Hope you get your power back soon moon! I felt very lucky that we didn't lose ours in Manhattan.
They really are opening up the tournament at 10 AM tomorrow. I wonder how many people will show.

I will let you know. . . my biggest problem today will be parking. The Mets are playing a double header and they don't let us park in the Citi Field lots when the Mets are at home but they don't let us park on the Corona Park grounds when the rain has saturated the ground. . . in other words, where will they let me park? I wish public transportation was an option today but getting out of Jersey into New York doesn't look like it will be happening.

Just in time for the start of play, moon! Seriously though, I'm glad to hear things are getting back toward normal for you. It must have been a major hassle.
eta: BTW, the US Open website has a multi-court video feed again this year. If history is any indicator, the quality will be excellent.

That was so easy! I guess they figured a non-contending Mets double header wasn't go to fill the lots so I parked right where I wanted to.
Meanwhile, I'm at another tournament that hasn't figured out the mystique of Dolgo--this tinycourt is PACKED! I got my front row seat though, the cane might have helped. I'm hearing the same "oh my god"s that I heard in IW. That's what Dolgo does. .
The Gaquet match is going to be on the new court--I took a quick peak ln my way here, very nice. It's a different style than the rest of the courts here. More bowl-like (which means I'll start complaining about not being able to get close enough to the court.)

After such a crazy week in NYC with earthquakes and hurricanes, I'm ready to settle down for some grand slam tennis! Thanks It for the draw analysis. Very interesting indeed. Happy Day One everybody!

Hey, everyone. Glad to hear you all got through the storm relatively unscathed. Things were fine if a bit windy here in Westchester Co (just north of NYC).
I'm watching the coverage this afternoon (one of the perks of working at home), and just wanted to give props to both ESPN2 and TTC for both showing live tennis. How long this will go on before ESPN and CBS start crowding out TTC and thereby depriving us of coverage is anyone's guess, but for the moment: well done, all.

Glad everyone got through the storm okay. My sister lives near the NH/Maine border, and they lost power and had some minor flooding in her area, but nothing major.
Like harry, I'm sitting at home enjoying the coverage while I can, as my job starts this week (damn them; couldn't they have waited till the USO was over?), but a pet peeve of mine is resurfacing. I won't name names, but if I were one of any number of women players, I'd fire my goddamned fitness coach. World-class athletes in their twenties have no excuse to be in crappy shape. [/rant]
I have no idea who will win this thing on either side. I just hope it's fun.

Llodra is taking a bathroom break after losing the third set--hope it helps, he was looking so strong in the first. His serve was ridiculous and his volleying was crazy. Then he let Hanescu's people bother him in the second and he hasn't been the same since.

I completely forgot that Madison Keys was playing on Grandstand Court today. I've been working and haven't gotten to see anything so far. She's 16, and I have been hearing talk about her here and there for the past couple of years. She won a set against Serena in WTT last year (and yes, I agree that is apropos of nothing, but still interesting), and won the wildcard playoff to get into the main draw this year. Crap. I hope she wins so I can get a chance to see her.
Looks like LLodra has at least righted the ship in this set. Is it just me, or have other people been rattled by Hanescu's people? It's either that or Hanescu himself had a spat with some fans who were giving him problems during a slam match in the last year or so. I honestly can't remember.

fafaclese - Madison beat Jill "she's still on the tour?" Craybas.
and it was other fans giving Hanescu the business that led to the spit.
I know I had low hopes for Petra this slam but Daaamn! Also, if someone can find Sharapova's serve, she needs it right now. What is it with her and the teenagers this year? Garcia, Robson, now Watson all having leads on her early.
