I'm surprised to find myself in distress about this match. I thought I was fine with the possibility of Federer losing but I'm not. I have to leave for work so I can't watch the fifth set. Hopefully it's all over when I get there.

I'm surprised at how haggard Roger looks.
And of course once Roger broke in the 5th he'd blaze right to the finish and I can't say I'm displeased but it would have been interesting if Simon had managed to beat him.

The look of relief on Mirka's face when the camera went to her after the last point was great. She looked like she might swoon. And that was a pretty endearing post-match interview. It was nice to hear Roger saying that the second and third sets occurred because Simon took it to him, rather than his own level dropping significantly.
It's good to see Gilles making his way back.
ETA: It would be nice to see Sandra Zahlavova use her performance against Venus as a confidence booster to get her out of the ITF Circuit and into more tour level events. Even though she lost, she really took it to Venus in the first set, and seemed to regroup in the third. I really like her.

My thoughts exactly. I woke up to Roger losing the third set and had to leave for work at 3-2 in the fifth. I pretty much ran to my computer and loaded up the score before I even opened my e-mail. I was worried all my thoughts going to Fer were going to hurt Roger (yeah, I'm superstitious. Is any sports fan not?).
Feli vs. Tomic is second on Hisense today so I'm hoping I'll get some coverage on TTC but streaky Jankovic is on first so that could go in minutes, or hours. Rafa vs. Sweeting is 2nd on Laver so I know ESPN won't be going to Hisense.
Chesty, Feli and Pico are last on Court 7. That court starts off with men's singles (Becker vs. Dolgopolov) and then two women's doubles before Feli/Pico close out the court. I wish Feli was playing with Gabashvili like he did at the US Open. They had complementary styles and it was fun to say Feli/vili. But Gabashvili played with someone else and lost in the first round. I guess I just with Feli could find another permanent partner. He and Fer were a good team.

From watching various Davis cup matches I think Feli should play with Tommy. I think Robredo is a better doubles player than Verdasco because he seems so much more comfortable at the net and when I've seen them play together they make a great team.

Tommy would be a good choice. I, no surprise, wish for Max and Feli to partner up. They're both huge attackers with big serves and both race up to the net. It would be very imposing for their opponents. And I would travel the world to watch them play.

Yes, Max would also be a good choice. I've often thought that Feli should pursue doubles more than he does. He's very talented at doubles and his whole demeanour is different.
Does anyone know if court 7 is a televised court?

I don't think it has permanent cameras, which would mean they'd pull them out after the men's singles match is over. Ack! ESPN2 is showing basketball tonight until 11pm. That means anyone without TTC will have to stick to streams instead. Also means I'll have to listen to Martina Navratilova do commentary. That is not a good thing. But maybe I'll get more of a peek at Feli playing Tomic. I know I've seen before that Andrew Garfield (in that idiotic Spider-Man Broadway show) looks like Andy Murray, but my goodness, he really does:

Whew, just catching up. I can't read this thread when I have PVR'ed tennis, because I'm not dedicated enough to watch tennis when I know the outcome. I also have to avoid news sites, for the same reason.
To recap: Kubot is super-hot, but his fans are super annoying. But they're pretty well behaved during the points... remember Baghdatis' contingent? -shudder-
Sod's dimples are hot.
Venus' dress is frickn ridiculous. You can actually see panties through the lattice... it's HORRIBLE. I'm surprised that she pulled that out... she really got away with a lot during the bagel set - I guess her opponent couldn't really deal with huge strokes.

Yeah, if the Fug Girls weren't so busy with the Golden Globes I'm sure we'd have gotten a write-up on this one.
Darn it! Fer's Twitter has been taken over by some viral adidas ad campaign--and if adidas wanted to make it look authentic they should have written it in English and Spanish (since all of Fer's tweets are in both languages). I was hoping to get a comment on how he's feeling right now.

Yeah, color me shocked that Jankovic is out [/sarcasm]. Rafa/Sweeting isn't so great either.
I'm so sad that Llodra is out!
When I got home from work I watched the end of the Federer/Simon match and I think Roger and Jim Courier need to take their act on the road. Jim is just so good with these players and when Roger is comfortable he'll say anything.
I see Feli is back to his samurai hairdo. Not a fan. I'm okay with the hot pink though.
Damn, Feli is playing really sucky so far. Man, Tomic is strutting around like total ass. And the headband and the sunglasses. Ugh. I have a visceral dislike to that kid.

Watching Feli now. I'd like to see him beat Tomic.
Today definitely feels like a bit of a lull after the drama over the first three days. Which is okay, because I think I may have reached critical mass in the sleep deprivation department.
