Ferrer as a cabana boy! Or masseur. That would so work. Hey, I like the shallow end!

That was a great match between Henin and Golovin. Golovin is another person who is really fun to watch. Now if she could just stay away from the injuries . . .

Congrats to Henin -- she's had one hell of a season, better than Roger even (I think she's 54-4 with 8 titles; he's 54-6 with 6 titles). I know she's a divisive figure, but what a tennis player.
Welcome to the shallow end, apocalipstick, I'm the lifeguard and we are served drinks on a regular basis. By shirtless tennis players...barking hot.

Are they repeating the Golovin/Henin match? I know they showed it in the afternoon, but I missed it...
