While wiling away the time until 3:30, I thought I'd try to find the Wertheim article that mentioned Azarenka's reputation, particularly since my memory was of the vague "she's a bitch" variety, and I found it. It was from JW's SI wrap-up article about the 2012 Oz Open: "Last week, the excellent Sydney Morning Herald columnist Richard Hinds noted Azarenka's poor reputation among drivers and locker-room attendants while Josh Eagle (a commentator and husband of former player Barbara Schett) talked on the radio about sneering contempt Victoria Azarenka has for those not named Victoria Azarenka." I've always liked Wertheim, so I thought his deciding to publish this was suggestive and have been iffy on VA ever since. The problem with that characterization is that I also see that she has friends among the women in the tour, and that after Sloane Stephens' performance against Li Na a couple weeks ago she sent her a tweet congratulating her performance and praising her talent. In the face of that I wonder about whether the claim that she has "sneering contempt for anyone not named Victoria Azarenka" is hyperbole. To be clear, though, I have always had reservations about her attitude, but found myself rooting for her in spite of myself. I do have concerns based on how this Vika-gate thing is shaping up though, because, as I said, gamesmanship bothers me. She made the front page of the online version of the New York Times. I agree that behavior like that speaks to the player's character, and that bothers me.

Well, now it's a match. I think the Roger train's about to start rolling.

So happy.
Eurosport showed Severin covering the camera and Mirka chuckling.
So proud of Roger. With JWT he knew also that his critical moments were on the receiving end, as he doesn't have the serve. With JWT I felt it had just gone away - but it seems clear that Roger has had to build a strategy around it. The back, right?
On the shallow note: just because I can't say it enough - I love both Mirka and Kim. But I am not enjoying Murray's outfit at all.

Darren should commentate all the matches for ESPN. I quite like the sound of his voice and his thoughtful comments.
Yeah let's go, Roger!

Andy makes it so hard on himself. Can't do that against Roger. But hell yeah, Roger! 5th set here we come.

I love tennis - so rich in poetry. I am hearing Dylan Thomas right now.
PMac wants to know what Roger said, too, eh skyz? I switched over to the AO site stream and it's ESPN. So interesting to note the differences.
C'mon, Roger!

That 4th set took all Roger had. But he made it a match. I hope the final is good and Andy is recovered enough.

I woke up midway through the 5th set. Was hoping Roger would pull it out but Murray was in finer form.
