Given that, during the France vs. US mixed doubles, Mahut told Isner to "be nice" regarding his serving to Kristina, it seems more a big brother vibe. At least I hope so since Nicolas has been such a sweetie in this tournament.

TTC's Hopman coverage is shit. I'm glad Serbia made the finals so I can watch me some Nole. If they hadn't I would have never seen him at all.
Oh and hi!

Good to have you back Jer! Don't be a stranger. We need someone around here to defend Nole. Although even I feel like I may be softening towards him after having seen his interaction with Ana this week. The two of them seem to be having a lovefest (totally platonic, of course) which makes sense considering how long they've been friends. I'm sure I'll sour on him again before long.
I agree that TTC's coverage this week kinda sucks. You'd think, given the fact that most of the matches take place in the middle of the night in the US, that they'd do replays in the evenings from the previous session, but I haven't seen much. I did enjoy the match between Bethanie Mattek and Schiavone the other night. Franny was coughing up a lot of UEs, but Bethanie was really playing well, and she's fun to watch.

All they're showing is team USA's matches and the final. So weak.

I don't get TTC so I've been watching on line in the mornings while I eat breakfast. Only advantage is that all of the matches are on. For some odd reason though they are only starting coverage of the Brisbane men's tournament at the semifinals.

He is so my favorite alien. And, yeah, Jer2002! We missed a pro-Djokovic presence around here. . . I haven't really been watching TTC yet this year but when I have turned it on in the evenings it was the exo from last week which doesn't really interest me at this point. For those that wonder why I love doubles so much, check out this video of highlights from the Brisbane semis. Max and Daniel lose (darn) but it looks like Dlouhy has new life in his partnership with Hanley.

Hopman Cup had its schedule rearranged so that both Italy vs. France and US vs Great Britain aired. I turned on the TV at six a.m. and was stunned to see there was tennis on (Isner vs. Murray - John looked beaten down by the heat after a half hour of play, not a good sign).
For the Nole (and, even more so, Ana) fans, however, I have some bad news: Ana is injured and the team has pulled out of the final. So it's Belgium vs. US. I hope the Justine fans hear about this.

It's too bad that Serbia had to drop out. They would have been the clear favorite for sure if they had played, but I'm very happy for Bethanie and John. Like I said, I love watching her play, and I'm especially happy that she could have a good result to build on going into the Aussie. Over all this tournament had a lot of bad injury luck. It looks like Jaroslava Shvedova's out for a while with a torn meniscus, Laura Robson has pulled out of the Aussie already, Frannie is having movement issues as a result of her groin injury, and who knows what's going to happen with Ana.
Robin Soderling won an enjoyable final against Andy Roddick in Brisbane. With this win, he takes over the number four spot. He's playing with the usual power, but he seems to be attacking the net quite a bit more, and it seems to be paying dividends. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does next week. Andy played a solid match, but couldn't make headway. He should improve with some more matches though. It wasn't a bad start to the season for him, although he got a little testy over whether they should restart play after a short rain delay, and i couldn't understand why he was arguing before anyone even told him he had to play.
ETA: Apparently it was Andy slipping on a line that caused the delay in the first place, so I can understand his concern a little more.

I watched the Soderling/Roddick match too. It was a good match but honestly, I don't see how Roddick could ever beat Soderling with the way Robin was playing. Without the serve, Roddick would have hardly won a game.
I realize that Roddick gets frustrated when he's losing and takes it out on the umpire or whatever official happens to be standing there. There is always a loser in a tennis match which means that 50% of players are probably frustrated at any given time and they don't behave that way. Every time I start to root for Roddick he acts like a tool.

I think the director tried to make it as douchey as possible. Admittedly he had some help from the lead actor.

What? Doesn't everyone associate dandruff shampoo and passion? I know when I smell that Head and Shoulders scent it just makes me want to rip my clothes off.

I heard Andrea Petkovic's on-court interview after her semifinal win and now have another woman player to root for. She was absolutely delightful, intelligent and funny. I've never watched her play, but all the women play alike anyway, so I go for the personalities.
Go Andrea!
Go Dinara! (Still adore her.)

Glad to see some good quality play in these run-ups to the Oz. Sure, Fed beat Davy fairly easily, but no worries. Davy is coming back from an injury, and at least the commentators feel he (Davy) is playing right at top 10 level,(which he should, he IS a top 10 player) so no worries.
Now bring me back a healthy JMDP, ditto on Tsongas and let's see some serious competition for the top men's spots. I figure Sod and Rod are bound to be competitive, with these days Sod having the edge.
Nadal I don't worry about at all: that was an illness, not an injury, eveybody get's sick sometimes, and he's still far and away #!.
And of course one can not forget DJok and Murray - it's looking packed at the top, such fun!
Now for the women. I've always been a skeptic about Zvonoreva, but keep it up Vera and I will be delighted to eat my words. C'mon, prove it some more, be the real deal - I'm ready, willing, and able to be a fan. Sure I'll always root for Kim, but would love to root for you, too'1
Looking fun heading into the first GS, no? All of the above plus the Petkovic's and Wickmayers and Kvitova's, and can't hardly omit the Woz either.
Venus, Henin, Sharpy I'm not too sure about, but if nothing else they're all big name draws.
