Very happy for Monfils win. I really hope the French team can pull this off. I wonder if Llodra will get naked and run around the court if they win the Davis Cup?

*sigh* Wonder if Forget is questioning his decision to put Simon in the singles spot now. . . This match is the mirror image of the first right now.

I was surprised by the amount of cheering for the French too. They seemed just as loud as the rest of the crowd. I'm glad Gael shut it down without a lot of drama. He had some short spates of errors, but overall, he was clearly superior to Tipsarevic through the whole match. Unfortunately, Djokovic is managing the same thing over Simon right now. I think saving Llodra was the right choice. As well as he has been playing, I think he would have had a tough time against Djokovic today. If France can win the doubles, I think they have a better than 50% chance of winning the whole thing with Llodra playing the last match relatively fresh. Monfils/Djokovic could be very interesting. I think Djokovic is not looking unbeatable even given their head-to-head history. ETA: His play right now in the third set notwithstanding EATA: I take that back, Djokovic just failed to serve it out at 5-4.

Good point about keeping Llodra fresh for the doubles and whatever might be needed on Sunday.
And Simon just tied it up in the third! Exciting!
eta: all props to Djoker for breaking right back. Darn it all.

Djoker got tentative there at the end.

Gah - This doubles match is killing me. Here we go to a fifth set. Allez France!

Okay, Guy. You're looking smart now regarding picking Simon as the #2. No way in hell would France have a chance today if Llodra had played yesterday.

I was thinking the same thing! Way to prove me wrong, Guy. Thanks.
But I would forgive Guy anything because of this:
LOVE! Maybe it was because it was said with Guy's delightful French-accented English but I just love that line.

I didn't get to watch it, but I was following the score. that must have been some match. I'll definitely have to catch the replay at some point.

Fala - It was an odd match. At the beginning Troicki could do not wrong and Celment could do no right. Llodra wasn't really being a shining star but was playing competently. Somewhere in the 3rd set things shifted. Troicki started to play like crap and Clement started to play better. By the end of the match Clement could do not wrong and was running around putting balls away left, right and centre.
The crowd was not as well behaved as Friday's crowd.

This match is no fun. Llodra's not playing well at all.
ETA: To be fair, Troicki is playing really well, but I think if Llodra wasn't so flat, it would at least be a fight out there. He's usually much more dynamic than this, even when he's not winning.

That was just a sad ending to this whole thing. I wonder what would have happened had Gilles played? I had to close the feed after the match ended as I don't think I could have endured Djoker strutting around the area. I wonder if he O Fortuna playing again while he did his victory march?

Like I needed more proof that I'd be a lousy coach. . . Even my couch coaching sucks.
I couldn't watch for any lengthy periods of time. I'm glad it was Troicki who won the deciding match since he's the only Serb player who hasn't pissed me off in some way (although I'm thinking Zimonjiac with Llodra might get away from the sniping that ended the Nenad/Nestor pairing and I might come back around with Zimonjiac) but it really wasn't the outcome I was hoping for. Llodra was just D.E.A.D. And I agree with whichever commentator who said that watching Gael is watching the sublime to the ridiculous. He looked pretty damn awful in the third set (I missed the first two sets but the scoreline doesn't make it look like it was much better).
breezy, I noticed the crowd for today seemed to be a lot like yesterday's fans. I don't like all that whistling and stomping and cheering for double faults. Goes to show that I would never be happy at a Davis Cup match since I know that's what is needed for a home match but it just isn't my thing.

If Serbia had to win this, I am glad it was Troicki instead of Tipsarevic that won it. I did feel for him yesterday when the crowd essentially turned his head into a mess.
But I really wish I hadn't found the pics of Llodra crying and being consoled by Guy and (I think) Julien afterwards. He's the main reason France was in this position in the first place!

Agreed. Glad it wasn't Djoker either.
I finally watched the final few points. Felt awful watching Llodra afterwards. But it was nice that the entire French team surrounded him and tried to make him feel better.
Did anyone see the Serbian team after they shaved their heads? Troicki doesn't look any different because his hair is so damn short. Tipsarevice? Not pretty at all.
