Hoo boy. She never misses a trick does she? We get it. Novak's having a great year, everyone has said it and said it again. The gloating, no matter how proud a mother you are, is just gross. What makes it even more gross is that this comes after her "the king is dead, long live the king" comment after Nole won his first Aussie proved to be nothing if not premature. Just relax, be gracious and enjoy your son's success for Pete's sake. No need to crow about the obvious. Introspective, she's not.
And from the "I shouldn't be chuckling but I am because I have a black soul" department, the following twitter from Steve Tignor:

That's so funny. I saw the Royal Box list on Wimbledon.com this morning and when I got to Gimelstob it stopped me short. . . the hell?!?
Oh, Mrs. Djokovic. You are so very, very classless. You don't know how far it would go to liking Djoker if he would just shut them the hell up but I have a feeling he likes that they're saying the stuff he knows he can't. I really hope younger brother does try the US college route because some solid time away from those particular 'rents would be a great thing.

We've gotten so used to Federer and Nadal's camps being so secretive to the press that it's gonna be jarring now that Novak is #1. The brothers are destined to be screwed over if they're in a family is which it's freely admitted that Novak was the favorite son growing up and everything was done to make him great.
Think that's bad? If Murray actually ever becomes a champ, his mother and brother will need to figure out a way to filter what goes from brain to mouth (or twitter - even though I agree the Deliciano thing was a funny distraction). Not about bragging in their case, about personal lives. Just read something on the ATP site about Jamie saying in an interview that he's pushing Andy toward marrying Kim, probably since he just got married last year and it helped his doubles game. Nevermind that Andy being his partner when he should have been on his honeymoon is what helped his doubles so that's just stupid but I guess there needed to be one last thing to throw at the press before Wimbledon is over.

Gosh, and I thought she had said that a year before when Djoker made the final of the USO after having beaten Fed for the first time in Canada. Maybe it was something else equally gracious. What's the matter with that woman? Doesn't she understand that being so horrible only hurts her son's reputation in comparison with the two charming champions he's competing against?

I am so happy after the very bad week I had. I was so scared Nole would lose this match after getting to #1 that it would kind of be like the Woz situation and people would start talking shit. And for the record, I love his mom, she makes me laugh. I wonder if she lunches with Judy Murray? Those would be some great convos to eavesdrop on.

I don't think you'd need to eavesdrop. They'd probably stream the whole thing live! Congrats to you! Sorry it's been a bad week... I've been thinking a lot about body language and our top three. It was so interesting to me that Nole dropped to the ground and splayed his limbs. Such an open-body gesture. Roger tends to crumble inward, as if he can finally rest after keeping up the strong front. Rafa goes exuberant (right? why can I not remember for sure?) with eyes automatically on his box. Interesting, I think. Well to me, but my active inner life enjoys this kind of thing [/geek]. I guess those are the distinctions between the players' characters for me. Roger = self; Rafa = family; Nole = audience. Hmmmm - back to my head to ponder....

Ugh, Djok's mom is just the wo-st. I can handle him cause he's such a damn good tennis playe-, and been a long time since I think he's done/said anything objectionable, but I can't handle he-. Just shut up and let me enjoy you- son fo- his own good qualities. When has anyone in Fed o- Nadal's camp been this obnoxious? Not that I can recall. Djok is fine, just let him make his own way with the public, he's best without you, at least publically.
ETA: Oh, and I don't think Djok would eve- be compa-able to Woz. He'd al-eady won 2 Slams, and he's just, to me, way bette-. I think the only way he'd only won 2 Slams is cause the 2 above him we-e so fantastic, with Woz I think the only way she made #1 is cause the field is so weak.

This is from a few days ago on Andy Murray's Twitter but Darren hurt his calf the other day. What is going on with athletes and their calves?[/quot Cahill mentioned this the other AM joking that he needed whatever painkillers Rafa was referring to during his injury timeout vs Del Potro I can't remember who made the Petra/JMdP comparison but definitely feel its appropriate. Its esp fun b/c she has talked about admiring his game And I was surprised to find out per an off hand tweet from Jon Wertheim that the Bryan Bros now live on separate coasts. Color me shocked

Yeah, one of them got married to a lawyer who lives in Florida. Who, as I told Tiki while all offended, he called a "great gal/girl" (can't remember which). I dunno just seemed so patronizing.

Interesting. NBC is now out of broadcasting Wimbledon, which will be entirely on cable now. TTC is trying to get a foot in the door with ESPN. Let's hope that they do. NBC was looking to carry a lot of coverage on Versus (which IIRC can be very difficult to locate and might not be carried by all cable/dish companies.)
I think this move really is the right one. Sure, it will cut back the possibility of a larger audience, but NBC was being so half-assed there was no way to expand the audience anyway.

I may have hated NBC's treatment of the Championships but I LOVED the opening music. I am going to miss that immensely.

Wow!
First reaction, great because I hated their commentary. Second reaction, I hate that it's going to cable because anyone without cable won't get to see the biggest tournament of the year.
So they are out of the French too I guess? And the other broadcast networks are not interested?
I have to admit the squirrel story was cute, though it's obviously not a good idea to let a wild animal possibly bite you.
