First time for everything - especially amusing since I didn't even pick the winner (though had both participants)! Thank you.

C'est le temps pour Roland Garros! I have taken the liberty of setting up our usual bracket pools. ATPWTADraws will be done and published on Friday, and don't forget that play starts on Sunday rather than Monday. Hopefully in addition to the usual diehards, anyone out there who's just lurking will have time to play. The more the merrier!

Oh dear. My ATP picks are a bit of a free-for-all. Until moon pointed it out in the main thread I had no idea that poor Feli is meeting Fed in the first round. I think my head might have just given up at that point because I have Andy beating Roger for the title. Impossible, yes but imagine what fun that result could be! Of course I'll have to remember to check back into the pool on Saturday because I just don't know that Qualifier J can beat Qualifier H. . .

OMG, lt, Qualifier H OWNS Qualifier J. Well, I don't have the profound first round emotions as you, lt, but my profound Roger is Declining emotions have him beating Andy in the final. Ha!
Did you have Roger beating Djoker and Andy beating Rafa? That's how I got to my long shot final.

Yup. Exactly. I toyed with having Delpo take out Djokovic but since I can just picture my sadness watching the match I knew I had to stick with Djoker winning. Kinda why I had Fer making it all the way to meeting Rafa--I can picture my stress level watching him lose (again) to Rafa.
Oh, and I had Roger losing to Andy only because as much as I'd love Roger to take the title I'm ready for Andy to surprise a few (million) folk.
I haven't attempted the women yet. What my thought process will be for that one frightens me.

To be honest, I didn't even notice Fed was playing Feli when I did the bracket the first time. Wasn't until I read a preview that I realized I never saw Feli's name!
I also have the top 4 to the semis but no longshot final - I have changed the winner between Rafa and Novak three times already. I generally do the brackets for the other majors with the thought of Andy winning but... it's still the French and he still has to deal with Rafa over five sets on clay. I'd be estatic to be wrong about that. I actually wasn't sure about putting Delpo to even get to Djokovic.
As for the ladies, I have Stosur beating Schiavone in one semi and Azarenka beating Sharapova in the other (going back and forth on that one - but the winner of that match for the title). Last time I had Vika winning it all was the US Open and we know how well that went.

I've got Rafa and Kim winning. I may change things around before tomorrow though. The problem is that most of the hot players have been injured or sick lately, and most of the healthy players have been less than infallible. We'll see.
FYI, Kleybanova just dropped out and was replaced by lucky loser Pivovarova.

I went with Djokovic and Sharapova. What can I say, I'm fiercely loyal like that.

Trying to decide if I am just innately bad at this or if I've just not been studying enough! After one-half day, I'm over!

The first round is in the books! Here are the standings as of the completion of the first round:
WTA: 1. lt 2. mooncreek 3. falafaclese, chocula
ATP: 1. jer2002 2. falafaclese 3. oopssorry, chocula, mooncreek
I think Kimmy's second round loss just blew me out of the water. I had her winning the whole thing.

Here is how the top ranks shook out after the end of the second round:
WTA: 1. mooncreek 2. falafaclese 3. lt
ATP: 1. chocula 2. jer2002, mooncreek 3. splat, falafaclese

Third round leaders:
WTA: 1. mooncreek 2. falafaclese 3. lt, chocula
ATP: 1. mooncreek, jer2002 2. chocula 3. falafaclese
Clearly everyone had the same miscalculations in their WTA brackets, because there's no other way that I could still be in the top three.
