Here's a hilarious side effect of yesterday: who do you put on Centre Court? Andy of course but those other two slots. Ladies should be Kvitova-Makarova and my guess is for men is Almagro-Janowicz (Gulbis-Verdasco is only other real possibility but Ernests has been on Centre) but just think about that for the rest of the event.

Kimiko is like the Bionic Woman. It's amazing that she is so ridiculously fit and efficient. I love that she's still grinding week in week out and getting pretty consistent results.
Raonic, on the other hand, is looking kind of disappointing right now. I don't get why he can't do much better on grass with his game.

Maybe I have a new favorite for the championship - maybe Sijsling can make a dent in the weird field.

Oh well. Sijsling just returned too well.

I hadn't thought about that! Ha!
I don't understand it either. I had the match on mute while I was watching Feli/PHM on my computer so I couldn't really tell if he was doing badly or if he just doesn't have it anymore. Speaking of Feli/PHM--I'm happy Feli won (obviously) but I'm not happy to add Mathieu to the retired list. Was Feli playing as brilliantly as he looked like was or was PHM just never well enough to make it a match?
I've still got plenty of guys in this Wimbledon--besides Andy and Feli, Gasquet looks like he'll be winning (please don't let me have jinxed it) and, of course, Fer. There are more besides that. And I like Stakhovsky's game, I'll be interested to see what he can do in the next round.
eta: oh, and Kevin Anderson! Love that guy. This quarter had loads of guys I like--watch them all lose to their opponents. . .

Gasquet finally won but he made every effort to make it as complicated as possible. He was up a break once in the third, up 5-2 in the 3rd set tiebreak, twice up a break in the fourth. Frankly, I wanted that to finish to find out about Ferrer.
Crossing fingers that Dimitrov/Zemlja match can finish today.

awwwww, Djoker has never heard word "squiggle" before.
I'm currently at a baseball game listening to Wimbledon radio. Technology is wonderful.

I suspect you were at the Yankees-Rangers game. The Yankees did pretty well considering they're fielding a minor-league offense. Ugh.

nope, I'm out of town on a business trip so I was watching my team--the Brewers (and talk about a minor-league offense [and defense]). Makes the bloodbath of yesterday's Wimbledon seem serene. Okay, not quite.
eta: there are some matchups in the delayed 3rd round that I'm really looking forward to tomorrow: Feli/Haas Ferrer/Dolgo Anderson/Berydch (this one is to see just how 80s-style big serving plays out)

I almost wish the roof had been closed for the Almagro-Janowicz match. JJ's serve is already imposing on Centre but it'd sound like a boom.

Now that we have the roof which guarantees at least some play even when it rains, I find myself half hoping it rains enough to necessitate play on the middle Sunday. Selfish, I know.

I wish John McEnroe was on twitter (or that I was) so I could tell him that Tommy Robredo does have a watch sponsorship--TW Steel. No, I did not know that, I googled it since John and Chris are talking about it so much.
I know I've said it before but I love the sound of the tennis under the Wimbledon roof--it sounds exactly like it did when I was a kid playing in an indoor tennis facility. Brings back some fond memories.

I cannot believe Adrian Mannarino (barring a massive choke) is about to be in the second week of a major.

I had no idea who he was but I'm sad Dustin Brown went out with such a whimper.
eta: Yeesh, Fer, is your new Babolat racquet making this much of a difference? When was the last time a commentator could say Fer's serve was "dominant" and he wasn't joking? Fer won 70% of his second serves! Chris Fowler's jaw will be on the ground when he sees that.

While those who caught the upset bug on Wednesday have mostly lost, those who benefited from walkovers have totally capitalized:
Pennetta (Azarenka), Mannarino (Isner was only two games so practically a walkover), Kubot (Darcis), Kvitova (Shvedova) and now 6 foot 8 Kenny De Schepper (Cilic) all won.
Also, Fernando Verdasco was amazing!
