acre - Re: Wawrinka: two words: Magnus Norman. He knows how to take a talented player and make him a more consistent threat (see: Soderling).

Yeah, that is it I think moon. Quite the coach. I mean you don't get up there without the talent and work ethic, but Magnus I would think would be in high demand for those guys kinda floating on the bubble. And oops, I missed that Stan lost the 2nd set, I saw 2 6's and didn't notice the 7.
Hang in there Tommy!
ETA: Well he did, and I'm so glad, but honestly Tommy you couldn't have made it harder. Up 2 sets and then having to win in the 5th, in OT no less. I'll have to check and see who his next opponent is, and when, and if that guy is wiped out the same way. Like all of them he's fit as hell, but at 35 you just don't bounce back the same way. Hopefully his raw talent will be enough, because he is more talented/gifted than most of the guys.

So it seems that just the possibility of facing Ferrer now instills the fear in Almagro. Up two sets and 4-1 in the third (or maybe it's fourth - he was definitely broken twice in a row), we're now in 3-all in the fifth! How does Tommy keep doing this?
ETA: Successfully does it again. Robredo into the QFs!
Further ETA: Actually both third and fourth. Almagro was up 4-1 in 3rd, 4-2 in 4th - lost both sets 6-4.

Stupid NBC. I was happily watching the tennis on my computer and at exactly 1pm I get "bon soir, Paris" and screen goes black. Now I have to listen to the three worst commentators in the business while Roger is having a bad time. They're not even talking about the fall that Roger had which is when the match turned around. If he jarred something I wish he'd call for a trainer for the first time in like ever.
Meanwhile, Jo is looking so good. Quick around the court, light on his feet and hitting some great shots. That win over Troicki was comprehensive.

Oh dear, Roger was on fire the first set while Simon seemed alseep. Now it's reversed. Roger may be hurt , though, but that hasn't been confirmed yet even though he fell earlier.

Huh? No more streaming? I was watching Gasquet/Wawrinka on ESPN3 but it stopped dead at 10am but TTC doesn't have live streaming anymore. I'm trying to avoid the scary sites but I might have to dip in to watch this match.

I'm happy to see Haas win, but what the hell Youzhny? Didn't even come to play it seems.
So Fed visibly rolls the ankle, but it doesn't hurt, just "lost my concentration". Okay, we get it Superman.

I'm happy I decided to find a stream--this Stan/Richard match is insane. Chippy to say the least. And poor Carlos Ramos--Stan spent the entire 3rd set yelling at him including getting the tournament director out to replace the line judges. But they're still hitting out of their minds. Stan has 71 winners right now and Gasquet has 51.

Gasquet and Wawrinka are indeed playing dueling racquets. It's now 5-5 in the fifth!

I listened to the fifth set on Radio Roland Garros at the gym. The people next to me must have thought I was nuts with the hand waving and the "oh no'ing" that was going on. The only solace I take in Gasquet's loss is that neither one of them was beating Rafa next anyway.

Don't you just hate when a friend sees the score of a match, having not seen any other information, then says in an offhanded way "Why do you root for that guy? He's always blowing leads and choking"?
Yeah, not the comment to hear after the Wawrinka-Gasquet match. It took all my might not to throttle her. Clueless casual fans may be worse than non-tennis fans.
It was just a really great match - certainly the best one-handed BH battle I've ever seen. I'm glad that Stan won after what happened in Australia... but I also wish Richie's fourth round losing streak was over.

Yikes. I thought today's men's QF were going to be tight. I was definitely wrong.

There's still hope for the Federer/Tsonga match lt. Sad to see Tommy's run come to an end although I'm happy about Ferrer making it to the semi-finals. Robredo sat and talked to me back in 2009 at the Roger's Cup and I've always had a soft spot for him so I was hoping he'd go further.

Well, at least I like Tsonga. I like Fed best obviously, but I'm over my need to see him win all the matches all the time. He's done and won everything, and I'm fine with him just doing well at this point. And again, I do enjoy Tsonga so if that's the way it goes I'll still want to watch the semi and all.
Nice tournament for Sveta, excellent for an unseeded player. Wish she could have consistency again, and that this kind of thing wasn't the exception.

I'm just loving the idea it'll be someone different in the final, whether it's the French fans going nuts or Ferrer in due to his dream draw.
