I know my dream final of Tsonga/Djokovic is unlikely to happen and my worst-case scenario of Rafa/Ferrer is but I'm still hoping. . . I love David, but he plays like crap against Rafa and I have no desire to watch that.
I've got a little palate cleanser of Mahut/Llodra vs. Granollers/Lopez going on right now. And whoop! Llodra/Mahut just broke to go up 5-3 in the deciding set. There's something about French men playing on clay in Paris wearing Lacoste that is just so very nice.

I haven't been able to watch anything yet this year Were it not for the official app where I set it up to get updates on Nole and Masha, I'd have no idea what's going on.

Well, at least the 1st women's semi was competitive, as one might expect. But I just can't listen to those shriekers, I can't stand it. One is bad enough, but two? Forget it. I wish they'd shut the hell up (I know they won't), because I like the tennis, the play.
2nd semi, swish, again as expected.
Men's semis I hope/expect to enjoy.

I hate NBC's coverage so much that I actually teared up when ESPN signed off until Wimbledon. Watching on ESPN3 has been such an easy pleasure--yesterday I watched Suzanne Lenglen and didn't have to listen to any commentators, just the sounds of the matches themselves.
Tomorrow NBC doesn't come on the air until 4 hours after the play has begun (and they have the nerve to call it "live"!). I guess it will be scary streaming sites for me. . .
Llodra and Mahut are in the doubles finals. I couldn't be happier. They have to play the Bryans but I'm hoping the crowd will push the frenchmen along a bit.
Serena was surgical today. That was beyond impressive but I'm still hoping against hope the streaky Maria can pull this out on Saturday.

lt, do you get the Tennis Channel? They're showing the 1st men's semi at 7am.
I was very impressed by Serena today and hope she brings this type of play against Maria. I think really that Serena would never want to lose to Maria in a grand slam final ever again, so I'm hoping for a blow out. Just like the Olympics. Her play today was incredible, 40 winners in 46 minutes. Superb.

Yeah, the shrieking does get on one's nerves after a while, doesn't it? But if I turn down the sound I would miss all the snark-worthy commentary.
(Silly story: At the beginning of the third set I ducked into bathroom for a quick shower, leaving the door open to hear scores and commentary until I turned on the water. As I was daydreaming while luxuriating in the warm mist, I thought I heard someone crying. Could it be the cat I’m sitting for my best friend? What the hell is that? So I rinsed quickly, got out and ran into the hallway only to realize that the strange sounds penetrating the serenity of my shower were coming from the TV! Damn they were loud.)
A 46-minute semi-final match? Serena isn't messing around. I think the ghost of last-year's first-round loss is STILL pissing her off. Maria better eat her Wheaties.

Nope. Cablevision and TTC got in a cat fight and it isn't available for any price on my cable system. And NBC has such arbitrary rules about streaming that TTC won't be streaming.

It's sad how not surprising that Serena-Sara match was. I cannot believe I'm going to be cheering for Llodra but that's the power of Mahut (and having a French champ at the FO) for you. I still remember Llodra-Clement winning Wimbledon so I can go along with whatever celebration comes to their minds. There's a video on the RG website quizzing Llodra and Mahut about French FO history. Nico's arguing over the wording of a question (sorry to say he's wrong) totally makes the video. It also made me seek out video of the last French pair to win and I must say it's a weird time warp if you're a Gasquet fan.

Anyone have picks for the men's semi's? I'm very curious to see how it turns out. David is 2-1 against Tsonga, and beat him on clay in '10. I think their match could go 5 and the same for Rafa and Nole. I hope they're competitive matches. But I have to say that I don't want a Ferrer vs Nadal final at all.

I am rooting for Ferrer into the final all the way... and I really don't care if Rafa is the opponent. David should be in a GS final after all these years. I have to admit that I don't really know how to look at Tsonga's match against Federer in terms of Jo's form because Roger was that far off. It's really only due to the French crowd that I'd even be okay with Jo winning.
As for Novak-Rafa, I root for a loooong five setter so the final is competitive but I'm leaning slightly toward Djokovic for the win.

I forgot how boring it can be watching Nole vs Rafa. And Nole's not looking too good right now. Could be over in 3, easily with how many errors he's making and his shot selection is taking a turn for the worse.
And he was just broken by Rafa. Over in 3.

Damn I got quite a shock looking at an article on the FO website .... "the 27yo Nadal" ... wait, what??? He can't be 27, he's the kid, I mean he's still the young gun, right? My how time flies. Did a quick check of the top 10, and DelPo is the only one under 26 actually. I well know that men's tennis is not a teen game, and that it's been a long time since, say, 08 Wimbledon, but still seeing that made me blink.
Yup, I'd like to see nice competitive semi's and I don't have real strong feelings about who wins. It would be lovely and deserved, totally, for David to make a Slam final, I'd be happy to see that, but basically I'm a Tsonga fan. And then the issue if David has to go up against Nadal? Pfft, that's too easy. So I'd be thrilled that David made a final, but bummed to have to see him actually play it. (Now if the sky falls and he won, that would be exciting!)
Djok-Nadal? Hmm. I like Nadal best, but game-wise I like Djok best, and it's slightly dull to see Nadal win yet another FO, but then I can't pull too much for Djok. Seems to be decent enough guy these days, beautiful game, but old habits die hard. I won't mind if he wins it all, definitely, but I also won't be excited. Only Tsonga would be exciting for me.
Yeah, 1-all, to be expected. I didn't see this being done in 3. Even 4 would be an excellent win, and with these 2, and on clay no less, we could be here all day.

Ugh. Because the butt picking wasn't annoying enough--butt-crotch-nose is positively foul. Why does he want to smell all that?
C'mon Novak! How dare you get injured now?!?!
