Hi folks Just got a nice invite from dorkgirl over on TWOP to check out the forum here, thank you very much. I am a EastCoast American lefty that moved here after 20+ years in SoCal, hate it. I started playing tennis in college as fulfillment of course requirement at age 20 and fell in love with the game. I discovered as a commercial later showed that I could put any face I wanted on that ball and hit it as hard as I wanted. I could also run and jump and work out a strategy while getting a great work out in the sun. After my college course I started to watch tennis to learn how to play and found out that I really enjoyed watching the sport also. Many years later I suffered my worse sprained ankle on the court and really have not been back out, so I have to admit I'm retired as a player but still enjoy watching every bit I can. I have attended multiple years at Indian Wells and all the LA local tournaments including seeing the Williams Sisters as babes in the Forum. I have made it to three US Opens always in the first week and the Pilot Pen on a regular basis. My "fantasy if I ever get rich" vacation is to follow the tour around the world for one year. In terms of my favorite player I have to admit I love everyone of them. We all know it is not easy playing that game out there alone or living that life. But I think over the years professional tennis players have shown a lot of class. The one player that kept me from watching tennis is John McEnroe, he in my opinion is the worst thing that ever happened to tennis and I still don't like him. Some favorites to mention: Borg Ashe Connors Samphras Federer all the current American men All the American ladies, Jennifer gets special mention for her comeback, then Steffi Monica, would have been the greatest ever Christi Martina 1 and 2 and now Ana I This is probably my longest post ever I hope no one minds.

Hello all. I'm also rphnick on TWoP. I've been a tennis fan since the 80's. I remember watching John McEnroe temper tantrums during the sports segment of the news and becoming interested in the sport. From there I started to watch Wimbledon coverage during summer vacations from school every year. Eventually I branched out my viewing to the other slams, but Wimbledon to this day remains my favorite grand slam. Naturally, this is a very happy time of the year for me

I'm Londontina on the TWoP boards as well. I'm a big tennis fan and have been lucky enough to get to Wimbledon this year (last week).
Many thanks for the invitation and looking forward to discussing the tennis!

Hi everyone I'm Tartlet both here and at TWOP. I got the invite to join quite a while ago (Thanks, dorkgirl!), probably when the TWOP smackdown first occurred. I resisted at first thinking the last thing I needed was another distraction at work. However, I should have known that once May-September rolled around (ie. the greatest time of the year for tennis) I wouldn't be able to resist being amongst my people. So here I am. I don't post all that often, but I am a great lurker. I've been a tennis fan since the mid to late 1980s. I have had a number of inexplicable favorites over the years ranging from Mikael Pernfors to Lleyton Hewitt. Hewitt is probably still my sentimental favorite, which I realize puts me pretty much alone out there. However, I'm currently auditioning new inexplicable favorites, with Gasquet and Ferrer looking pretty good, to fill the void should Hewitt ever retire or fade away.

Hey guys. This is more of a re-introduction. I first came onto this board when TWOP became foolish and decided to tell us NOT to talk tennis. So I joined this board when it first began. But after a series of reboots I lost the bookmark. It was only until just before Wimbledon that I was given a PM via TOP and was hooked up to this great forum again. I have only just been able to get onto a computer after a very busy couple of weeks (and my tennis coverage on Fox Sports was out for a long while!)
I am also known as Mpol at TWOP and look forward to the 2008 US summer circuit and talking more tennis with you guys!
