I imagine (hope) Venus will get it together in the 2nd. Wait, she's limping pretty badly.
Tipsy has completely lost it. I agree with Brad (shock!) This is a match that will bother him for quite a while. Still wish ESPN would go back to it though. . .
My goodness, I must be tired. I agree with Brad and not Darren--Tipsy gives it his all at the beginning of a match but cannot keep up that pace. And since conditioning is part of tennis that means Tipsy didn't "deserve" to win this match.

Geeze- Venus looks like she is in a LOT of pain. I think she pulled or tore something. You can tell in the replay of the point. I hope she is okay.
Tipsy's mind is fried. I don't like though when announcers such as Darren right here say a player "deserves" to win a match like he is saying Tipsy should. That's why you play the freaking points.

Heee, Chesty, we agree about that "deserve" statement, huh? We even both put it in quotes!
Okay, as much as I'd like to keep an eye on Mahut/Troicki I'm really off to bed now. . . and I'll be waking up to Roger later.
'Night all.

Some of my favorite eye candy just went out of the tournament as Juan Monaco went down in four sets to Robin Haase. Pico is so frustrating at times- plays a great point and then a silly mistake. And then he is so emotive (and sexy...) Sad to see him go but he will still play doubles with Flo. Juan has had some good dubs results and can be good at the net and of course Flo has some nice experience in dubs so the team may do all right.
Robin Haase's new very mid to late 1980s-early 1990s. Hmmm....
Nico Almagro and Igor Andreev going into a 5th. Anyone else watching that. Nico got jobbed on a couple of bad line calls in the 4th set tiebreak but eventually won the set. Steam was coming out of his ears practically and he lost his brain for a bit- as he tends to do.
But I totally agree with the announcers- these other show courts need Hawkeye too. The umps are often useless nowadays except for the very best ones as they are so used to Hawkeye that they are very wary of overruling when they are not on a court without it. Schiavone also got into it with the chair ump in her match because the lack of Hawkeye and the ump not doing anything.

Now Zahlavova's having a meltdown?? How do you fight so feircely to win the first set and then get that rattled? I guess it's hard when you know how pained Venus looked and then seeing her dictating points like this.
ETA: Sorry to hear about Pico, chesty. He's a lot of fun to watch.

Yeah- I think it must be disconcerting. But Venus is never one imo to fake injuries, etc. so Zahalova should just focus on playing her game. I want Venus to win though. My favorite move of Pico is his pray motion to the heavens and or the chair ump.

This is hilarious - I follow twitter on Tweetdeck and I must have searched Australian open the other night - now I'm getting all these tweets in languages I don't understand appearing on my screen - but did Venus just win a 6-0 set?

Yes she did. Her movement is noticeably compromised after what appeared to be a painful hip/groin strain at the end of the first set, and she managed to bagel her opponent in the second set.

Well- should turn in now as I stayed up a bit late with the matches last night. Time to set the DVR and visit the land of Nod. Night folks

Oh, Venus. One of my favorite characters ever is Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. Oscar would be embarrassed by your outfit. I mean, good God. I'm not a prude. I love short skirts and flirty outfits and glimpses of flesh. But not like I'm glimpsing flesh because the garbage can didn't provide better coverage. JESUS FUCK.

I slept, but now I'm up again. I can't believe Venus pulled off that win.

Simon just broke to serve for the fourth set, and I'm dying.
