Best explanation I've ever heard.

Just in case anyone is interested in knowing what John Isner looks like naked.

Can't get link to work but Radwanska is also in ESPN naked issue. Her interview seemed totally different from the way I am used to her sounding.
What little I have seen of Eugenie Bouchard I like. Always happy to see more women coaching, anyone know if Elena D rumors are true?
I know that Newport RI is classic ex of town that is full of haves and haves not, but surely some money could come from somewhere to fix those courts.
And speaking of messy situations Martin Hingis' soon to be ex needs to have all the seats. I was never a big Martina fan but to try and sabatoge her induction in HoF with shrewdly timed confessions to press is awful move.

Definitely not amused regarding the Sharapova hire. I don't remember liking much about Roddick's game in his time with Jimmy, either.
Hall of Fame induction ceremony: First of all, Rod Laver stole the show - how can you not smile at him as the umbrella man? Cliff Drysdale, class through and through. I'd forgotten the exact explanation about leaving Czechoslovakia so Hingis explaining her name's origin as Navratilova a symbol of freedom rather than the usual "Melanie is grooming a tennis player" angle was a nice touch. Still seems weird that she's a 32 year old Hall of Famer when Venus Williams and Roger Federer (two players around her age connected with her successes in different ways) are still on the tour.

ETA - Sharapova has hired Jimmy Connors as her coach. I am not impressed. Hmm. . . yeah, me neither. I'm trying to figure out what changes that will bring to her game. Didn't he get Roddick into more serve and volley? Eh.

Interesting. I think at least it will help him avoid some of the shanks he sometimes gets.
So Serena is playing in Bastad this week. Very unusual. Also, it's apparently only the 5th time she's played an international level event ever. I guess she's really shooting for the year-end number 1.

Hallelujah for that new racket
Anticipating that I may never like Maria now that Connors is in camp....
OT: here I am in Indian Wells w a view of the tennis stadium from my window. wondering where the players stay when they are here - anyone know?
Of course, I should be worrying instead about the approaching forest fires

oops, I think the players stay at the La Quinta Spa and Resort. Couldn't find a straight answer. Hope you're safe from the fires.

Damn, Fed is in some slump. Some of it may be the new racket, but that doesn't explain Wimbledon. He struggled in every match in Hamburg, and then lost to a qualifier. I know, I know, on any given day someone can be off and the opponent having the match of his life, but still. Haas lost too, blech.
Yeah, Connors is not going to endear me to Maria. He is my #1 all time most hated player, I freaking loathe the guy. Not only for his gamesmanship and total lack of sportsmanship, but also from the little I know about how he conducted his personal life. Mostly the on court stuff, that was enough and too much.

And the slump continues. He lost to Daniel Brands today. Straight sets.
ETA - Troicki has been suspended for failing to provide a blood sample during a doping test - 18th months.

I think Roger's going to go back to his old racquet. Not that he wasn't having problems before, but he may feel he doesn't want to take the time to make such a big change at this point, especially mid-season.
