That was a well-played match by Verdasco. I was expecting that match to be a battle.
So far Sloane Stephens isn't looking any better than she did when she lost the second set 6-0 yesterday.

Tomic had 4 set points at 5-4* in the second set, played rather well (two of the points were absolutely amazing) but didn't capitalize, has a mental breakdown and loses the set about two minutes later.
It may be only Court 2 but you can't tell from the crowd noise. The crowd is doing all it can to rattle Erakovic.

What treatment did Berdych get in that second set? Anderson went from dictating everything to losing that second set and now he's down a break (and just saved himself from being down two breaks) in the third.
I like Laura Robson so I am happy she got to a third but I really want to see Feli/Tommy before I have to leave so I'm a little peeved. Hopefully Laura can hold on to her break and win quickly.
Darn! I still don't like Tomic and I like Richard loads so I'm not pleased Gasquet just lost that third set.
Heh, moon, Pam agrees with you--if Laura wins this match she thinks it should be win Laura/British crowd.
The video quality has been deteriorating so all I can see of Kevin/Berydch is too tall pale guys in all white. I'm having trouble figuring out which is which.
ESPN and ESPN2 will both be airing on Monday--from what they've said, I think ESPN will concentrate on Centre and ESPN2 will be around the grounds.

Tomic is just impossible to like, for me. Shoot.
ETA: And, of course, JMac loves him. And just said, on my random feed, "it's not often you see quality out there".

Why does that not surprise me? Although it still disgusts me.
How much leeway should we give somebody like Tomic who has such a hideous and dominant parent?
Come on, Madison!!!

I was really hoping for Kevin, too....
Used to like Berdych, but I can't much anymore. I think my opinions are often connected to the trophy girlfriend phenomenon - I like them until they go that route. Then, bleah.
And del Potro looks too tall for his court.

Glad to see this board is still active! Happy for Tomas. He won me back over with charming twitter feed. Looks like wheels have come off but Madison Keys has made me a fan today.

Madison Keys lost, but she shouldn't be too upset with her performance. She is really progressing well, and other than the short lapse she had for a couple games in the third, she really played well and kept it close. If the lapse hadn't happened, she could have won that match.

As for Tomic, he still comes off as a brat - but a brat I feel sorry for at this point because he's so deluded. That opinion may change once he stops defending his father.
His tennis? That was easily the best match he's played since the Australian Open. Look at Gasquet's stats for the match - I don't think I've ever heard of a player losing a four set match in which the loser won more points (especially when the set he won wasn't a blowout). I can understand why McEnroe likes him... but I also remember hearing the same stuff when Tomic made that QF run a few years ago and his game doesn't look much different from then.

I found Tomic somewhat less obnoxious today. Maybe all the weirdness with his father has made me more sympathetic. That was a strange match though, based on the stats. I guess that means he was playing superb tennis on the during the big points.

I have to admit, yes, Tomic definitely played his best at the end of all the sets.
In the midst of the madness, you can rely on one thing: Tsvetana Pironkova is into the second week.
Also, I have heard not one word about Dolgopolov when discussing Ferrer's section of the draw. I know he's in slump but I always thought he'd be an issue for Ferrer (if he got to his seeding) on grass due to all his slicing... sure enough, he won the first set.

I hate how John talked about Dolgo's Gilbert's disease. Chris was explaining how hard it is for Dolgo to keep his energy up and how he has to monitor everything--food, travel, IVs, etc.--in order to play and that going far in one tournament can mean losing quickly in the next and John was just so dismissive.
Meanwhile, over in the match that isn't getting any time on ESPN, Feli seemed to think Haas was going to play as flat as he had in the first set and Tommy has not obliged. I'm really hoping for a 5th set but I'm not holding my breath.
eta: heee, and now they put that match on the TV. Um, has John become a creepy old grandpa? What the hell with the Gimelstob-like comments about Feli and Tommy being good looking? And what is going on with the person in the stands? I saw when it first happened but my stream was pretty bad at that point so I couldn't figure out what was happening.

It's annoying me that they're giving no love whatsoever to Na's match given that they're now into overtime in the third set.
ETA: Ugh. FINALLY!
And Na wins! Tight match.

Watching Dolgo-Ferrer and haven't even found a stream for Feli-Haas. What's the story with the audience, lt?

I wonder if Kimiko is going to be able to do to Serena what she did to Venus the klast time they played at Wimby. . .
