Well, fuck. I also like Tsonga, but obviously not as much as Fed. It's beginning to feel like to many times in the 1/4's it's "just not his day" when he comes up against someone known to be talented and can go hot and cold: Sod(not as much with the hot and cold), Be-dcyh, now Tsonga. I do not app-ove! He's just not above the field like he used to be, he's come down, they've come up, and the intimidation isn't in play like it was.
OTOH, now all my ne-ves a-e gone. I'll watch and enjoy good matches, pull fo- some people mo-e than othe-s, but .... no stomach in knots. Yeah, I'll go with it would be fun to see AndyM vs Tsonga in the final.

Eh I still want Rafa to win so Djoko doesn't become number 1. But that may be inevitable. And it's pretty selfish considering now exciting it would be to have a complete newbie win.
I kind of want to see Andy lose because it makes me happy when the Brits get upset and because Lopez in a semi would be interesting. But on the other hand, I do like Andy so hopefully he does well. I'm SO CONFLICTED!!!
It would be fun to see Tsonga win it all.

What little I saw of the second set of the Federer/Tsonga match, Roger seemed to be cruising while letting Jo's level go up. When NBC switched over in the fifth, you could see the result of that as Jo's confidence grew and Roger was stuck.
It does seem strange that, in the last few years, the biggest best-of-3 lead I've seen Roger blow and now the biggest best-of-5 lead were both against the same guy.
Nice that Rafa and Andy weren't influenced by the other two matches.

I think Djok only becomes #1 if he himself makes the final? I could be off. I think it would be kind of a blast to see Tsonga win it all, can you imagine the joy he'd have? He's so expressive anyway and he'd go nuts. And the whole place would go nuts if Andy won.
On Nadal: I'm su-e some people have said he's faking(people will say anything), but noone he-e, and noone on tv that I've hea-d. Yes he gets te--ibly upset when he's inju-ed and had to pull out, natu-ally. And he's had it happen so he's quick to suspect things a-e bad. I also think he has some annoying habits that would be best cu-bed, but I don't think he does them to be annoying. I think he's a good guy but a little too set in his ways and fea-ful of injury to an extent that he always thinks "oh no, this is it, this is the end". I don't know if I'm making sense.

I think Rafa has to win to stay # 1 - retain all his points. Djoko just needs to make the final or he needs to have someone else beat Rafa.

And, fala, the match where JW beat Fed was a three-set match that Fed led 5-1 in the third. I don't know how the first two sets were distributed. You're right. I did know that, but wasn't clear about that when I described the match earlier. First set to Tsonga in a tiebreak, second set 6-1 to Fed, third and final set, Fed led 5-1, but Tsonga came back and won it.

Is Murray hurt? I keep seeing him grimace, but that's not at all determinative considering it's Murray.

The stream I'm watching says he did get injured late in the match. They also said that if he had gotten injured earlier or was playing "a more accomplished player" it would have gone badly for Andy. Poor Feli--giant killer one day, also ran the next. . .
Kim Sears just keeps getting prettier, doesn't she? It's that hair. My goodness, what hair. But she better watch out--Pippa looked awfully happy at the win. . . (can you imagine? Heh. No, I can't).
eta: sweet Andy. When asked about how he was playing he said that Feli was tired from a long previous match. re: his injury--he said he just turned his foot the wrong way and that he'll get some treatment. Then the interviewer asked him if he was a hypochondriac. (Is that the word of the tournament?) Andy replied that all the players are dealing with some injuries.

I must admit the semifinal matchups are wonderful and should make for some magnificent tennis. Is it Friday yet?
Yeah, I'm bummed about Roger and yet excited for Tsonga. I'm Rafa's girl and yet thrilled that Murray's in the hunt. Curiouser and curiouser, I tell ya.

Oh my goodness. How cute--I'm watching the ESPN2 folk interview Tsonga and he said that after the match he hadn't realized that Federer was waiting for him so when he did he quickly grabbed up all his stuff so they could walk off together. Sweet of Roger to wait, sweet of Tsonga to rush around so Rog wouldn't have to stand there waiting.

Probably the only version of the final I don't want is Rafa vs Jo - which, coincidentally, is the only scenario in which Rafa still has a chance at keeping #1. Nothing against Rafa, just that it's the result that's rather clear - especially with the Queens match fresh in mind. While Rafa is better on grass than Novak, who knows how much the other losses have truly gotten in his head so it's not a given. The Andy versions - well, frankly, I want to see how crazy the British can really get. Probably only Bud Collins has seen that!

Forgot to mention - how awesome was it seeing Goran and Patrick sitting next to each other during the Djokovic-Tomic match? Especially thinking of the Croatian and Aussie mix that leads to Bernard being there.

Is that Alison Lang in the chair? Whoever it is, I love her delivery.
ETA: No it isn't. I don't know who that is.
Oy. A double fault on match point. How sad.

My cousin mentioned that. Wasn't Rafter one of the guys who was vocal about Tomic needing to grow up? If yes, his sitting there bodes well that Tomic listened.
Congrats to Kvitova--she was the one I wanted to win. Streaky match though. It evens out my hopes for the next semi because while I want Maria to win, I feel like she'd just feast on Kvitova in the final with Kvitova's nerves going crazy and a Lisicki/Kvitova final would at least have two equally nervous players playing.
I won't get to see the next semi until NBC comes on in the CT. ESPN2 is showing the Roger/Tsonga match and, I gotta say, it is hard to see how close Roger was to getting the third set back on serve at 4-5. He had 0-30 on Tsonga's serve and half-assed a point that would have given him three break points to get back on serve. I didn't get to see the third or fourth sets yesterday so this is new, and sad, for me.
