Oooh, I'm taping, but also have the US Open online and it's Vi-gina Wade! What a lovely voice she has, plus she is just so much bette- in he- commenta-y than the US TV lineup. Well, I think, she could say dumb things as the match goes on, but in my memo-y of he- comments she is intelligent, insightful, respectful but not at all fawning, will c-iticize as well as p-aise, and oh goshda-n I just like he-! I really, really like he-!
ETA: But gah, couple with fucking Al T-autwig, whyyyyyyy?!
ETA again: I just do not get the c-ying child-en. What is the matte- with people fo fuck sake? Okay, I saw a couple with a young one at the New Haven event many yea-s ago but ..... 1. it way a day session and 2. they also b-ought the nanny. Kid was not c-ying in the stadium, but being st-olled about outside. In the daytime.

I'm getting annoyed by Wozniacki's reluctance to tee off on the few short balls Serena's giving her. Not that i want her to win, I'm just bugged by missed opportunities. The good thing is Serena's definitely not letting opportunities like that pass her by.

Yeah. My not-so tennis savvy friend today asked me (stunned!) why I hadn't taken my kids yet to a Major. (They are 6 and 3.) It's so funny how this is that main item of fandom that doesn't transpose well from other sports. Hey, tiki, you asleep yet? (Or does Serena mitigate that sleep inducement??)

I'm awake, oops! Serena is always exciting to watch, and the mean part of me is enjoying this total smackdown.

Actually, I took my niece to New Haven when she was 6-7ish and we had a blast. But. We went on Monday, daytime, and I was totally committed to having a fun day with he-, not any ha-dco-e tennis watching. I had a box, so it wasn't ext-a money to take he-, and we hung out in the kidzone, foodcou-t, p-actice cou-ts, and even watched some tennis in the stadium.
Beatdown, not shocked. And btw, though the ski-t is decent, the top half of Se-ena's outfit is just mad flatte-ing, f-ont and back, best I've eve- seen he- in. She looks go-geous.

Yes, I noticed that. Not attractive. If I was dressing him you would think see MORE of the torso, not LESS.
I was out all afternoon and didn't see the Federer/Djoker match. When I saw the score though I was transported back a year ago. Don't know if I can bring myself to watch it.
I'm mighty pissed that they only showed about 5 minutes of the Stosur match. The Nadal/Murray match was good but I would have liked to see more of the women.

Hooray, tiki! This is right up your alley - though I am expecting a quick break here and sayonara.
Anyone see the creepy guy behind the players on the one side of the court. He watches CW like he wants to eat her. Every head next to him facing Serena and he TRANSFIXED on CW. SCARY!

Is he behind them when they sit down for changeovers? I'm trying to rewind the usopen.org feed to see if I can see him.

No - behind her as she was receiving serve. Maybe during the 2nd and 3rd games of the second set? Try that. I don't think it was as long ago as the first set.... CREEPY 40-ish with a trophy wife, and FIXATED! (It was on the usopen feed that I saw him.)
ETA: Behind - as in from the camera lens. In real life, in the box just off her left side.

If Stosur weren't such a flake, the women's final would hold great promise for an exciting match. Come on, Sam, try not to be a headcase tomorrow so we can have an interesting final (don't see how Serena can lose anyway, but a tight match would be nice).

Ok, I'm not happy about Serena's habit of dropping serve right before the end of each set today, but at least she shut each one down with a quick break back.
Caroline needs to step it up. I'm not bothered by her game as a whole, but she needs to be able to step in and crack a few sometimes. There were too many missed chances against a player of Serena's caliber.

Novak egging the at-that-point-pro-Roger crowd to cheer for him after that blistering winner on Roger's first match point really irked me. More importantly, it rattled Roger - and the postmatch interview from Roger made it clear he was annoyed about that return, basically saying it as something opponents did in his junior days and they got lucky. I don't agree with his version of that point but it's not as if he's going to admit Novak rattled him either.
I kind of love how transfixed JMac was of Andy's side of the court through the match. Until the third set, the match was dull as dirt but listening to his version of Andy's commentary of the action was the only thing helping me through. Now if JMac decides he'd rather not rush back to the Champions Tour and advise a certain coachless player instead, that'd be gold.
Caroline, go back to your Mystery Coach and your Golfer Boyfriend and make a new plan because that sure wasn't ever gonna work.

Well, the final sco-eline isn't so bad, but at no time was that actually a competitive match. Nice to see how excited she was with the win. Yeah, I don't see how Woz is eve- gonna win a Slam with that game. It's good, exceedingly competent, and one can always get lucky on the day, but gene-ally speaking you have to actually win Slams, not just not lose them.
Fed was a touch i--itable in his inte-view, but conside-ing I was about to cu-l up and c-y myself I can't imagine how it must be to have to go do that at such a difficult time. Comes with the job, I know.
Getting back to the good stuff: Se-ena's looking unbeatable, don't want to jinx he- but honestly. Sam has powe- but she doesn't have all that Se-ena does, and just being a p-oven, expe-ienced champion definitely counts. And again: how awesome was that outfit?

Novak egging the at-that-point-pro-Roger crowd to cheer for him after that blistering winner on Roger's first match point really irked me. It kind of bugged me too. mostly because itr was delayed, and then lasted long enough that it felt like Roger would have had to wait at least a little bit which, I'd expect, would add to the chilling effect. I couldn't see Roger during any of it, though, so I have no idea, it just felt like a bit of a delay. Unfortunately, i missed the creepy guy. Oh well.

Another thing I've realized after today: comparing Caroline's game to Andy Murray's is definitely an insult to Murray. At least he is capable of offense (he did have more winners than Rafa in the match), something she cannot do.
Stosur/Kerber match is starting on Tennis Channel right now!
ETA: Just noticed on the scroll that the men's doubles final did go on Ashe after Serena/Caroline. Very quick work from Melzer/Petzschner so far.
