Happy holidays guys! Another great year of enjoying (and bitching about) tennis with a great group of people! Here's hoping for many more!

Much as I love tennis and will be looking fo-wa-d to the Oz open, etc, I haven't minded the b-eak, not fo- my own sake, and especially not fo- the playe-s, cause damn they need a break, the season is almost endless even so.

I don't mind the exhibitions (yay, Hopman Cup!) but I just can't get into tour tennis yet. That apparently the WTA has Brisbane, the very first tournament, as a Premier event and imposed fines for those in Hopman Cup (meaning I'd presume Wozniacki, Kvitova, Li and Bartoli as they are the elite ladies at HC) is rather ridiculous.
The Big Three are playing an exhibition this week and Nadal announced he's having shoulder issues but he's playing through January for now. Which makes it three years in a row Rafa will have an injury issue at the Australian Open.

I don't mind the exhibitions (yay, Hopman Cup!) but I just can't get into tour tennis yet. I knew Hopman Cup was starting on the 31st, but I completely forgot Abu Dhabi was underway already. I can at least get vids of live tennis online! Then maybe I'll catch some Hopman action while I'm lounging loafing around on New Years Day. p.s. there are video links on livescorehunter.com p.p.s. Speaking of online vids, it's really a sin that Kuzy/Schiavone is not a top 30 choice from last year. I just watched the highlights, and it only seems more impressive. The level of shot making that was happening there, and the defensive and transition play and just the sheer quality level that occurred at the end of such a long and physical match is something that both of them should be proud of. |

Happy Holidays, all. And yum, tiki. I was thinking of you with the snowstorms in New Mexico--were you affected? Did your Maine experience help you out? Anyone out there with Comcast? A judge just ruled in favor of TTC to move TTC off of the deluxe tier it is currently in and into the same digital package where Golf and Versus are. Of course Comcast is appealing the judgement and isn't planning on moving the channel over while they are appealing. I found the article while looking to see if Cablevision me has any chance of getting TTC and while I'm happy for the Comcast folk (and I hope some of you are the recipients of this good news) this actually sucks for Cablevision and Fios people because now TTC are planning on using the Comcast news (and the increase in viewers because of it) to get more live tennis and aren't planning on dealing with the Cablevision situation. So, yeah!, less tennis and less chance of getting it. *blergh* eta: falafaclese, look at our posts count--isn't it a bit weird that we hit the same count right next to each other? Cool. |

At Doha, Federer's first round match is against Davydenko. Talk about possibly setting the tone early for both their seasons.
