Damn it Roger!!! Damn! Damn! Damn! Was this a nod to the immortal Flordia Evans? I think it's more of a: Damn, Damn, Da-yum!! My mental health is thanking the BF for making me come pick him up from work, because watching all of that Fed/Djoker match from beginning to end would have fucked my shit up but good. As it is, my depression is bearable, but that was still horrible. Just awful. And where the hell is jer? A little bit of a gloat is definitely warranted here. Now, as much as I enjoy these guys, I need Murray and Nadal to to wrap this up, because the BF and I want to see Serena/Wozniacki.

I'm around. I went out for some barbecue after the match and just got back. Hell yes, I am so fucking happy. Roger will never admit it cause he's a snob, but Nole owns right now. I just can't believe the supposed GOAT gave up 2 match points. Way to choke.

Eve-ything I've seen Fed say about Djok's play this yea- is highly complimenta-y. And he does own now, absolutely. I don't think anyone questions that, fan o- playe-. I didn't see the 2nd match point cause I just couldn't, so maybe Fed choked on that one: the 1st Nole hit a clean fantastic retu-n winne-. It happens, too good. But yeah, I'll give you 2 sets to love, he shoulda won that match.
Damn this is not wo-king out so well fo- the 2nd women's semi, huh? The estimated schedule was 7 I think? I mean 2-2.5 hou-s isn't a huge deal in tennis, they deal with delays and unce-tainties constantly, but if it goes long it could be a facto-.

Actually, the women were supposed to start at 8, But still, This match could be over soon, or hang on for over another hour.

Heh, I personally needed some gloating to break me out of the funk. Roger totally choked and Djok is totally the best player at the moment. Grr.
Here's hoping that Nadal CRUSHES him on Monday. Heh.

I am fighting the urge to argue semantics of "owning" and "choking" because I question my own motives. (To me, "owning" means you win in three quick sets.) Needless to say, I see them as mutually exclusive - so, I say you have to pick one!

Roger's not the first champion player to lose from 2 sets up, or match point up, case in point J Mac losing to Lendl from 2 sets up, a break up in the fifth at the Paris final. Happened before, it may happen again to others.

Fed choked in the third and fourth sets--he took his foot off the pedal (like he does all the time lately if he doesn't think rain is coming). He didn't choke in the fifth, and didn't choke those match points away. Once Djokovic got some confidence, he started playing really, really well and the fifth set was the only set where they were both playing well at the same time.
It was so sad seeing how much Djokovic needed the crowd to root for him. He was just so angry that the majority was rooting for Roger. He has to get over that.

Oh falafaclese, I thought I was destined to be a cranky bitch for the rest of the day, but your Florida Evans reference put a huge grin on my face. What a great show that was. Thank you!

I don't think he owns Roger right now. Certainly he had Roger at the beginning of the year, But after losing to him at RG, and barely winning here, "own" is a strong word. Roger was hot as hell through the first two sets. His backhand in particular, was right on, but I knew he was going to have to have a letdown, at least on the backhand side. It was just a question of whether he'd be able to pull out of it in time, and he did in the fifth set, until the very end. He had the opportunity to put it away, though, and I feel like he blew it a little bit. The first match point was just a phenomenal return off a very good serve, but the second match point was just a little bit tight, I think, and just barely caught the tape. And then that double fault was just awful. Maybe the return on the first match point shook him a bit.

I only caught a glimpse, but I think you're right, Jer.
Woz's jacket looks like some sort of hideous item that time-travelled in from the 80s.
Does anyone else feel like Serena might try to take this in two quick sets, to show the difference between being number one and actually being the best player? On the other hand, three sets wouldn't surprise me, given Serena's agressiveness and Woz's steadiness. If Woz wins, I'll be sure we've moved into an alternate reality.

The draw sheet said she was singing tonight--I'm guessing she couldn't switch to tomorrow night or whatever they had planned for the men's final was more 9/11-based so they didn't switch that.
Speaking of 9/11, there was security everywhere today. In the morning, we were walking around the side courts (I always need to say "goodbye" to the Open each year) and every one had a security person on it, even the ones without anyone playing on them.

Was I the only one who thought Rafa looked weird when he took off his shirt after the match? Not his body, mind you, which is nice, but the fact that his shorts are SO high-waisted, they look like grandpa pants. And really, the cut of these shorts is not the best for him, either, because it makes his ass look fat in a not-great way.
