A friend currently at the Open just e-mailed me to say that Querrey's opponent (Klahn) was just nailed in, shall we say, a very sensitive area. The trainer has been called for. How does a trainer cure that? Speaking from experience, I'm pretty positive that the only cure for that is time and a double vodka. Oh, the humanity!

I'm watching the Ivanovic/Zheng match and Ana's toss is still the wonkiest serve I've ever seen from a pro. She does a pretty good job of chasing the ball, but I can't believe she can't get a consistent toss after what must be thousands of hours of practice.

Yikes, Vika passed out right on the court, and they had to take her off in a wheelchair. She looked terrible. I hope she's okay.

Didn't Ana's thumb injury mess up her toss or something? Or maybe it's all mental. But I do agree it is bizarre.

Poor Azarenka. She has such problems with heat.
eta: hee, I told my friend to leave Armstrong and go watch Starace/Almagro. I wanted to see if he agreed with me about Starace (yum) but now he's now crushing on Almagro instead.

Does that work kfc? I have struggles sometimes with my toss and if it works I'd be interested in getting one. Brad Gilbert's face better not be on the front of the box though.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious that she was chasing her toss around. She definitely got the job done though. She looked very sharp in every other way, and even with the chasing, she was serving pretty well.

breezybee- I'm not sure. I've tried the wrist assist before, as I have a wonky wrist on my forehand, and it helped stabilize it somewhat while practicing. I've never had the bravery to wear it in a match, haha. I'm guessing it might aid in muscle-memory correction?
Wow, Ian Eagle really needs to stop talking. He asks a question, then starts answering for the player.
Dulko is really pretty in her studio interview.

I'm watching it on my computer. I'm torn. I really like Llodra and am so happy that he's playing well this year but I really like Berdych and don't want him going out in the first round. . .

Berdych and Bartoli out.
I am really disappointed that the US Open website is the only one that doesn't do the As it Happens Blog/News Update. It was a good way to get a minute by minute account of what was going on on all the courts.

I just noticed that the usopen.org website has live footage available which is pretty good quality if you can't get espn3.com, or you're not finding what you want at livescorehunter.com.

Well, Tomas, research question answered: kiss of death am I. No one look at my pool.
Just put tiki back on the train toward home. How super fun... Seriously. I canceled a class and soused her up good for the trip. Looking forward to adding a bunch of y'all next year. Not many places in the world worse than Chicago's Union Station in late summer but I think we found one: Cincy, here we come!

Looks like Vika fell off the treadmill doing sprints and hit her head. I bet she has a concussion and going out and playing tennis was a seriously bad idea. I've had a few concussions and movement always makes it worse, and extreme movement... I'm just really wondering how her trainer or doctor let her on the court. Head injuries should be taken very seriously even if it seems like nothing and it's surprising they let her play at all.
