With or without the network!
I'll just keep it TWOP style i think, one thread for everything, i don't think there's enough of us to warrent threads for each player, etc etc.
Hopefully, most people will wander on over, i loved the TWOP thread, as we were able to have fun yet civil tenns talk without the horrors of the ATP/WTA hellhole boards.

I'm a real dummy. How do I read the other posts? All I see is Admin Liz.

I don't think I can survive without talking about tennis fashion! Those Nike outfits really are hideous. Also, I wish the guys would talk with each other before the match so they know if they are wearing the same thing. I liked both Vaidisova and Peer's outfits last night. They were fairly simple but they looked good.

What a great idea this is! I fully support the revolution, and hope many TwoPpers join in the defection! (I wonder if this is how Martina felt in 1977?)
Btw, this is I'm Wrong from the other board, but proboards has a lack of alphanumeric characters (d**n them!), so wrongami for now. (sorry about the O/T - I hope this paragraph isn't deleted, heh heh)
I was so po'ed when I logged in early this morning and saw what had become of our dear old tennis thread. Thanks so much for starting this new one, (formerly) Dorkgirl! Thanks for the invite, too!
Let's see... what actual tennis stuff was I fearing for my life about posting from yesterday? Ummmm. I think Radwanska definitely puts the "Rad" back in "Radwanska" (SOMEONE had to) and am thoroughly on board with her win, gamesmanship or no.
I definitely thought Koubek could have been made at the Top Secret Austrian Tennis and Cloning Labs from DNA of Thomas Muster. Same look, same nationality, same dogged determination, same handedness, same game (relentless topspin groundies). It was actually kind of eerie. Glad James pulled out the win, however - crazymaking though his tennis (and the J-Block) may be.
Finally, I felt like I was in bizarro world after Isner took that first set from Feds. Thanksfully, order (and my balance) was restored to the world as Roger went the next two sets with ZERO unforced errors. Talk about picking up your game a notch!
Oh yeah - and I'm really looking forward to today's NAY-dal match (TM Al Trautwig).
Whew - seems I had a lot to see once freed from the noxious constrictions of our homeland thread. Thanks again for creating this safe haven for free tennis expression! Viva la revolution!
edited to add: you're no dummy, carolyng - I think you were just the first (or rather, second) post! Funny that we all seem to have posted at once. I'm glad to see some familiar names coming over!

Yeah, there's no other posts. I made the board back in January when TWOP got a bit sniffy about non TV posting, but not to the extent they are now. It's a real shame, our little TWOP tennis forum is/was great, real tennis fans but without the sniping of the big tennis forums. Hopefully enough of us there will use this one too and keep us ticking over

Does anyone know what the official stance on the Radwanska style service line rushing is? I know we don't see it too often, and maybe she was sailing close to the wind, but i'm not sure if it was illegal or not.

I made an introductions thread in the non-tennis section for people.
Do you need help inviting people over Liz? I imagine admins can read PMs, but I suppose there is no other way.

Yeah, i think PM's aren't a "safe" way of inviting people, but i thought it's still better than just posting a big 'come over HERE' in the thread, heheh. No other way really.
I've PM'd about 30-40 posters, going back about 3 days from the thread, and i'll send out more if i catch any names i haven't. Feel free to invite anyone from anywhere else, the more chat, the better!

Thanks for starting this site! I'll keep checking back during the day.
I supposed to play tennis in an hour or so, but I'll be back!
Today is going to be a great day at the Open!

I'm pretty sure there's nothing in the rulebook against Radwanska's returning style. The serve has to bounce (you can't volley the serve), but otherwise, she can move in as much as she wants.
Blake and Koubek wearing the same outfits for the entire match was annoying. That blue sleeveless shirt doesn't look good on anyone.

Thanks for starting this! I was all ready to post about how much I enjoyed Jim Courier calling Tracy out on being an idiot yesterday, when the thread was closed! I HATED how she responded by kind of laughing and saying "I'm not going to argue with you". Yeah, she's not going to argue because she knows he's right. The players can't refuse to swing because if they are wrong, then they're screwed. Plus, the time is too quick. Did you all notice that soon after that, we didn't hear Courier again for the whole match?

After the Lopez/Young match of same-outfittedness, it was painful to see it again in Blake/Koubek. I did really enjoy seeing some Feli match. So often in the past he's folded like a cheap lawn chair. It was nice to see him come through.
Blake. Gah! I've tried to determine why I just can't stand the guy. I've decided it's his body. When I look at his face, MINUS the terry cloth headband, I like him. The farther my eyes travel down, the more irritated I get. I reach critical mass on seeing his ridiculously large cut shorts making his legs look like toothpicks. Seriously, if he'd just get a more Rafa-style fitted short, he'd look so much better. It's sad that I can't see past his legs and the J-Block to enjoy his game.
Every single time I hear Al Trautwig speak, I imagine he's a plastic trout mounted to a wooded plaque wearing a wig that talks every time you walk by. Like those singing bass things. Yes, yes, I'm petty. And insane.
Yay to USA for showing Shirtless Janko! Boo to Ted Robinson for failing to read Doestoyevsky in high school like everyone else. I'm frightened of Tracy Austin's velociraptor claws. No manicure can fix that.
Uhm....uhm...I feel so free I don't know what else to say. Oh. I know. Thank you for the thread.

Oh thank you for doing this. TWOP had the only tennis board I've seen where people were sane. Alas, the administrators's minds are gone.
So I'll be here. There's only so much I can say about Tracy Austin being terrible, or Ted Robinson being annoying, or JMac just refusing to talk about himself.
So let's talk tennis! Where were we? My last posts went though the TWOP blackhole known as Strega, so I have no idea what we were talking about.

I think the issue was that she was moving up at the start of the serve, but then moving back during her motion to where she really intended to return. Does that make sense? Yeah, it's not against the rules but it's kind of dickish. I'm still happy she won.
