Sharapova may not have served that well, but I don't think her 6 doubles dictated the outcome. Yeah, she's hit way more than that and still managed to hold on and pull through. In fact, that's become her specialty. Petra really brought her focus today. With her streaky play, that was my biggest worry for her, but she ultimately did the job she needed to do when nobody other than she and her team thought she ahd much of a chance. I'm very proud of her, and I'm always endeared to someone understated like her. Her dad's reaction kind of got to me too. I felt bad for Maria. Even when she's lost, she rarely looks like the match is just out of her hands, and it seemed like that to me today. It seemed like all she could hope for was a letdown by Kvitova, and that's not her game at all. The last time I saw her look like that was against Serena in the 2007 Aussie final. I'm sure she'll be able to to regroup, but today Petra was just not going to let it get away from her. I hope the coming onslaught of media fawning and hounding doesn't prove too much for Petra. She doesn't seem like the type who craves being the center of attention. I got 9 out of 10. I couldn't figure out one of the guys' grunts.

Well, I was hoping for a Shrieky win, which is strange because I always used to hope she would lose. I like Kvitova though and was happy to see her play so well. I sure wish she'd do something about her posture.

OMG I listen to a lot of tennis. I got nine, but only because my daughter insisted I pick Dementieva over Bovina (but I knew it all along)...

Your daughter and me. . . I picked Demetieva over Bovina too.
So did I so when I went shopping today and saw a Cole Haan outlet I went in. And looked at the Maria Sharapova ballet shoes. And tried some on. And bought a pair. There Maria! Hope that helps!

Not spectacular tennis from the women. I want finals where I'm on the edge of my seat, but lately I find that I'm rarely caring (Li Na excepted).
I -REALLY- hope Nadal can win tomorrow... I'm a hypocrite in that I won't mind if THAT match is a total rout as long as Nadal wins.
I gotta say, though, that Djokovic's brothers are seriously cute. /shallow

Anyone up and watching?
Did McEnroe just call Borg "Bjorny?"

I'm here but missed that comment, though it wouldn't surprise me if he said it. I love me some Bjorny.
Go Rafa!

I don't know how it happened, but I think I am cheering for Novak.

Rafa's looking passive out there right now.

Now Djoker seems to have upped his game. Rafa's playing better, but Djoker's just getting to everything

I'm not watching. I just can't. But these comments are breaking my heart. =(
I think it may be true. Nole is in Rafa's head. I always thought Rafa's mentality was his strongest asset. What happens when he loses that?

Me too! I don't like the roaring at random winners (breaking, sure, after a bunch of deuces to win a game, absolutely, but to go up 40-15? Nah) but I do like that the "Nole" has been taken off of his butt. I wonder how that came about? I can't imagine Sergio Tacchini saying "you look like an idiot with your name on your ass so we're taking it off" so does that mean Novak told them to take it off? Maybe his girlfriend pointed out how stupid it looked?
The other thing I like is that Djokovic isn't standing back there just hitting stuff back--there have been loads of interesting shots. I know he's been playing this style most of this year but this is the first time I think I want him to win so I'm appreciating it more.
Meanwhile, still two separate boxes for the families. I am so curious as to when that started.

This is fairly comprehensive, but it's not as if Rafa is playing poorly. Novak is just on fire today.

This is rather incredible. I'm pretty happy about this. I like them both but this is impressive as fuck. Go on Nole with your bad self.
