I think a few people do that, but she's young, so she actually admitted to it

I'm sure if Radwanska had been breaking any rules, Maria would have complained to the chair. Sure, there are unwritten rules of decorum on the tennis court, but they get broken all the time. It's more of a Miss Manners Guide to Polite Sport than actual rules.
Serena Williams gives the death glare. Maria's shrieks get louder when she's trying to put an opponent off. Henin screws Serena out of a point. It happens. It's not illegal. However, I think Radwanksa was just fine.
Maria has exhibited a fragile psyche when it comes to serving. Both Williams sisters have stepped in on her second serve without much outcry at all. But they are veterans. Radwanska is a new comer and many expected her to show more deference to Maria. I hate to agree with Tyrannosaurus Tracy, but you do what you can do to win.

Have they said anything on CBS about why Serena's match hasn't started yet, even though it's scheduled at 11am?
on edit: ha ha - there she is now! Nevermind, I guess...

Mary: Serena, you won your first major here. What are the emotions when you step onto Arthur Ashe stadium? Serena: Just the emotions of playing today's match.
Awesome. Serena could not be less interested in answering the prematch questions.

Well, I guess you can't curse on here since my lost post said "thingyish." You all can guess what I meant!
I hope Nalbandian and Ljubicic can recover and win. I like both of them for some reason. Ljubicic actually has hair in his slam tracker picture on the US Open site. It's weird to see him like that.

Hey TWOP peeps!
Thanks for starting this board. I never understood how you could not talk about the coverage without discussing the players. It was like you can talk about Lost- but don't say anything about the characters.
Bartoli is an interesting character for sure. She is very fun to play. What is up with Dick insisiting that she was calling that ball out when she could have very well been challenging.

I'm having an issue with David v. David. I love sweet Ferrer. I love Dead Fish Nalby.
Bartoli's service motion drives me nuts. I keep wanting her to bounce the ball. Just once. Maybe it's a crappy ball. Maybe it won't bounce right. How can she not test it to know? GAH!!!!! I also desperately want to braid her hair. She can be a pretty girl, but that hair getting all ratty back there makes me think of dirty hippies. (I'm channeling Eric Cartman there.)

I was so po'ed when I logged in early this morning and saw what had become of our dear old tennis thread. Thanks so much for starting this new one, (formerly) Dorkgirl! Thanks for the invite, too! [snip] Whew - seems I had a lot to see once freed from the noxious constrictions of our homeland thread. Thanks again for creating this safe haven for free tennis expression! Viva la revolution!
Yes! Thank you so much for the invite. Not to be completely cranky, but I'm guessing TWOP doesn't really understand tennis too much--I had to read the constrictions 3 times and I was still confused about what I could talk. (Oh yeah, this is LT but all in lowercase now.)
Anyhoo, I did a reckless thing this morning and checked to see if I could get courtside for Federer/Lopez tomorrow. Luckily for me (and my bank account--$535!) they are completely sold out for the day matches.
I'll be back later, I just wanted to say thanks for the message.

Oooooh, I'm posting a message while coverage is on. I feel so bad.
What happened to Bill Macatee? He was very tolerable. I didn't like listening to Enberg during that Serena match.

In the interim between the Sereana/Rafa matches- I would have liked to take a peek into the David x2 or Chela/Ivan match.
And no interviews with the Rafa and Jo before their match? Oh well- at least I did some quick yardwork in the time they were showing 55 commercials between the matches.

Thanks Liz. You rock. Now I can enjoy the rest of the US Open in style (heh). I cannot stand Blake for the dumbest of reasons: he walks like he has a stick up his ass. I'm fickle that way. And after watching him and Roddick play, I don't think either has a chance to derail Fed on his march to his 10th consecutive grand slam final.

Hi everyone. Another TWOP Tennis Thread refugee here.
Thanks, dorkgirl!
I have to agree with those who couldn't quite take Enberg during the Serena/Bartoli match. Sometimes his enthusiasm is endearing, but he was wrong on the score a few too many times for my taste.

I have to agree with those who couldn't quite take Enberg during the Serena/Bartoli match. Sometimes his enthusiasm is endearing, but he was wrong on the score a few too many times for my taste. I'm a huge fan of Enberg's but yesterday during the CBS pre-show he called Blake "Blair." John made a big point of saying "James Blake" right after, just in case the viewing public didn't get it.
I am rooting for Nadal but I really do like Jo Tsonga. And John just pointed out Guy Forget! That man looks way more handsome now than he did when he was playing.
The Davids are really going full force. Wish I could see a bit. (Maybe Macatee is over there since it was the first match.)
Oh no, no, no. Max and Jonas lost their 3rd round Doubles match. I would be shocked if they stay a team after this disappointing year.

Another TWoP refugee here...I still don't have any clear idea about what I can/can't post on the "other" thread. I had posts there deleted and no idea why, because they were discussing commentators and coverage. Whatever. I've heard about the little power trips some people there go on.
I'm still undecided on Isner. I feel like he's almost Roddick 2.0 - now with added height! If he doesn't stagnate or refuse to work on other aspects of his game, he might wind up being okay.

The Davids match has been enjoyable, at least this 4th set that i've seen. The 7th game was an epic. They were 40-40, and were on their (at least) 3rd deuce when i took a 5 minute phone call, and when i got back they were STILL going at the same game, 40-40 again.
I love Fat Dave, so i want him to win, but the match is so fun i want a 5 set epic too.
