Thanks for the invite! It's so tough to watch tennis and then only talk about the commentators/network and not all the other glorious things.
Like clothes; I hate Serena's dress. I'm a minority I think but it looks like she's wearing maternity clothes to me. She's playing pretty well though I think Henin will beat her.
Venus on the other hand? Looks really sharp. She could be in for her second major this year, which is not something I would have expected 4 months ago.
I'm excited about the second half of the draw; I love seeing all these young kids get a shot at it with that half being wide open. Radwanksa is probably who I'm rooting for, even though I was rooting for Sharapova yesterday. I'm not that die-hard at this point for anyone.

I missed all of this AM. I just saw Venus' little interview at the end. I think she's just so wonderful. She gave her opponent credit and was so very sweet. I also think she looks GREAT! I take it Nadal and Serena won, too. Does anyone know if Guga is still playing doubles? About TWoP... I'm completely confused as to what is on topic or off, so I'm sure glad this board opened-up. I don't really understand why we can't talk about the match? Isn't the match the main part of the program? Oh well.. Viva la revolucion! ;D

I'm not sure if Guga is playing doubles the rest of the year, but he and his partner, Robby Ginepri lost in the first round 6-7 2-6.

I too, am not keen on Serena's dress. It could have been lovely, but i think the way it falls from the bustline makes it look like a maternity dress come Homer style mumu.
SO disappointed in Nalbandy. If he just had that little bit more effort in him, he could achieve more.

So I think I can add the Serena HP commercial and the Sharapova Canon commercials to the list of things I'd rather not see again.

It's the one she's been wearing on-court that is a little.. unflattering! I like Venus' tennis clothing line a lot better.

I'd also add the McEnroe AmEx commercial and the Roddick commercial. I kind of miss the "I Feel Pretty" Sharapova commercial from last year. At least you could sing along to that one.

McEnroe and Borg are currently starring in adverts for Tesco over here in the UK. Racing each other through the supermarket to be first to pick the food and pay for it.

Yeah. To the guys (Melo and Sa) who beat Mirnyi and Bjorkman today. If anyone is interested in seeing some of the photos I've taken so far at the Open this year, here they are. (There is even a shot of Guga and Ginepri laughing in there.) When I posted the ones from Monday I posted the lo res aliases ('cause I'm a spazz) but I've put the correct hi res up so those should be nice and big and viewable and I've added some from Thursday and Friday. I saved some MB space (I get 100MB a month on Flickr) for the coming Wednesday and Saturday pictures but they won't be so close up--Wednesday is mostly doubles for me and I'll be trying to stop my nose from bleeding on Saturday. I'll get some aerial shots for atmosphere. Also, if you are a women's tennis fan I'm afraid you are out of luck. I stick to the men's side--and if you are looking for the big guys, none of them either. I avoid Ashe with a fury until the men's semis (when I have no choice). But, if you like Lopez or Max (and some others) maybe you'll find a good wallpaper. (Another caveat: this is my brand-new camera and I haven't done all that much experimenting and I did absolutely no color-correcting on any of these images. Players may appear more green than usual.) Since I'm guessing this got deleted over there, here is the link to that brilliant commercial. (You don't need to log in or register, it will play if you close that log in box).

I have to say it BECAUSE NOW I CAN, I think Borg is still extremely good-looking! I haven't seen the commercial, but I bet it's great! I like Johnny MAC, too, even though he drives me crazy sometimes. I'll never forget Guga's last U.S. open where he was playing Max Myrni(sp?). I thought it was a great match...went five sets with I think quite a few tiebreakers as I recall. Well John kept inviting friends to the booth and just yacked and yacked. He paid very little attention to the match whatsoever. In a way, I thought he really didn't like Guga very much. But since, John has said some very nice things about him, so I really don't know exactly what his problem was that night. Unfortunately Guga ended up losing. I was so bummed. And that was the last time I recall he played well at the Open. After Guga starting having major problems with his hip and just seem to never recover--even after surgeries. But I was so annoyed with Johnny Mac that night! That's just the way he can be sometimes though. I think overall he's pretty funny, actually. Edited to thank lt for the pics and the link to the commercial! OMG it's too funny. Both Bjorn and John were so very cute!
Also LOVED the pic of Guga. He has the best smile in the world! Ah man, I sure wish he could have another run..Thanks...

Thanks so much for the pictures LT
The Williams' had a much easier day of it than I had anticipated. I hope that Serena gets it together and beats Henin. I don't imagine that Dinara will prove to be a difficult opponent, but I can hope.
I was really disappointed in Tsonga's performance today. I was worried when he didn't convert those couple of breaks he had in the first and after that it was all downhill. And I have a quiet but deep love for Beer gut Dave so it was a sad afternoon on two counts
I'm sure this has been said many times but it bears repeating, CBS' commercial glut made the afternoon very difficult to get thru. We didn't need updates on matches that had just finished or graphics that showed the avg # of ball bounces before serve.

[quote I'm sure this has been said many times but it bears repeating, CBS' commercial glut made the afternoon very difficult to get thru. We didn't need updates on matches that had just finished or graphics that showed the avg # of ball bounces before serve.[/quote] And a surprisingly small number of commercials as well. No matter how clever I think that American Express ad is I do not need to see it every commercial break. Plus I had to laugh at the Maria commercial. They barely got it on air before she was out. Brings to mind the mojo campaing of a couple of years ago.
I was disppointed in Tsonga too. I had never seen him before but heard great things.
