I hate, HATE seeing Venus lose at Wimby, and yes that includes to Serena, no exemptions. But I also am on boa-d that I'd love to see Kimiko go deep in a Slam hopefully a lot soone- than late=, conside-ing you can only push "late-" so fa- in he- case. Still .. yeah, always Venus. Though unde these circs, with the extended inju-ies/lack of play (both Williams obvs) I am prepared to be a little mo-e g-acious and resigned when they lose. Well, at least one of the has to lose, even if they stun us all and meet up in the final. Hmm, haven't looked at the d-aw that closely, that may nto even be possble. Off to check matchups!
ETA: ok, they'-e in sepe-ate halves, that should mean they can't meet until the final, -ight? Ha, what a dreamer I am, silly silly acre.
ETA: Well fuck me -unning, I almost got mixed up and though Nadal and Fed we-e in the same half, and noooooooooooooo - but yes, actually no, my mistake

Aw, I didn't know the Rafa 'rents had reconciled. That's nice.
So bummed Raonic had to retire. Thank goodness he didn't try to tough it out any further today.
ETA: It's so funny that it's the "R" of all letters that's on the fritz for you, acre, given the really excessive number of R's there are in Roger Federer. It reminds me of when I was in college and my "L" key failed while I was on deadline for a paper on, you guessed it, "Love's Labours Lost."

I'm way behind on my tennis watching, so I'm only reading comments that correspond to where I am on my DVR.
Just had to respond about Venus's outfit on Monday. (I say Monday, because I don't know if she changed it for Wednesday.)
To Breezybee
SPOT ON ASSESSMENT! All she was missing was leg-warmers and a headband.
Alright, back to watching my tennis. I've got to catch up because it's mental gymnastics trying not to get spoiled about match outcomes.

So bummed Raonic had to retire. Thank goodness he didn't try to tough it out any further today. Aww, that sucks, I was hoping he'd make a run. It's always cool to see someone who seems to have a good attitude have a breakthrough. What happened to him? ETA: I just took a moment to sneak a look at the last few games of Venus/Kimiko. I concur with everyone who said that against anyone else they'd be rooting for Kimiko. She's fantastic. I'm sure she gained even more new fans today. I'm still relieved that V won though. Nice write-up about the match by Bobby Chintapalli

Aww, that sucks, I was hoping he'd make a run. It's always cool to see someone who seems to have a good attitude have a breakthrough. What happened to him? He hurt his right thigh. He was running for a ball and fell in an awkward position. It was really difficult to watch. Poor kid. Speaking on attire and appearances, Rafa needs to go back to his US Open '10 haircut. I also loved his night gear for US Open '10. Nike did right by him then. Did anyone see that in the presser today, Rafa was asked about whether he thought he was in decline? I love his answer that he just won FO 2 weeks ago. Maybe he didn't play as decisively as in the past, but the guy won. The media is insane.

The very definition of insanity. He's the defending champion, the US Open holder and just won the French?
I have read a few reasonable-sounding accounts of him sounding a bit jaded at the constant demands of maintaining his position, but DECLINE? Good grief.

Yeah, let's ask the guy who won 4 out of the last 5 Slams if you know, maybe you'-e slipping a little bit? God knows you'-e 25 now, so OLD and dec-epit. I swea- they just make this shit up to have something to say. Sigh - well at least they sp-ead the idiocy a-ound, noone, no matte- how good, is eve- immune f-om the stupidity.
Oh, and ETA to ha--y in this case Ou- Loves Labou-s neve- Lost, because it is an out-ight p-ivilege to live in this e-a of tennis, to be so ve-y lucky to live in the Fed-Nadal age - and Djok too, he's not as endea-ing to me, but he is one ungodly good tennis playe-. Now let's get Andy a Slam and JMDP healthy and we'll be living in pa-adise. You know, so long as Nadal isn't slipping o- anything!

Decline? That is just insane. Okay, yeah, it's possible he won't be #1 after this tournament - even if he wins it again - but it's only one guy on a great winning streak who's beaten him in non-majors. Rafa would be holding 2 (possibly 3) of the current majors after this event!

Rafa should cut his hair short to show off his face more. His face has matured and he's grown pretty attractive and his long stringy hair doesn't do it justice, imo.
I was wrong about the tugging on Venus' outfit because there was tugging against Krumm. I guess I was surprised to see something different from Venus instead of pretty ugly like Eastbourne. Well I think she should just stop designing her stuff and go with Nike or something. She's wearing their shoes so... Her stuff always looks cheap except for her Goddess dress from 08.

They're talking about Ollie Rochus and I feel pretty excited to hear he won the first set! Wonder if he'll be able to continue that today. Anybody see it?
I am full on-record about my feelings about the press and the fact that the players have to put up with such inanity. I feel that there should be a revisiting of these policies - in such a psychological sport as tennis I don't want them messing with the players that way.

I am so not happy about this. I was all looking forward to listening to Radio Wimbledon on my commute in the mornings and that's not going to happen. I wonder what happened between IBM and Android. . . they had the app the past couple of years. Lt, you may have figured this out already, but I was able to play Radio Wimbledon directly off the website using the browser on my Android. I had to go to Google and search Radio Wimbledon and go there via that link because typing in Wimbledon.com takes you to the mobile website which didn't have a link (unless I missed it). The only problem is that it won't play in the background. As soon as you try to go to another app, the audio stops, so you can't do anything else with the phone while your listening.

Come on, Sod! I just love to watch him play -- so loose-limbed, and grinningly evil.
The other day my 6-year-old nephew asked why Nadal picked his butt all the time. When I explained wedgies, my nephew recommended that Nadal go commando (not in those words). Kids these days.

Come on, Sod! I just love to watch him play -- so loose-limbed, and grinningly evil. Such a perfect description. I don't know why I'm drawn to the grinning evil. It's funny because every time I see an on-court pic of him, he seems to be snarling, and then when you hear him talk he's so soft spoken and almost sheepish. It's an interesting dichotomy. Ahh, looks like he finally finished it off.

I really like Sod in interviews too, f'clese. He seems to have a great sense of humor, and that gets me every time.

Darn. No flash on my phone so I couldn't get it to work. Oh well. Kinda interesting to have Soderling vs. Hewitt. New evil vs. old evil. Since I (now) like them both, that's fine. I had to leave the hotel after the 2nd set, what happened? Did Soderling start playing well or did Hewitt run out of steam? eta: Well, not a surprise but Go Fug Yourself did a slideshow on Venus's outfit. They put it up to a vote and, again not a surprise, it isn't going over too well. Some people did like it though.
