Hee, lt[ it sure is a good thing I noticed I had TTC, given the amount of bitching I was doing about it! Well, a happy day for me - one very tight great match and a Roger stroll.
I actually will watch some of the doubles I've recorded, given that it's so rare to see. And live doubles is indeed fantastic, some of the most fun matches ever - I just don't think it translates to tv as well as singles, probably because it is so quick. It was a revelation to me the first time I went to a tournament. I mean, singles are completely different live, too, but it's not as stark.
Were you at that Bryan bros match lt? It sounds like it would've been quite uncomfortable, I really hate when people behave badly in tennis, and this sounds especially nasty. Arguing calls and so on is one thing, but jeering is quite another.

TTC is usually pretty good about showing doubles at the bigger tournaments, particularly at the WTF's, so I'm surprised they've been falling down on the job this week. Roger was quite strong today, and I'm glad I didn't have to squirm through too much today. Under the circumstances, one tight match today was enough. I hope they both bring it tomorrow. With all the unresolved anticipation for Rafa/Roger matches this year, it would be good to have a tough fight of a match to close out the season.

Nah, I was watching that match from the comfort of my own little bed. I only stayed in London for the 1st Round Robin and one match of the 2nd Round Robin. Originally I didn't think I'd go back next year but with them moving the World Tour Finals two weeks earlier in 2012 my season will just be ending and I won't be able to take a vacation then so I'm thinking I'll try to go one last time next year--but after yesterday I'm thinking I want to be there for the semis. Boy, falafaclese, you were right about the finals getting better as they neared the end. Yesterday was incredible. Even the two-set Djoker/Roger match was a good one to watch--watching Roger when he plays like that is a treat in and of itself.
When I woke up this morning I noticed that ESPN2 was airing part of the Rafa/Murray semi and talking a lot about the final coming up at 12:30 today. I know it will be impossible to get people away from football but hopefully some people who watched just a little of that semi will be interested in checking out the final. I'm always curious to see which sport matters more to me--football or tennis--but every time I get the choice I go with tennis, even when my precious Giants are playing. Thank goodness for dual tuner TiVo though. I can switch back and forth as necessary without losing any of the action.
Four minutes to Max/Mahesh vs. Daniel/Nenad!
Damn, why am I listening to Ted Robinson instead of Ashley Fisher? Fisher and his commentating partner were doing a great job on the doubles so why do I have to deal with Robinson and Arias?

Interesting that Bhupathi and Paes will be playing as a team again next year. I'm sure after all this time there won't be the same antagonism between the two of them, but it will still be interesting to see.
Arias doesn't bother me, but he has this weird sort of permanent chuckle in his voice. I could understand how that could become annoying.

Yeah, I couldn't figure it out either until Ted and Jimmy started talking about how their non-great serving doesn't matter so much on grass because of the sliding serve they both have and then I realized. . . Olympics! Maybe they want to be in great pair shape for London 2012 if they can stay together for two years. I guess we'll see.
Oh well. Not the greatest doubles match--both semis were better, but that could be because I hate seeing Max lose. They had some good opportunities in the first set but never looked that good in the 2nd.
On paper, Max and Daniel should be a great pairing. I hope they can live up to it.
I love getting to see the Roger Lindt commercial on TV. It's one of his best.

Roger and Rafa's shirts really clash.

Their shirts do clash, and in all fairness I have to say Roger looks pretty bad in that color too. Don't these guys have mirrors? They are both capable of looking amazing - but I guess you have to keep coming up with new outfits so they'll sell more of the "newest thing". Colorblind, they're all colorblind I swear.
But damn, they are some fantastic tennis players.

Rafa's shirt clashes with everything in the known world.
The shot-making! Yowsa. It's also nice watching a match where the spectators are evenly divided. Equal clapping.

Great first set by Roger, now Rafa's gotten more aggressive in the second. good match so far. Hopefully, we'll get a tight third set.

Is something wrong with Bhupathi's shoulder? He has such an abbreviated serve? I noticed it when I watched him at Roger's Cup and see it's still the same so I wondered if he has a problem with it?

Watching these two play each other at a year-end final is really a treat. They truly are the best hands down.

Much as I'm generally not one who roots for Federer/Nadal match-ups (give me the semi matchups over them any day of the week), I must say it is cool they're playing each other in their last match of the year. That and I was curious how Nadal's newish serve holds against Federer on a service which generally favors Federer.

And how weird is it that it's been 24 years since #1 and #2 have met at the final match? I never would have guessed that.
I think that's just his serve. Jimmy Arias was talking about how he doesn't have any real backswing either and that's why he's such a good returner but isn't a strong server.
Mirka is so pretty when she smiles. Beautiful dimples.
I wish Rafa had been able to keep up his 2nd set play in the 3rd and I while I'm glad the match ended on a winner, I wish it had been a clear winner so the celebration could have been immediate. Beyond that--great match! Really good points. Now I just need ESPN2 to stay and show the entire ceremony.

Aw, I'm so happy for Roger, my boy. This is also a really good result for tennis because as enormous stars as Rafa and Roger both are, their rivalry is even bigger, as long as it's not too one-sided.
I agree that Mirka is so pretty. And I think Rafa's and Roger's shirts really complement each other, like Pop Art or Pucci.
